Rant: Shoulders and Bellybuttons are SO Y!!!

I watched this video a couple weeks ago and it got my mind thinking of all the dress code regulations for girls I've heard over my middle and high school career. It really didn't both me too much since that was all in the past. But a recent announcement over the PA at school a couple days got me thinking about this topic again.

Thank You Laci Green for bring this to my attention^^

A couple days ago our Vice Principal made an announcement saying that all (I believe he said girls) people need to have their belly buttons and shoulders covered.  No tank tops or strapless clothing and no crop tops. If you are seen in this kind of clothing you will be given a shirt to put on or sent home.

All of the girls in my class were unhappy with this rule. I wasn't one to wear this kind of clothing anyway but if I wanted to I couldn't. Don't get me wrong. Some of this I agree with. Low clevage, bralet things, and really short skirts/shorts are pushing it, but shoulders and belly buttons?? Really? They aren't even ual. Our teacher said that they are just trying to keep the boys' hormones down. This pissed me off more than anything. ARE YOU SAYING GUYS CAN'T CONTROL THEMSELVES?!?! ARE YOU SAYING GIRLS SHOULD BE RESTRICTED BECAUSE GUYS THINK SHOULDERS ARE SO UAL?!?!

I probably sound like a feminist XP

All I want is equality. Guys can walk around in their under shirts and even take their shirts off in the gym. But showing bellies are too y. At no point in public can women take off their shirts unless at the beach or if they have on a sports bra. And don't get me started on sagging pants which seems less important than bare shoulders. Sagging actually shows underwear which shorts show no s. Ugh... Shouldn't girls be "protected" from the male body?? Oh that's right!! Girls are objects and have no hormones...

I know a few friends who got stopped by staff for wearing lace (worn modestly) or a crop top which aren't that bad really.

Anyways... What's the policy at your school?? Do I have the right to be mad or am I overreacting??

This is bull, honestly.

I feel so bad for all of you guys with clothing regulations. I have never once heard (in any school I attended) that there was a dress code. I mean, if you dress modestly, nobody cares if you're wearing shorts and a crop-top or whatever the heck you're wearing. o.o'
I even wore 12 cm stilettos to school because 'why not' - no one cared. If the weather's hot, people are wearing less clothing and nobody bats an eye. Wah, I really feel sorry for you guys, not only the girls but the guys as well - think of all the mistrust they're placed in, that the teachers has to say 'you can't control yourself'. >.<'

That actually sounds more relaxed than at my school wow. We have a shorts/skirts rule that says girls have to wear shorts that go mid thigh or longer (which, I'm sure you know from experience can be hard to find) as well as a no v-necks (only if you're a girl) rule and yes, the dumb "no shoulders" rule. I actually made a rant on tumblr about this recently, because that short/skirt rule results in taller girls getting constantly told they're breaking rules and are forced to wear pants even in 80+ weather. And then there a guys who take off their shirts in the middle of class and everyone is just like "whatever"

You know what pisses me off more than just clothing regulations? Guys who can wear shirts with more than half girls on them and still not get in trouble with teachers or the proncipals!!
