What annoys you most about stories on sites like AFF?

Please take this as your opportunity to rant here about what annoys you most in stories on AFF or other fanfiction sites, as a reader.  These are things the author does that you find infuriating to any degree.  You can explain what you think is the right way to write a story if you wish, or just leave your comment and that's it.

There are just some rules to abide by.

1) No opinion is wrong.  If you decide you want to beat someone down because they have an opinion that differs from yours, your comment will be deleted and you will be reported by me.  This is a place for people to vent and nothing more.  This is not a battleground.

2) If you want to add something to someone else's opinion that you believe is annoying and frustrating, you are entitled to.  However, people may not agree with your opinion.  If this is the case, do not start to force your opinion down someone else's throat.  You are entitled to your own opinion, and not everyone may agree.  That's ok.

3) If someone does start to beat you down for your opinion, do not retaliate, otherwise you too will have your comment deleted and I will report you.

4) Tasteful, non-offensive, constructive critisism of opinions is accepted, as long as you accept that the comments placed here are opinions and opinions only.

Boring 2-D characters.
I could deal with sub par plot and the occasional irksome English-usage but if the characters have depth and MOTIVES for doing things, I could live with the flaws. Characters sell a story to me.

The grammar sometimes! (Even though mine isn't really good, but there are stories which are beyond imaginable when it comes to abominable grammar!)
And the excessive use of Korean words in the stories. Spoils the fun of reading completely!

cliche plots (this is my personal preference but I really don't like mpreg and arranged marriage), bad grammar, messy writing style, etc etc

well usually i don't like the grammar :/ some authors don't bother to edit their stories and it kind of frustrates me as a reader when im completely immersed in a plot and then typos and such pop out of nowhere.

also when they don't research about what they're typing in the first place. like if they were to base a fanfiction off of a disease/illness etc, i think it's necessary to understand a lot about it before beginning to write a fic. because 1. it might not make sense AT ALL. 2. readers may be informed of wrong facts.

and the unnecessary use of korean words. if the author doesn't know what they mean/aren't familiar with korean terms/honorifics i don't think they should just sprinkle random words into the fic.

that's all :^)

All the cliches. There's a problem when every single story is the same.

I guess the grammar... that's the thing that bothers me the most, since a lot of authors don't even pretend to try with their stories. Like, if they spend so much time trying to get it advertised or reviewed, they can at least go back and read or revise their stories, even if it's just running it through spell check.

mh...

I don't like just already mentioned when there is a bad English. I am not a native myself but I use programs to control my spelling.
I don't have a problem with small mistakes in grammar or spelling but when there are too many it gets hard to read. They could ask for a beta-reader.
Another things about language I don't like is when there are too many Korean words in an English story. I have no problem with the use of hyung or unnie but when half of the sentences are in Korean and then end with English it is weird to read in my opinion. Also not everybody is good with Korean so it could be hard for others to understand.

Then when the wellknown start a story but don't finish it. Everybody hates it but it is just sad for me when it is a really good story but the author won't finish it with whatever reason, school, work or personal problems are things I understand but when it is just without a note for the readers it is dissappointing to me.

Interesting. o_o'

I genuinely always feel like a when I say this, but bad English often annoys me. I completely understands that not everybody speaks fluent English (neither do I, I'm not a native English speaker myself) but I believe that is the reason why I'm so picky with the language. I don't want to read a story with English worse than mine because I feel like I'm becoming worse at English than I already was. And I hate to say it but I often find fics on AFF with a plot that could've been somewhat appealing but the language just ruins it for me. It's a small thing but it's the thing that matters most.

It also annoys me when I do read fics that either have child-characters or deals with a mental disorder of some sort and it's so painfully obvious that the author hasn't researched the topic. I can understand creative freedom, but - come on. If one tries to write a 'slice of life'-fic or a 'high school AU' there has got to be some realism in the story. That just ticks me off. Research is so important for me when I write myself so when people just blatantly ignores to research I just ... Ugh.
