A Crack in Concrete
And this was Him ∞
Uncertain of how long it’d been since Myungsoo and Sungyeol uttered a single word to each other. The only times they ever interacted, the only time they stayed within the same walls, the same space of a room were during practices, performances, interview sessions and car rides. Those were the only times.
And even those times, their interactions were limited. Plus, much less of those limited occasions went smoothly at all. Sungyeol remembered one particular session; those months ago before he began filming his drama. Just a week or two after that afternoon he spent mulling over his script with Dongwoo, Woohyun and Sunggyu.
Grateful for Woohyun’s research on his drama rating, for Sunggyu’s hand on his shoulder, for Dongwoo’s ringing laughter. Stumbling through conflicted emotions he hasn’t felt in a while, having exchanged about two sentences with Myungsoo left him so confused and breathless, not to mention stressed, considering everything had been broadcasted. All his stupid emotions in a glass case for the whole nation to witness.
Sorry for Woohyun’s anxiousness, the laid back Woohyun stuttered, eyes on guard and panicky. Sorry for Dongwoo’s resorting to body gag, resorting to inflicting pain on himself as distraction from the masses, and especially for Sunggyu. Sungyeol was sorry for their leader’s tired eyes and stiff smiles and fear laced threats dismissed so blatantly by Myungsoo.
"So, Sungyeol-ssi. Tell us a little about this new drama you're starring in." The interviewer's voice rang through the speakers and the effect stole away his coherent thoughts, left him wide-eyed and dumb.
"Uh, I…” He cleared his throat. "… SBS has planned on making this their end-of-year drama. So, it's going to be big. A melodrama with a very interesting side story. I'm sure everyone will enjoy it."
"Can everyone enjoy it?" The interviewer asked with a curious look on her face. "I heard it's rated."
"Ah… It's .” Sungyeol mused out loud, recalling Woohyun’s voice mentioning this behind Dongwoo’s laptop. He laughed. "That's going to be a problem."
"Yes, yes. Why is the drama rated like that? Are any of the rated parts your scenes, Sungyeol-ssi?"
They actually were mostly his parts, he mused.
"I can't say without giving it away. Let's just say, this drama… It-it isn't too innocent. And I am acting with many great actors so I'm just happy to be a part of the cast." He smiled the smile he’d always practiced in the mirror, before turning towards the camera.
”Anyone under fifteen, please continue to enjoy L's drama. Anyone fifteen or older, you have a choice-“ The cheers at the mention of Myungsoo cut him off. Sungyeol willed himself to focus on the plastered smile slabbed on his dry lips, and proceeded to chuckle along.
He felt a familiar squeeze on his shoulder. Immediately straightening himself, he turned around to find Sunggyu’s strained smile. He quickly grinned back mostly to show him he was not affected. He owed their tired leader at least that much.
“I’m very happy right now.” Sungyeol’s grip on the mic tightened. “In more than one way, I think I’ve gotten a lot better-“
“He’s always been better than our visual at acting,” Woohyun’s voice happily interjected. “Always go to Sungyeol for acting advice!”
“Yes, yes. He’s the best.” Sunggyu nodded in a serious manner, a teasing tone laced in his voice.
“That’s because he also has a great co-star!” Dongwoo commented between enthusiastic laughter. Curious murmurs erupted amongst listeners.
“A co-star, you say Dongwoo-ssi?” The interviewer asked, clearly wanting him to elaborate, all the while eyeing her notes. “Is this co-star, perhaps, a love interest?”
“A… love interest? Y-yes, you could say that… I guess.” Dongwoo blinked, casting a wary glance at Sungyeol’s rigid back.
“Why don’t we ask our Sungyeol? He’s her love interest, after all.” Sunggyu diverted the attention back to his side of the group, where the mentioned member situated right in front of him.
“Hyung-ah, if you say it like that our girlfriends might misunderstand.” Woohyun snickered, hiding from Sunggyu’s playful glare behind his mic, causing the audience to giggle.
“So, Sungyeol-ssi?” They all waited.
“I… can’t wait for the drama to premiere. Seeing how even my members are anticipating it. This doesn’t usually happen, you know.” Sungyeol’s chuckle seemed lighthearted, not wanting for his words to come off any sadder than a joke should.
“Of course, we are! Seeing how you two interact at the dorm, of course we’d-“ Woohyun’s words were abruptly cut off when a loud clank came from his side. Dongwoo had fallen off his seat. “A-are you okay?”
“At the dorm, you say? Sungyeol-ssi’s co-star, a girl, goes to Infinite’s dorm?” The interviewer pressed on fast, not bothered at all by the distraction that was Dongwoo. “...Woohyun-ssi?”
“I… No- she-”
“Yes, she has.” Myungsoo’s slightly nasal voice interrupted the mass. Even the audience froze, unwilling to murmur in hushed voices in case they miss his rare words. “She’s been visiting our dorm a lot… she’s adorable, isn’t she… hyung?”
Sungyeol could feel the weight of Myungsoo’s side-glance in his direction. There was this painful ringing in his ears, as if he was going to go deaf. The warmth on his skin crept up from his neck to his face. He his parched lips nervously. Sungyeol did the only thing that made sense.
“Why? Are you jealous?” The tallest in the group spun back in his seat to cast one unwavering stare at the group’s visual. He made sure his words were as sharp and clear as how fragmented and transparent his heart felt. “Are you jealous a cute actress visits our dorm and she doesn’t even look at you twice?”
Suspense. In the white-knuckled silence, all Sungyeol could hear was the damn ringing penetrating his ears. His head was starting to ache as much as his heart. Myungsoo opened his mouth.
“Yes, since I know you’re going to have so much fun with her.”
“Myungsoo-“ Sunggyu’s threatening tone was cut off.
“I want to have fun with you too, hyung. Your attention is always on her,” The visual blinked convincingly innocent, eyes penetrated Sungyeol’s widened ones. “Hand her over to her brother already, so I won’t get so jealous.”
“Her brother, L-ssi? Who is that?” The interviewer tried to change the topic due to the rigidness of the atmosphere.
“Dongwoo. Dongwoo hyung is her brother.”
It was a miracle how nobody as much as noticed the enormous ugly crack that became Infinite. The crack that only Sunggyu seemed to try to mend, only Woohyun tried to cake with his grand collection of makeup, only Sungyeol seemed to feel its sharp outline pricking his skin, only Dongwoo pretended did not exist.
A crack that was caused by someone from within, a person Sungyeol would rather not blame. He was in love with him after all.

A/N: So I'm kind of sad because not many people seem to bother *sobs*. I decided to cut down the chapters so it'll be easier to understand *sweats* WHICH JUST MEANS I'LL UPDATE MORE OFTEN :'D
I called this chapter "Crack in Concrete" because ugly cracks in concretes are always there and we see them, but don't necessarily care. We look over them thinking they are no big deal... until it's too late. And someone falls under the crumbling ground and like... injure her/himself or like, die. So, yeah. As you can see, most of my chapters have meaningful names to them, so I'd just like to point this one out because DUDE, these names are quite deep. *cries*
GUYS, re-visit chapter 13. There is a clue over there between Sungjong and Hoya :D everything that's happening is mostly hinted in the previous chapters, so if you wanna know what may happen between Myungsoo and Sungyeol.....*laughs evilly* I know you guys love a good MyungYeol. Okay.
