Yifan sat up straight, a wide smile stretched across his face as he stared down at the sketchbook. He giggled to himself as he reached for a pink crayon and drew a big heart on the drawing.

Yifan quickly gathered his crayons and packed them inside his Spiderman bagpack. Without wasting any time, he then grabbed the sketchbook, held it against his chest and sprang off his bed.

Yifan felt butterflies in his stomach begin to spread their wings and he could hear his heart beating out of his chest. He couldn’t wait to show his drawing to Joonmyun.

“Yifan, don’t run! Where are you going?!”

Yifan dashed to the door without even giving his mother a glance. He screamed “I’ll be home before lunch!” and put on his red shoes impatiently.

Yifan shivered slightly when chill morning breeze blew gently against his face. He clenched his teeth to suppress a shiver and quickened his pace. His eyes gleamed in joy as Joonmyun’s house caught his eyes. He opened the gate and ran to the door, knocking it a few times (the bell was far too high up for him to reach).

Yifan could barely catch his breath when the door opened after a few seconds, revealing Joonmyun’s older brother, Siwon. He grinned and quickly bowed to the older male. “Good morning, Siwon hyung. Is Joonmyun inside?”

“Morning, little dragon.” Siwon smiled warmly and crouched down so his eyes were on the same level as the small boy’s eyes. “Joonmyun is inside his room. He’s playing with his friend.”

“F-friend?” Yifan’s brows knitted together and he couldn’t help but feel uneasy. “Who?”

Siwon stood up and ruffled Yifan’s hair. “Kyungsoo, I think? I’ve never seen him before. Joonmyun said he’s his kindergarten classmate.”

The very familiar name made Yifan’s chest ache with jealousy. His shoulder slumped and he gripped his sketchbook tighter.

Siwon quirked an eyebrow to see Yifan’s lips slightly curved downward. He let out a soft chuckle before gently pushing Yifan forward. “Go to Joonmyun’s room and play with them. I’ll bring some cookies and milk for you.”

Yifan just nodded in response and dragged his feet towards Joonmyun’s room.

Yifan stopped his tracks in front of the door of Joonmyun’s room and took in a sharp breath. He reached for the doorknob and paused when he heard laughter and giggles from the inside of the room.

Yifan puffed his cheeks. He just didn’t like the idea of knowing that other people could see Joonmyun’s happy face. He despised the thought of sharing Joonmyun with someone else.

Yifan shoved his thoughts to the back of his mind and twisted the doorknob slowly. He pushed the door open and peeked inside the room.

Yifan’s lips curved downward seeing Joonmyun and a boy both lying on their stomach on the bed. The boy whispered something in Joonmyun’s ear, earning another round of squeals and giggles from the fair-skinned boy.

“Joonmyun-ah…”

Yifan’s voice made Joonmyun lifted up his head and turned around. “Yifan?”

A smile quickly found its way to Yifan’s face as Joonmyun’s sweet voice filled his ears. He stood at the doorframe and waved his hand at Joonmyun. “Morning, Joonmyun.”

Joonmyun’s eyes were sparkling as he smiled back at Yifan. He climbed out of his bed and went to Yifan’s side.

Yifan’s smile widened and he quickly reached out to hold Joonmyun’s small hand.

Joonmyun’s hand was soft and warm on Yifan’s cold skin and he couldn’t help but smile in shy when the smaller boy intertwined their fingers.

“Yifan, your hand is cold.” Joonmyun said and ran his thumb over Yifan’s knuckles gently. “Are you sick?”

Yifan felt his heart flutter at the simple touch and he could feel a sudden heat rushing to his cheeks. “I-I’m alright. I’m not sick”

“Myunie..”

Yifan’s head snapped up and he narrowed his eyes at the owner of the voice.

Myunie?

“Owh.” Joonmyun smacked his forehead with his palm lightly. “Yifan, that’s Kyungsoo. You saw him a few days ago. Do you remember him?”

Yifan nodded stiffly, lips pursed into a straight line and his grip on Joonmyun’s hand tightened.

“I’m Joonmyun’s friend, Do Kyungsoo.” Kyungsoo flashed a grin at Yifan from the bed but quickly lowered his head when the taller boy glared at him.

Yifan’s eyes fixed at Kyungsoo. “Wu Yifan, Joonmyun’s bestfriend.”

Joonmyun jumped in delight and a bright smile immediately adorned his face. “Wonderful! Now you two know each other.”

 Joonmyun pulled Yifan to sit with him on the bed. “What are you doing here, Yifan?”

The corners of Yifan’s lips curled upwards into a smile. “I want to show you my drawing.”

“Drawing?” Joonmyun’s eyes lit up in a split second.

Yifan quickly opened his sketchbook while Joonmyun pressed his lips in anticipation. Yifan was a great artist, Joonmyun thought and he just didn’t understand why his hyung always laughed at Yifan’s drawing.
