The day following the audition was anti-climatic, to say the least. Taeran had watched with casual indifference as everyone anxiously prepared for the last minute evaluations their beloved company threw in their direction. There were a selected few who ended up in tears, suffering from a complete mental breakdown but most just looked uneasy.
Taeran wanted to say that she felt the same anxiety gnawing in the pits of her stomach as she tirelessly practiced the dance moves, but she didn’t. As she strutted across the sky-blue background of the practice room, she felt nothing. As she dipped her head a little, introducing herself to the judges, she didn’t allow the scrutinizing stares of the judges weigh her down. She received the usual critique; about how her dance moves weren’t crisp or sharp enough. The judges felt they couldn’t immerse in her piece
She should have walked out, thinking “oh my god, they hate my performance” but she didn’t. She should have broken down, tearful but she didn’t. She left the studio in one piece, the experience not bothering her that much to say the least. As she walked home that day, she thought about how she felt really tired and for the first time in a long time, she slept well.
