Forewords

As Yuri walked home from school, she stepped on the square tiles, skipping. She was a crazy girl. Nobody wanted to be her friend and she would often invent imaginary friends. She stopped at the corner and turned to see her house.

“Yay. Little house.” Yuri said, running towards it. She stopped and saw some red roses. She went to pick some which got the owner of the rose bush angry.

“What are you doing, you crazy girl?!” The women asked angrily, “Get away!” Yuri only smiled at her and ran towards her house. She put the keys in the slot and opened the door, skipping into the house.

“Yuri?”

“Mommy.” Yuri said happily.

“Don’t skip in the house, I told you that already. You know you are crazy so stop it.”

“Okay.” Yuri said, smiling. She went into the kitchen and grabbed something to eat.

“No, Yuri. This isn’t for you.” Mrs. Kwon said, taking the apple away from her.

“Here. Eat this.” Yuri looked at the bruised apple and took it anyway.

“It’s soft.” Yuri said.

“Of course. It’s better than hard ones.” Mrs. Kwon said.

“Oh.” Yuri bit into the apple to find that it was mushy and soft.

“Now, go up to your room. Your sister will be home any minute.”

“Okay.” Yuri said, smiling. What she didn’t understand was that her family found her a burden. She grabbed her mickey mouse bear once she was inside her room and hugged it close to herself.

“Look, Mr. Mouse. Mommy gave me an apple. She’s nice, isn’t she?” Yuri said, as she continue eating it. She heard a car pulled up and her sister, Seoyeon, stepped out of the Hyundai car. She went into the house as Yuri stuck her head out.

“Is she in her room?”

“Yes, so go get ready.”

“Okay.”

“Remember, today is a big day. He’s coming over.”

“Yes, I know. Don’t worry, mommy. I will make you proud.” Seoyeon said, smiling. She walked up the stairs and saw Yuri smiling.

“Stop smiling, you retard.” Seoyeon said.

“Okay.” Yuri said, still smiling but then stopped.

“Go into your room and don’t come out until I say so.”

“Okay.” Yuri said, still smiling as she closed the door.

“Mr. Mouse, that’s my sister. Isn’t she nice? I have a family who loves me.” That’s when she heard another car pulled up so she ran towards the window to looked outside. She saw a man stepping out, wearing a slim-fit stria gray suit and glasses.

“Who’s that, Mr. Mouse? Should we go see? But my sister said not to leave but I really want to see.” Yuri smiled and opened the door, stepping out. The doorbell ran and stranger stepped inside. Yuri looked down at him and smiled. He was so handsome. She crawled and stuck her head through the wooden bars, spying on them, “Shhh, Mr. Mouse.” Yuri said.

“Hi. Welcome to our house Mr. Xi.” Mrs. Kwon said.

“Thank you. May I sit?”

“Yes. Please do.” They sat down and Yuri saw her sister, facing her back towards the stairs. Yuri watched intently, “You all know why I came, right?”

“Yes, we know. You have helped us financially and we agreed to marry one of my daughters to you. So here she is.” Mr. Kwon said proudly.

“I see. You said 'Daughters’ so where’s the other one?”

“Oh, she’s still a baby. We can’t have her marry you now, can we?” Mrs. Kwon asked.

“That’s true.” Mr. Xi said, looking at Yuri's sister.

“Hi. I’m Kwon Seoyeon.” Seoyeon said, smiling sweetly.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Xi Luhan. Nice to meet your acquaintance.” Mr. Xi said, smiling. Yuri looked at him some more. She felt warm inside and it made her happy but sad also.

“Would you like something to drink?” Seoyeon asked.

“Sure.” Mr. Xi said, smiling.

“Well, Mr. Xi, what do you think?”

“She’s nice.” Mr. Xi said smiling, pushing his glasses up.

“Thank you. She will be perfect for you.”

“I guess.” They sat there in awkward silence as Mr. Xi looked around the room until he looked up and saw Yuri looking down at him. She stared back at him and gasped.

“Oh no, Mr. Mouse. We have been caught.” Yuri said, gasping. She turned to look at him again, to find that he was still looking at her intently. She tried to pull her head out but it wouldn’t come out, “Oh, no. I’m stuck, Mr. Mouse.” Yuri said, trying to pull her head out but it wouldn’t budge. Mr. Xi looked at her and laughed.

“What’s so funny?” Mrs. Kwon asked.

“It’s nothing.” Mr. Xi said, still smiling. He got up and walked over to the stairs.

Yuri saw him and tried harder but it wouldn’t budge. She lay there in defeat as he walked up the stairs, kneeling down beside her.

“Hi.” Mr. Xi said, smiling.

“Hi.” Yuri said, smiling back.

“Here. Let me help.” Mr. Xi placed his hand on each side of Yuri's cheeks and turned it in a way where her head got unstuck.

“Hey.” Yuri said happily, “You did it.”

“Yes, I did.” Mr. Xi said, smiling.

“Mr. Xi?” Yuri heard her sister’s voice and she got up quickly.

“I’m sorry but I have to go to my room. My sister said I can’t come out until she says so. So shhh okay? I will get in trouble.” Yuri said, smiling. She took her mickey mouse and tiptoed back to her room.

She stuck her head out and waved at him, smiling before closing the door.

“What are you doing up here?” Seoyeon asked Mr. Xi.

“I found the girl I want to marry.” Mr. Xi said.

“What?” They all asked.

“I found her.” Mr. Xi said, getting up from where he was kneeling. He went to the room and opened the door. Yuri was crawling on the floor, making her looked up at him.

“Mister? What are you doing here?” Yuri asked innocently. Mr. Xi took her hand and placed the 1/4 ct t.w. composite diamond square frame in 10k white gold ring on her long finger, “Hmmm, what’s this?” Yuri asked, confused.

“Be my wife.” Mr. Xi said, looking at her.

“Wife?” Yuri asked, still confused.

“Yes.”

“Mr. Xi, she’s not the one for you. Marry our Seoyeon instead. She’s not crazy like Yuri.”

“Crazy?” Mr. Xi asked, turning to looked behind him at Yuri's family.

“Yes. Yuri is crazy. Ever since she was little she was like this.” Mr. Xi turned back to look at Yuri to see that she was talking to her mickey mouse.

“It doesn’t matter. I want to marry Yuri here. Arrange it.” Mr. Xi said, getting up.

“You are only marrying to inherited the company, isn’t it?”

“Yes. So?”

“Then why can’t you marry me?” Seoyeon asked.

“Because I can use Yuri. She’s crazy, right? She won’t suspect anything.” Mr. Xi said. “This is who I am. I’m not as nice as you think I am. I will come get her tomorrow.” He said, leaving.
