CHAPTER 008: Calls And Big Butts

It was a lazy Sunday for Chanyeol, and he wouldn't have woken up if it wasn't for all the annoying noise coming from downstairs. His first thought was that his mother was preparing breakfast. Or in this case lunch, since Chanyeol had slept way more than intended.   Reluctantly, he got out of bed and headed downstairs. His conclusion was right; his mother was cooking in the kitchen.         "Well, look who finally decided to get out of bed?"    Chanyeol sent his mother a lazy smile before walking towards her and embracing her in a hug. Mrs. Park rolled her eyes but nevertheless hug her son back.        "Are you cooking lunch?" He asked sitting by the counter on a stool. He yawned and stretched his back and arms.    Mrs. Park scoffed while cutting vegetables, "I'm not cooking lunch, I'm cooking dinner, Yeol."   Chanyeol almost choked on his own breath. Dinner? What? He glanced at the heart shaped clock that hung on the kitchen's wall. It was 7:30 PM.        "You slept all day. Your sister was going to wake you up but I told her not to since you had a hard day yesterday..." Her eyes showed pity and Chanyeol tried not to seem affected.    Last night, he had gotten into an argument with Yuri through the phone. It lasted hours and ended with him slamming his phone on the couch while trying to pull out his own hair. Never did he notice his parents watching him from the kitchen. It was awkward and embarrassing, considering that he hadn't told his family that he was currently in a relationship. That was until last night, of course. Both his parents knew now and Chanyeol was sure his mother would tell Yoora, his older sister.        "Why are you looking at me like that?" Chanyeol frowned. His mother sighed and continued to cut vegetables.         "I'm worried. I just think that the fight from yesterday was too much. I never thought she would be like that. She seemed like a nice person but hearing how upset she made you..."   Chanyeol frowned in confusion. What was his mother talking about? Did she already meet Yuri? No way...       "What are you saying? You haven't even met Yuri yet..." He mumbled.   Mrs. Park looked at him in confusion this time.        "Yuri? Isn't Hana your girlfriend?" She asked, stopping all her actions to look at her bewildered son.    Chanyeol felt something snap inside of him at the mention of your name. He felt a current wave of emotions wash through him. Hana. Song Hana, his best friend...sort of. Maybe not anymore, even.         "Hana? You thought she was my girlfriend?" He smiled at his mom.   Mrs. Park continue cutting the vegetables and nodded her head.        "Yeah, since yesterday when you told your father and I that you had a girlfriend. We both thought it was Hana..." She chuckles, "Even Yoora thought the same. We all did."   Chanyeol smiles and he shakes his head, "My girlfriend's name is Yuri."   His mom laughs, "Well, I'm sorry alright! But can you blame us? Hana was always with you and you two would act so lovely that the rest of us thought something else."        "No we didn't! We were just friends..." Chanyeol mumbles, a bit flustered by the accusations.         "Oh come on, Yeol!" Mrs. Park continued, "You brought Hana here for dinner all the time! You adore that girl and treated her like a princess, how can we not have assume she would end up being your lover?"   Chanyeol turns red at the word 'lover' his mom used.        "Lover?" He repeats a bit perplexed.   His mother laughs, "I'm sorry dear, I guess I'm a bit old-fashioned. I meant to say girlfriend."    Chnayeol laughs but he stops as soon as his mother blurts out a question.       "How is Hana anyway?" She smiles. Chanyeol freezes for a minute. It's just silence and he feels a frown form on his face. He doesn't know how you're doing lately. At all. He really doesn't know. You've ignored him all summer long. It's been a month and he hasn't heard from you. Are you doing fine? Are you?        "She's doing fine..." He mumbles under his breath, playing with his fingers. He feels the need to lie.        "Well, that's great. I haven't seen her around here a lot, that's why. She use to come over all the time and now I haven't even heard of her." Mrs. Park then turns around to boil some water and Chanyeol takes this time to think of something to say.        "Yeah, she's been busy lately." He smiles. A tiny little smile he hides by putting his head down and playing with his fingers in remorse. He feels down just by thinking of you. He feels pathetic coming up with excuses to say.       "Really? With what?" His mother continues.        "Just the usual." He says and remembers that your dad travels a lot. "She's probably trying to catch up with her dad. He travels a lot and I wouldn't be surprise if he came back by now. She told me he was in China, so yeah. She's probably catching up with her family."   Mrs. Park smiles, "That's sweet but you need to tell her that we miss her around here," she smiles and puts the vegetables to boil, "she shouldn't forget about us, we're like her second family."   Chanyeol nods to his mother words. He doesn't know what to do about you. You stopped answering his text about a while ago. It's like you were trying to erase him from your life.         "Oh! I know! How about you invite her for dinner tonight!" She grins.   Chanyeol laughs but he's worried. Won't you just reject his offer? Heck! You probably won't even answer the phone!        "I told you she's busy, mom." He says reluctantly, standing up.    Mrs. Park pouts, "Alright then, how about your girlfriend? We haven't met her anyways. It would be nice..."   Chanyeol frowns. Did she forget they were on a fight? Did she forget what happened yesterday through the phone?        "Umm...sure, I'll ask." He smiles and then goes up to his room.   He flops down into his bed, on his back. He pulls out his phone from under his pillow and the first thing he sees is Yuri as his lock screen wallpaper. He begins to remember the fight from yesterday. What were they even arguing about? He can't remember and he hates it. Did relationships always make you this tired? Did they always make you want to punch a wall? How can Yuri be so much stress but at the same time the best thing in his life at the moment?    He sighs and doesn't even waste a second, he puts in his password and goes straight to his contacts and calls his girlfriend.    She picks up at the last ring.         "Yes?" She's still mad. Chanyeol can tell by her stern tone and by the fact that she didn't say 'hello' first.        "Hey, babe.." He bites his lips.         "Babe, huh?" She mutters coldly.         "You're still mad?"         "I don't know, am I?"   He takes a deep breath. She's so stubborn. Why is she always like this? Chanyeol closes his eyes and thinks, I can fix this! Yes I can!         "I'm sorry," he says.         "You're sorry? That's it?"    Yeah, pretty much! He thinks. He can't even remember why they fought, she should give him a break!    He begins to think. Why did they fight? Oh yeah, he called her stubborn and the argument rose to something more...Explicit.         "No. I'm sorry about everything. I shouldn't have said that. Sometimes I exaggerate some things. You didn't do anything wrong, it was me."        "Of course it was," she says with a stern voice. Chanyeol feels like stabbing himself! Apologizing when he was right was annoying but her admitting so was even worse! She was at fault! She was being stubborn! She's always the one wanting to pick a fight! She always exaggerated everything! She gets jealous easily and never tries to cooperate with him...it was all her and only her.        "I said that out of curtesy, Yuri-ah. You have fault in this too..." He says softly, maybe they can work things out now.         "Me?!" She lets out a yell and Chanyeol pulls the phone away from him. He sighs and hears her ranting. When she's finished, he puts the phone back to his ear.        "You know what Chanyeol! Forget it! I don't want to fight anymore!" Yuri yells. You don't say, he thinks with a frown.         "Just tell me what you called me for so I can go back to what I was doing!"         "And what were you doing?" He asks.        "None of your business!" She yells, "Now what is it?!"   Chanyeol sighs. He rubs his temples trying to sooth down his anger. He doesn't want to invite Yuri to dinner, anymore. Not when she's in this kind of mood. He doesn't want his family to think of her as rude and know that Yuri could be a really bad girlfriend at times.       "Nothing. I just wanted to see if you were okay." He says under his breath. Yuri scoffs before she hangs up. Chanyeol stares at his phone for a couple of seconds before he decides to give someone else a call.    You.    His heart is pulsating at the thought of you ignoring him forever. Will you even answer?    The phone begins to ring and he puts his iPhone on speaker, flopping down onto his stomach and waiting for you to answer.    His anticipation grows and he bites onto his thumb. On the last ring, the phone is answered and his heart jumps. He clears his throat to speak.       "Hello?" He says. To his surprise it's not you the one who answers the phone.       "Hello? Who's this?" It's the voice of an older lady. Your grandmother perhaps, he figures. He's confuse. Last time you told him your grandparents were dead and the others you're not even close to. Strange...       "Hello, I'm Chanyeol and-"        "Wu Yifan!" He hears the lady yell from the other line, "I found your phone! And one of your friends is calling!"   Chanyeol is really confuse at the moment. Wu Yifan? Is that a Chinese name? What does that even mean? Did you by any chance change your number?   He hears people talking and he's so confuse, he wonders if he should hang up.        "You found my phone, nana? Where?" He hears the deep voice of a male on the background. He frowns. Definitely a wrong number...

Chapter 33: I could sing praises to Hana for how mature and calm she approached this subject with chanyeol. Let's be honest, this is HOW we wanted to act when we're in this kind of situation. Literally an ideal one. Hana you're amazing. I love her character.
