Eunjoo stopped practicing for a mere second, eyeing the purple watch on her right wrist – three thirty. It had already been half an hour since lunch break – she hasn’t eaten yet and her number and yet to be called out. She inhaled, taking a deep breath as she leaned against the mirror. She looked up, scanning the room quickly.

It was surprising that only mere hours ago, the room was literally occupied with trainees. Right now, only half of the girls remained. Some of them were huddled together in small groups, chatting in whispers that travelled across the room easily. Eunjoo could sense the female eyeing them, eyes narrowed in obvious irritation at the hint of conversation; she didn’t like that they weren’t taking this seriously. Some of them had their eyes glued on their phone, probably checking their Twitter or Instagram or whatever. Then there were the other half, busy practicing. Eyes glued to their lyrics or the mirror – whether it be singing, rapping or dancing. These half were the desperate ones; trying to hold on to even the tiny amount of time, slipping from their grasp. Eunjoo happened to be one of them – she couldn’t help it though. The thought of those figures boring holes into her as she tried to impress them -

Her fingers tightened around the sleeve of her shirt, holding onto it to sooth her nerves.

Just as she was about to get up to practice her routine again, the female staff called out, “1078”. Her body freezes.
