Graduation Day
We hadn't met for several months, a year almost. Too busy with our own lives to care for more than a simple "Hi, how are you?" that soon turned into just a small polite smile when we bumped into each other in the big school. We had gone back to being strangers, forgetting our shared memories, our secret bond.
I saw her again that day as I stood in the great hall among my fellow classmates. She wore her graduation robe like everybody else. But unlike others, she looked absolutely dashing. As always I may add. She has always been a beauty, and that day I took the opportunity of admiring her from the side. Every small smile, every laugh, every frown, and every pout was unexpectedly heartwarming to see. And I was surprised to feel my heart's rate increase when she glanced at me before smiling briefly.
I talked to her after the ceremony. Briefly. We took a picture together as well. All too soon though, she left the hall, talking animatedly to her friends , and I was left to gaze at her back, trying to calm down my racing heart.
