Stranger Danger

People say he was the most charming of men. That if they could put a price tag to his name, it would be nothing short of a king's ransom.    To sit with him or even breathe the air with him is a highly coveted social and financial position. Everybody just simply likes him. He rarely has people who call him off, mostly only his family and close friends would dare.    But somehow, Sandara Park placed a challenge to his so-called title a month ago. She wasn't charmed at all. If any, she just tipped her chin at him in defiance and walked away.    That girl was really something. Her eyes blazed and her cheeks flushed a soft, luminous pink as she scowls at his face. And yet she was annoyingly charming. He was so close that night to grabbing her, either to shake her silly or kiss her senseless.    He didn't even understand why he's so captured with her. Even to the extent of choosing to follow her to the cafe instead of heading straight home where his cousins and friends rummage his place.    And boy did they manage to turn it upside down by the time he came home.    He had fun with her despite her indifference. Suffice to say, it was something refreshing.   Their first meet up may have gone terribly wrong, with them getting on the wrong foot and all but he has no plans on backing off.    He's Kwon Jiyong after all.    She has to know it wasn't his fault, he's not a douche and that he will by no means skitter away at the first snap of her teeth.    The amusing thing is - she walked away from him. That has never happened to him before. And this is why this isn't over yet.

His iPhone whirred languidly across the glass surface of the coffee table.

Jiyong swears under his breath, raking his fingers through his hair in vexation.

"This is outrageous!"   What's he to do now?    .     At twenty five, Kwon Jiyong is the prodigal successor to Kwon Industries. Graduated with a double degree in Harvard, he initially wanted to make his own name and refused to work for his dad, Kwon Yanggung. He didn't want to live in the shadows of his family's wealth but only recently, eleven out of their fifteen companies have started floating in the international market, hitting multi-billion dollar level on its way. That leaves his dad at the brink of exhaustion, requiring him to finally handle their emporium. The old man told him its about time. He can't stall around anymore.    Now his mom, Kwon Minyoung, called to let him know they'd be coming home to New York and insisted he bring his girlfriend over for them to meet.    Being married to his dad for almost thirty years, his mom is nothing but a hopeless romantic. So either he brings in his girlfriend or go their way. Its the ultimatum. He has no plans on defying them but he hopes he can have more time to play around and eventually change their minds.   The trouble with his mom's request is that, he doesn't have a girlfriend.      He takes a deep, calming breath.    There seems to be no way out.    Agitated, he springs from the sofa, pacing back and forth.    Good grief!    He better think of a plan.        His doorbell rang, bolting him up from his seat. Who could be disturbing him so early this morning?    He went to get the door and rushes to open it upon seeing the man he needs most at this time of crisis. He grabs Dongwook by the collar and hauls him in.    "Whoa! What's up with that dude?" Dongwook chortles, smoothing down his unruly shirt.    "Hyung! You've got to help me! Omma called."    "From your hold on my collar a minute ago, I'd say it doesn't sound good." Dongwook chuckled.    "Of course it can't be good! You know mom!"    "Alright kiddo, I'm all ears." Dongwook raises both his arms, grinning like a kid.   Jiyong heaves a sigh, "She's at it again." He glances at his cousin.    Dongwook laughed. "This is hardly a new thing, Ji."   "Jesus hyung, its not bloody funny!" He says, annoyance clear in his tone.    "You could have said no a long time ago. But then again knowing Auntie, she would've probably insisted it so you actually don't have much choice." Dongwook says as he heads to the living room and plopped in the couch. He grabs the tv remote control and turns it on. "Go grab some beer, this is gonna be a long run."    Jiyong nods distractedly and heads to the fridge, he took a couple and tosses some to Dongwook.    After a few channel flips and eight bottles of beer, both are still pondering about the dilemma at hand.    "Anything? Any suggestions?" Jiyong finally asks.    Dongwook glances sideways at his cousin. "I suggest you find yourself a girlfriend and take her to meet up your old folks."    "You've got to be kidding me!" Jiyong face palms.    Complete silence follows.    Dongwook considers for a second. "Or... you can just fulfill their demand and grandpa's dying wish already."    "You know I'm not yet ready for that Hyung. I don't even think I'll ever will."   "Then just bring in any girl, any one of those you've dated before. If you asked them, I bet none will refuse."    "Seriously hyung, can't you devise a better plan?" On cue, he starts laughing. That was a joke, right? A real funny one. When he manages to stop laughing, he asks "You're joking, neh?"    Dongwook pulls a serious face though.    "No."    "It has to be a joke hyung! You know mom. She'll measure this girl against her criteria. None of the girls I dated can sum up."   "Then why don't we just hire some girl to be the PERFECT girlfriend? One in accordance with your parents approval?"    "What??? Why the hell will I do that Hyung? And no girl will want to do that!"    "You're Kwon Jiyong, who wouldn't want to?" Dongwook taps his shoulders.    Jiyong narrows his eyes, "That means more opportunists, you know that. I don't like this idea. Damn it. Help me out here hyung."    "Arasso, arasso. In this case maybe we can just rely on my skills. We can't definitely hire some random girl to pose as your girl, that's dangerous considering our status quo. But I guess I just happen to know a close friend who can never say NO to favors." Dongwook says calmly. Too eerie for Jiyong's liking.    Accepting defeat, he turns, "God we must be crazy. Alright hyung, but she better not be some professional actress or hooker. She has to be decent and remember, perfect."    Dongwook nods absently, "I can't still believe how wicked your parents can get. There's even a criteria, holy cow! You're one lucky kid, aren't ya?" Its now his turn to laugh.    Jiyong snaps and threw punches at his cousin on the arm. Dongwook continues to roll in heaps of laughter. He dampens his amusement and turns to Jiyong, "You gotta give it to your mom, she's a smartypants. But don't worry, i got you." He confirms.    Jiyong planted his palm on his face. Sounds like a lousy idea.   Why does he even rely on this man?   "I told you I know someone who will help us and she's not a hooker, or a goldsucking either, or a foundation-cake-obsessed barbie doll." Grinning like a Chesire cat, he adds "As a matter of fact, she's the total opposite."                Just a few weeks ago, she got the best gift of the year.    It feels all so surreal.    And today they're having lunch together!    Awhoasomeeee~! Dara mentally claps.    "Dee!"    She turns around to see three of her greatest best friends coming their way towards her.    She blinked a few times. Nope. Her eyes weren't playing tricks on her. They're really here!    Neh. In the big apple! With her! Kyaaaaaaa!    "Ya, what's wrong?" Chae quickly comes to her side and places a hand at her forehead. "Are you not feeling well?"    "Aniyo. I'm just..really..really happy you guys are here!"    "Unnie being dramatic doesn't really suits you, I love your mockery best." Minzy winks at her, pulling a chair.    "Hey Darong, we gotta do a lot of shopping this weekend. I can't wait to check Barneys and Tiffany!" Gushing, Bommie grins at Dara and gives her a quick squeeze.     Ah, they are indeed here. For real. And for good.    Apparently, her unnie and Hye Sun pulled some strings to bring the girls here. They even managed to find each of them a job.    Dara couldn't be luckier. She feels too blessed to have the best people to love her.    Chaerin now works on the building next to hers' and Mingkki's. And Bommie snatches a job in one of the Kwon's companies too. Just a floor below hers'.    They all work on flexi-schedule, making it easy for them to meet up whenever they like during coffee and lunch breaks.    "So Dee, are you up for it? Clroo said she has some work to take home and Mingkki got dance classes. So come shopping with me, neh?" Bommie grabs her arm and shook her.    As much as
