POLTERGEISTS  ☆ much like apparitions poltergeists are a sub class of ghosts whom translate from many countries across the globe, reportings of such heinous supernatural beings in areas like japan, brazil, australia and more. unlike apparitions poltergeists are characterized to be exceedingly more violent then it's loping predecessor, known for their competence in throwing and levitating objects no matter their size, knocking on walls to manifest disturbing noise and going as far as physically harming the living. in wanting to dispel unease skeptics claim that poltergeists are actually juvenile people pulling pranks, or that they're physiological illusions illustrated by stress. however in these modern times poltergeists are utterly real and dangerous, spirits of once malevolent people whom have been denied access to their door, and have come back to terrorize the living in vengeance. only the supernatural can see a poltergeist, humans cannot, and that leaves them prey to their tricks and traps for as long as the poltergeist exists in the household. to the human eye they are visualized as a dark, blacker than black shadow and nothing more. but to the supernatural they appear as they did in their human life whenever they were most vile, transparent in spectrum and sometimes with pupil-less eyes.
 
LIFESPAN & DEATH a poltergeist was once a human whom lead a life of either misery or ill intention, and somehow came to dying whether it was prematurely or naturally in age. once they are sent back to earth without being able to claim a door, they are damned to roam amongst the living for all eternity, unless they cause enough ruckus to get exorcised by a human host. there is no way to kill a poltergeist other than to bring in a priest of the church and have the home be exorcised entirely, and even then sometimes the poltergeist is too strong to will away. 

SHORTCOMINGS it is unsure whether a poltergeist whom wishes to change will ever gain their door back, as many haven't tried, so it's assumed that poltergeists will never be able to move on from their state of being tethered to earth. poltergeists can only be stopped by exorcism, but they can be subdued for weeks at a time with holy water being sprinkled on every doorway within the house they're haunting, and crosses nailed at every aperture. poltergeists cannot step foot within or near churches.

NECROMANCERS  ☆ although necromancers aren't of actual paranormal form, their endowment for communication and tampering with the dead tip them far off the average human scale. there is no pinpoint in which necromancy started to appear in practice, but it is assumed that it predates written word amongst most worldly cultures. they are not witches with devilry, and yet they aren't a standard human being either, working on a completely different axis of juggling both the human world and limbo. such powers passed in lineage were frowned upon on the witches side of species, most necromancers facing stoning and murder for their aptitude of unsettling the natural balance. though today necromancers continue to keep to themselves and their own kind like covens do, they possess a great quality of skill that only grows with age, becoming conduits for communication with the dead, and even more advanced individuals being able to reanimate the dead by housing the spirit within their own body, and then using a ritual to put it back into the previously deceased one. from there the newly re-birthed corpse will always have a connection to it's necromancer, something they hold dearly like companions or children if they don't wish to return to their life before they died. necromancers aren't exactly feared in the community, but they aren't wholly accepted as nobody can figure out what they truly are at heart.
 
LIFESPAN & DEATH necromancers live out a normal lifespan like a human with no accelerated accessories beyond their communication and raising, and can be wiped from existence the same ways you would a person. the clause of this is that another necromancer cannot restore a dead necromancer, they are the only types to not reanimate because their abilities prevent them from wasting good voodoo on their kind.

SHORTCOMINGS they are suspectible for posession for ghosts of any kind, as they can speak to the dead.a necromancer's raised corpse needs to re-learn all the mechanics of human life before they start to realize they're alive again, and this can sometimes be a burden to necromancers to try and keep their corpse from running away or causing a stir in the city.they can be weakened by salt that has been blessed by a priest, and also held prisoner within a salt circle for a short amount of time.

APPARITIONS  ☆ depictions of ghosts have vastly adjusted through the eras, dating back to the theories of animism and possibly predating this as far as the egyptians. ghosts have been conceived to be manifestations of essences from departed bodies, souls that re-attach to the human world to sort out their unfinished business, or in some cultures are blighted to the earth by god as a means for exile for their previous wrong-doings in life. there are several types of ghosts that have been analyzed by researchers, but apparitions are the classification that humans can visually see and communicate to if the spirit is willing to communicate back. although not physically tangible apparitions appear as they did the day before they died, wearing the same attire and looking almost human save fir the fact that they are literal smoke and mist when moving between planes of the earth. they're simply ghosts whom have come back from the dead with either an acknowledged plan, or must determine why they have been brought back by tracing their happenings in mortality and communicating with those whom are willing to see them.

LIFESPAN & DEATH apparitions have no source of time to determine when their tethers to the world will finally snip, not until their door presents itself so that they may cross over. a door is the literal window to the other other side in which a spirit can transport into heaven, once their business in the human realm is resolved. it could take months, years, even eons before an apparition will concoct a way to gain their door, as time seems infinite for them. apparitions can only 'die' through exorcisms by members of a church, or by being shredded by a reaper if they cause too much ruckus within the natural world.

SHORTCOMINGS apparitions in their ghostly state cannot physically touch or move items with their hands. apparitions that have dwelled upon the earth for monumental lengths of time can learn to expand their essence into the human body for mere minutes before being kicked back out. if you want to will an apparition away for a short weeks time, hit their smoky physicality with solid cast iron, and they will dissipate to nothingness. they can certainly return to haunt you once their week in 'time out' is up, but if one still wants to be left alone all they have to do is hit the apparition again with the iron. they may also not cross salt barriers, or homes that have been specifically exorcised to flush spirits and demons out.apparitions can possess human bodies if they have the strength and will, but it's only for a short amount of time. and in possessing humans frequently, apparitions can get bent on the adrenaline thrill of occupying an unaware body, and thus a reaper might come and shred their essence in order to restore the balance.

MEDIUMS  ☆ mediums are beings that exist in both the world of the living and the world of the dead. they are allowed the privilege of walking between and being fully corporeal on both sides of the veil. while they are unable to predict others' actions or see the future, mediums have strong empathy, and are often able to sense or feel others emotions or intentions. because of this, they are often extremely good at reading people, and may feel incredibly uncomfortable around those who give off certain vibes. it isn't foolproof, but many a time has proven to be at incredibly accurate, and most of the times those who they have bad feelings about do turn out to live up to their unease. the presence of spirits around a medium is constant. the wearing of a protective or sealing symbol or talisman can keep these at bay, but the constant hum and feeling of claustrophobia can be detrimental to those with the abilities - especially when they're newer and haven't learned how to block it out.

mediums are able to summon the spirits of the dead, and if practiced and strong enough, even bind them to do their bidding. some mediums have spirit companions which help them through their 'awakening' and beyond, and depending on the strength of said spirit, the medium may even be able to draw energy and power from them to aid in spirit-world related endeavors. mediums also make ideal hosts for creatures who use them, because their bodies are more able to withstand the strain, and if they don't protect themselves well, they're far more prone even than humans to being possessed or otherwise affected by creature-related outside forces. 

LIFESPAN & DEATH mediums have a fully mortal lifespan, and disease, bodily harm, or old age is able to kill them. anything that could kill a human can kill a medium - because at the core, they are exactly that: human.

SHORTCOMINGS mediums can only be born, not created. although a weaker medium may be brought about by a witch's spell, only mediums who are born have the full extent of ability. mediums are very prone to constant anxiety and often panic attacks, brought on by the extreme feeling of claustrophobia and pressure that the constant sensing, hearing, and seeing of entities can cause. if separated from a companion, guide, partner or guardian spirit for long amounts of time, they can begin to feel weak and even sick. during a full moon, mediums are far more susceptible to attack. during this time, they may feel disoriented or weaker, and it's far easier to possess or control them. most of the time, anything done to them will cause them to go into a trancelike state, and they will be unable to remember anything that happened during that time. because of their abilities, they become a target for other creatures. their abilities are valuable, especially because there aren't many in existence. the stronger the medium, the more valuable. if turned into any other species, they lose all abilities they had as a medium.

PSYCHICS  ☆ a psychic can come about in one way. they are born with the ability. each psychic is different as to when their abilities manifest. some always have them, others get them when they go through puberty. others abilities come alive through traumatic events.psychics tend to be very good reads of character. being sensitive to the spirit -or as some have called it - aura - that is inside the living they tend to be more sensitive to mood and intent. it has also helped them more easily notice who is human and who is not. demon's and species that possess hosts have been most easily spotted as they usually sense their is more than one aura inside the host. beyond that the abilities of a psychic vary - in type and strength. many believe the psychics are mutants of the human race. often having strange abilities and adaptation's you'd expect to find in a marvel or dc comic.

LIFESPAN & DEATH most psychics live a normal human life span and can die all the same way's as a regular human being. some have abilities that have prolonged life, even gifted immortality or resurrection. some have had abilities to heal.

SHORTCOMINGS psychic abilities unlock at different stages for each psychic. it's hard to know or predict of future offspring will inherit. as a 'race' they are prone to possession as they tend to be very sensitive to the spirit world - and death. but possession isn't usually as smooth - as the spirit magic struggles against the intruder. often this struggle can come off as fits of madness. most are only as durable and strong as a regular human. difficult to fully learn and understand abilities because each psychic has different levels of strength and even sets of abilities. the abilities do tend to have a toll on the user - it is not uncommon for psychics to be sufferers of migraine headaches. sadly lots of psychics have ended up in mental wards and driven made because of their abilities. they are different, tend to be sensitive in different ways. possession can make them appear mad, but also the inability to accept and understand the abilities.
