God's Gifts“Eomma, please wake up…jebal…ireona! Eomma! Don’t leave me!” tears trickled down onto the cold, pale face of the aged woman. The sun still shone brightly on the face of Earth and the rays still made the room filled with life. But all these beautiful gifts from God could never bring her back to life.
Sulli couldn’t stop crying and wailing. What was she left with once all this has ended? No home, no money and most importantly, no love. Family? What is family to our dear Sulli once her mother’s body is being buried deep down? The only family member she ever knew since she opened her eyes as cute chubby baby was ‘Eomma’. Yes, she had no one to call ‘Appa’, ‘Oppa’ or even ‘Eonnie’.
Friends? Could such word of relationship be offered to a child of poverty and had a single parent? Well at least, not for having friends of her age. The neighbours could only sigh and offer brief hugs for Sulli. They , themselves, were one of those hypocrites who look down on people suffering the same fate as Sulli.
