Looking at her clock Ha Ni realized how late it was. She was studying again and totally forgot the time. It was 1AM now and she felt the exhaustion coming. Yawning and stretching her body she sighed. She had way too much stuff to do and the exams were coming up in four weeks. How could she finish all that? Sighing again she tossed away all her study stuff and got up from her desk to get ready for bed.
With a towel drying her face she went out of the bathroom into her room. She was about to change her shirt when her phone buzzed, a text arrived. She quickly grabbed her phone and checked the message. It was from Namjoon. It’s been long since they last texted each other due to the stress from their college exams, they both were occupied with studying.

“Look! My lil brother and I made a cake today. Isn’t it cute?”

She couldn’t help but laugh – the cake was no way a definition of beautiful what was typical for Namjoon. The topping and frosting was a bit messed up and somehow it all seemed like a little kid tried to finish the cake. But that was Namjoon, he was even more clumsy than Ha Ni was so it was pretty good for his standards.

“You know the cake looks kinda messy?”

Namjoon replied immediately. “Shut up! It took me two damn hours to get the frosting done! And my lil bro was no help at all. I know ur jealous and probably craving for food right now – I’m a better baker than you for sure…”

“Not funny, why are you even texting me about food in the middle of the night?! I want food now :( Or a big bro to bake with ._.”

“Hahaha I knew it! Lemme be your big bro and next time we meet we will make a cake”

“Yass! I’m in! Exams are over soon right? Let’s meet up then!”

“Sure! Four weeks? We can make up a bucket list for all the things we want to do together!”

“Sounds good!~ And now I gotta go to sleep and probably dreaming about cakes…Good Night BRO NAMJOONIE!~”

“Good Night lil Sis!~”

Smiling Ha Ni turned off her phone, changed into her pajama’s and drifted into a deep slumber exhausted from the whole day studying.

For the next four weeks NamJoon and Ha Ni kept texting once a while and started to list up things for their bucket list. The things they wanted to do together seemed to take no end and the list grew and grew. Both couldn’t wait to finally meet each other again. It has been at least two months now since they last hooked up. So when they exams were finally over they agreed to meet up in a café .

As always Ha Ni was running late. If there was one thing she could not learn was being on time. Knowing that Namjoon had already ordered their stuff. “Sorry, I’m late again! I really tried to be on time but missed my bus!”, she gasped for air after running from the bus station in order not to be too late. “It’s ok my lil sis!”, Namjoon jumped up out of excitement and hugged her real tight, “Ya know I missed ya loads right?” Ha Ni laughed, “Missed you, too! Ooooh you ordered the chocolate cake I love and the green tea smoothie! Indeed you are my big bro.” and happily digged into her cake. “Wow already taking food over your big bro? That hurts!” Namjoon pouted. Not caring at all she just shot him a look and continued enjoying her cake. Namjoond couldn’t help but smile and took a sip of his coffee. He always adored that side of her, it always seemed like Ha Ni was five years younger as soon as food was in her two meters ratio. Nothing could make her happier and seeing how she chewed her food with stuffy cheeks she really looked adorable. How much he had missed that!

Finally finished with her cake Ha Ni spoke up “So how where your exams? You were pretty stressed out and had to write even more exams than me!” Placing down his mug Namjoon answered “I think pretty ok. Don’t think I will fail a subject. How about you?” She winced “I don’t know at all! I had to write an essay and I really can’t tell if the Professor will like it or not.” “It will be okay. The results will be out soon and I am really positive that you rocked it like you always do!”

Ha Ni just made a face as a response but then asked Namjoon about his girlfriend. She knew that they didn’t see each other often since she lived a four hours’ drive away from Seoul. They met each other at a concert and love blossomed up. They tried to see each other as much as they could but most of the times Namjoon would come to her since she was still in High School while Namjoon was already in college. Since he was in the relationship he took college less serious and often ditched his classes. “She’s doing good, I mean she only has school that’s way less stressing than college. Haven’t seen her for a while tried to focus on college a bit more. Her birthday is soon I think I will go and visit her then.”

“Oh, ok. Got a present already?” To be honest Ha Ni only met his girlfriend only once even though they have been together for 14 months now. She didn’t really know what to think about her but from the impressions she got so far Ha Ni had the feeling that Namjoon was giving more to his girlfriend than she gave back. He was doing a lot for their relationship while she was somewhat pretty passive and Ha Ni kept wondering how the relationship could last that long. But knowing Namjoon for six years now she had never seen him happy like that before. Since he was together with her he smiled a lot more and was way more less stressed. That’s why Ha Ni couldn’t bring it over her and tell him to try to give less and take more. In her opinion a relationship was about give and take after all it just couldn’t be that only one side initiated everything while the other side just accepted it.

“No not yet. Still don’t know what to give to her. Will go shopping next week. You will help me right?” Namjoon asked happily.
“Yeah sure! Just text or call me.”, Ha Ni’s smile twitched unnoticeable as she felt a sting through her heart and mumbled silently to herself, “as if I have a choice.” It’s been the third time she helped him out about his presents for his girlfriend and she already knew it: The present will be pricey. Last time she helped him picking a necklace and matching earring, he nearly paid 150 dollars for it.

“Aaaaw thanks lil sis! I knew I can count you! Food today is on me! And now tell me – any new stories with guys?”
Rolling her eyes she scoffed “I’m pretty happy as a single lady right now ok? I know it’s been nearly two years since my last relationship but you know how stressed out I was since my last boyfriend was annoyingly clingy!” Laughing at her Namjoon patted her head “I know I just want you to be happy and have someone to take care of you. I live way too far away it’s not easy to take care for you like that!”

Ha Ni just made a face and ordered a second smoothie for herself, trying to hide her hurt eyes. Because deep down she couldn’t help but feel jealous about his girlfriend and wishing to be in her place instead…
