10 things I want to do with you
2.
Hyukjae walks down the aisles, fingers running across rows and rows. He remembers the times Donghae and him would follow their mothers here. His fingers travel until they reach a section. He picks up and places the items into the basket. He recalls the excited him, the excited Donghae. His mother placing a plate of warm cookies and a glass of milk onto the table.
He closes his eyes as he wonders, why now? Why hadn't he done this earlier? When he had had all the time in the world.
Time doesn't wait. Never.
As Hyukjae walks home, he sees two small boys running across the pavement, hands interlocked, screaming out in joy. He smiles.
Hyukjae enters their home to find Donghae curled up on the sofa fast asleep, a bunch of photos in his hands. He walks over, gently removing the photos before brushing Donghae's fringe gently. Donghae frowns and his eyes flutter open.
"Hyukkie?" Donghae murmurs, rubbing his eyes.
"I'm back." Hyukjae lifts up the plastic bags in his hands.
"I got all the things we need."
--
"No, Hyukkie!" Donghae screams, barely managing to stop Hyukjae from adding another spoonful of vanilla essence.
Hyukjae pouts, watching Donghae take the spoon away from him and starts to mix the ingredients by himself. He walks over, wrapping his arm around Donghae's waist. Donghae continues mixing, ignoring the pouting Hyukjae. It is when Hyukjae whines at him that he looks up.
"Yah, are you pouting?" Donghae asks, a teasing tone in his voice.
"Because my adorable husband is ignoring me." Hyukjae whines, nuzzling his face into Donghae's shoulder.
"Aww, my adorable husband." Donghae coos, taking Hyukjae's hand and placing it onto the handle of the whisk, and then placing his own over Hyukjae's hand. They spend the next two minutes mixing the ingredients, with Hyukjae stealing kisses in between.
"Hyukkie, are we doing this right?" Donghae asks with a pout on his face, looking at the slightly out-of-shape mountain that's supposed to be a red velvet cupcake.
Hyukjae bends down to look at their cupcake as well.
"That's a good question." Hyukjae mutters, looking back at Donghae.
"Ah, who cares. Let's just do the icing."
The two of them hold on to the piping bag together, twirling and creating cute little blobs on their little mountains-that-are-supposed-to-be-cupcakes. Looking at at the delighted smile on Donghae's face, Hyukjae decides that he doesn't care what their final product looks like. As long as he sees that smile.
With the final touch, Donghae glances at Hyukjae and he smiles, wrapping his arms around Hyukjae's neck, gently pecking the plump lips. He pulls away teasingly before Hyukjae can respond.
"Brat." Hyukjae murmurs, gazing into Donghae's eyes. Donghae smiles, sticking out his tongue. Hyukjae leans in for a kiss, but Donghae suddenly smears the leftover icing onto Hyukjae's face.
"Why you little brat!" Hyukjae says, reaching out to catch Donghae but Donghae runs away. They run around the kitchen, toppling a few bowls and open flour packets in the process. Hyukjae catches up to Donghae eventually, and he grabs the smaller man in his arms, both of them panting from all the giggling and running.
He turns Donghae to face him and he nuzzles his face against Donghae's, so the icing gets smeared onto Donghae's face as well. Donghae giggles, and Hyukjae grins at the adorable sight.
Hyukjae smears more of the icing onto Donghae's nose, and he laughs as he sees how cute Donghae looks, with icing all over his face. Donghae whines, trying hard to reach Hyukjae's face but Hyukjae has him locked firmly in his embrace.
Swiping at the cream on Donghae's nose, Hyukjae then embraces Donghae again, making them slowly sway side to side.
"Remember when our ummas would bake cookies and cupcakes?" Hyukjae feels Donghae nodding against his shoulder.
"We would always be so excited, smelling the aroma whenever we stepped into the house after playing soccer." Donghae sighs contentedly, closing his eyes as he recalls those days.
"And we would share a glass of milk, and you would always finish the whole glass." Hyukjae continues, pinching Donghae's nose playfully. Donghae pouts, placing his hands on Hyukjae's chest.
"You never complained."
"Yeah. Because it's you Donghae. Everything is all right, when it's you." Hyukjae murmurs. Donghae feels his heart clench at the words.
"Thank you, Hyukjae." Donghae whispers.
"For doing this with me."
Hyukjae smiles, and only kisses Donghae's forehead in response.
Donghae wraps his arms around Hyukjae's neck, inhaling the all too familiar scent.
2. Let's bake together. Something so simple, yet something we've never done together before...
