〈 ♞ 〉NIGHT CIRCUS
KB ENTERTAINMENT » NIGHT CIRCUS

ABOUT THE COMPANY
KB Entertainment is a South Korean entertainment company based in Seoul, South Korea. It was founded by two unknown persons and is surprisingly run and primarily funded by these mysterious CEOs. Being a brand new company, they only operate a record label, music production company, and talent agency, each being run by one supervisor within the business. The name KB Entertainment itself has a meaning unknown to the general public at this time, so as to keep netizens and future fans completely interested and focused on their first official group, aptly named Night Circus.

The company was first thought of in 2010, in the midst of all the debuts and disbandments we know today, but wasn't brought into fruition until roughly July 2012. Initially, KB Entertainment was without a proper studio and training rooms, being thought and dreamt of without fully comprehending all the necessities to start up a company. With special connections, however, the CEOs of KB Entertainment were able to utilize Shim Jaewon’s of beatburgerjae’s studio for any types of initial training needed.

With what little information is found on 31 October 2015, Night Circus is the company’s first known act, consisting of seven members with a mixture of four male and three female performers. The only information known about them is what can be found on each member’s character cards provided on KB Entertainment’s official website. Appearing out of nowhere, it seems like the CEOs have high expectations for this unknown group of entertainers. If the main idea behind creating this company was to bring something new to the Korean pop world, they might be able to truly succeed in debuting unique artists in the future.

Known Acts: Night Circus (2015)
Future Acts: Soloist Shiin who is known to be Watanabe Shinsuke (Shi-in, 2017), duo Double Act ft. Stella who is known to be Hotaru Kisumi and an unknown trainee who goes by the stagename Eunsoo (2018, duet name subject to change)

male manager

Full name: Na, Hyunchul
Birthdate: 3 August 1989
Height: 178 cm

Hyunchul is considered the snarky middle child of KB Entertainment. He looks warm and inviting, a good friend to talk to, but once the barrier of stranger to acquaintance is breached, his knack for being snarky and borderline rude is shown. He shows Night Circus tough love and tries with all his hidden heart to protect them whenever he can from anything harmful in the idol world. He’s also the one who tries to prevent any of the members from dating so early in their careers.
female manager

Full name: Yoon, Sunyoung
Birthdate: 4 December 1988
Height: 166 cm

Being the eldest, Sunyoung definitely doesn’t show it. She’s the odd, caring type – always making sure each of the members are, at the very least, comfortable and well taken care of. Most of Night Circus’ schedules have to be approved through her after the CEOs talk to the members, which is odd in itself, but she takes her job as a manager seriously. She doesn’t mind the members’ eventually dating. She just doesn’t want them to be exposed.
vocal coach

Full name: Choi, Minkyung
Birthdate: 28 May 1990
Height: 165 cm

Combined with the CEOs, Minkyung is considered the youngest of the ‘important people’ of KB Entertainment. She’s been singing since she was fifteen, taking vocal lessons and being a part of an indie rock band in high school. She’s considered one of the favorite amongst these five for her warm and caring nature, but she can get intense inside the practice room, calmly critizing every little thing wrong about her trainees’ tone to the pronunciation of the words in a song.
rapping coach

Full name: Park, Jiho
Birthdate: 9 January 1989
Height: 180 cm

The second oldest of these five, Jiho is considered the blunt and strict rapping coach to those in KB Entertainment. He seems laidback at first glance, but the more he looks bored, the more his critiques are going to hurt. Outside of the studio, he’s an interesting fellow who loves wine and sometimes looks lost half of the time.
choreographer

Full name: Kim, Minseok
Birthdate: 15 February 1990
Height: 178 cm

Don’t be fooled into thinking this man is Kim Minseok from EXO. He’ll blow up and get very offended that he isn’t South Korea’s ‘hottest trend.’ Ask Min. She always messes with him about it. Besides this though, he’s probably the chillest out of this bunch. Down-to-earth and possibly crazily lazy, the only time he shows his passion is on the dance floor or anything related to dance. (He has also taken trainee Heo Shiyeon under his wing to assist him in coming up with and demonstrating the choreography for Night Circus.)

NIGHT CIRCUS BASICS

Night Circus is a seven-member co-ed South Korean-based group, officially formed in late 2013. However, due to unexpected events happening in South Korea as well as member line-up changes, the group did not debut until late 2015. THE BACKGROUND
Night Circus originally began as an idea of a five-membered co-ed group, including permanent line-up of the first three trainees personally scouted by the CEOs themselves: Jaesun Williams, Shi Min, and Yoo Jiwool. Surprisingly, all three trainees were scouted within the month of November 2012 by various means, after KB Entertainment had four months to settle itself as a new and running company. The other two trainees set for debut were Watanabe Shinsuke and Hotaru Kisumi, discovered in February 2013 and March 2013 respectively, hoping for future plans to expand to Japan if Night Circus’ first year reached the CEOs’ expectations. At this time, the group became a South Korean-Japanese group, even though Shi Min is a Chinese member. However, as the group prepared for debut in 2014, several other trainees had been scouted by the CEOs and the lineup for Night Circus had changed due to various reasons.

Being the youngest of the group, Shinsuke had been taken out of the lineup for Night Circus, one of the CEOs seeing tremendous potential in him and ultimately deciding to debut him as a solo artist after he matured and grew older. In his place, Lee Seungheon who was scouted in August 2013 entered the group, keeping the balance of boys to girls 2:3. By January 2014, the lineup consisted of Jaesun Williams, Shi Min, Yoo Jiwool, Hotaru Kisumi, and Lee Seungheon. However, due to the Sewol Ferry Tragedy, Night Circus’ debut was indefinitely delayed where Hotaru Kisumi decided to drop from the lineup for personal reasons.

By then, Night Circus had been comprised of four members, which in the CEOs’ eyes were lacking tremendously, considering each permanent member’s positions in the group. After more evaluations and trial and error, the CEOs decided to add three more members, eventually adding Baek Hyemi, Yong Suhwan, and Park Sookhyun to the original lineup and creating a South Korean-based group instead. Debut was set for the later half of 2014 but with the multiple lawsuits between artist and company as well as scandals coming about, it was decided best to delay the debut for one more year, aiming for the later half of 2015. It was decided on 31 October 2014 that Night Circus would debut on 31 October 2015 midnight KST.
The three artists below have made it through monthly evaluations and rankings, the CEOs seeing great potential in all of them. There are also great reasons as to why these three were chosen for the Future Acts.

Watanabe Shinsuke was part of the original lineup for Night Circus but was eventually dropped after several trials were done. He was the youngest by five years in the original five, so it was only natural for him to be dropped out of the group. However, one of the CEOs saw great potential in him, being flexible enough to agree with the decision to further his training to possibly become a solo artist. With Shinsuke also being Japanese, he would be able to easily extend his solo career into Japan if Night Circus proves to succeed, and possibly excel, within their first two years of active promotions.

Hotaru Kisumi was part of the original lineup for Night Circus but decided to drop out of it after the Sewol Ferry Tragedy for personal reasons. She and Jiwool originally created the 92-line between themselves with the original five. However, she did not drop out of the company completely, deciding to simply stay at the time and the CEOs understood completely. Eventually, the CEOs did further planning and decided that if Shinsuke did proceed to become successful after Night Circus, Kisumi would debut with another trainee in 2018, believing Kisumi really does have the talent to become an idol.

Lee Soohyun was scouted in early 2014, five months before Night Circus’ debut. She had great potential, about to be offered to become the eighth member of Night Circus, but due to her health decline history in SM Entertainment, the CEOs of KB Entertainment became anxious debuting her so soon. However, with her chosen card and adaptable nature, they deemed her the perfect partner for Kisumi in the future. They simply hope with their more laidback nature with trainees, Soohyun will be better mentally and physically by the time they need her to debut in three years.

However, these three trainees and both CEOs realized one thing: their debuts completely depended on the expectations and succession of Night Circus. If they did not succeed, the company will delay the soloist’s debut, and in consequence, the duet’s debut. If they do not recover, KB Entertainment will eventually close down within five years.

Chapter 32: Okay lots to comment about! 8D

First... Sleepy Sookhyun is too funny! XD And I was wondering who would be roommates for this trip! LOL trust Seungheon to be one of the last out (that "hairstyle is important" part XDDDD) And Poor maknae! Don't grow up too fast!!! D8 And lol~ lost Seungie is lost. And then Jaesun is lost! XD For some reason that whole part made me laugh more than I should have. ^^" But poor Min, having to lead pretty much all the crew as well as the group! >.< Why did Seungheon get switched to the other van though? To support Min? Honestly I feel like they have a good bond going since the whole getting lost incident before their debut performance. ^o^ TBH I liked Yongha & Jiwool's interactions a lot! Especially the "You're not all newbies" and "We're all rookies though" exchange. ^^

Chapter 32: I love the members' interactions with each other! They're so nice and caring it's so cute.
They're performing at a festival and filming! So exciting :D
I can't wait to see the depth of each character that you mentioned! It's hard to portray it, but you've been doing great. :3
And defiantly can't wait to see the website!

Chapter 32: xDD totally loved how clueless Jaesun felt when Min and Soonwook were talking about the filming location! I mean, out of everyone, you would never expect Jaesun to not know something and he's a leader xD
Min got me worried :( hope everything is ok. It would be nice of the members teamed up to try cheer her up and get her mind off things a bit.
loving Jaesun and Hyemi <3 <3 i think it would be cool if Jaesun was Hyemi's to-go-for when she needs a guy advice^^
this way of texting is nice, i really liked it^^
one question, i didn't quite get it when Min said, 'Self-camera'. Did she mean that they should take a group Selfie together or something?

Chapter 31: Happy new year! I like that we already get to see them debut in another country (because these days idols barely promote their first mini album before flying to Japan or wherever to promote). And BTW, lol at everyone crashing Min's room and taking over the phone convo! XD *will comment about the rest ASAP*
