“The problem is… I’m afraid”

Gunhee gasped as he looked at his friend who looked unusually serious. Ever since they met again after all these years, he rarely saw the serious side of the other. At times he would be serious at first but then he'd laugh it off and say he was joking. However, this time it seemed different.

“Afraid? The great Kim Heechul afraid? Afraid of what?” Gunhee asked

“Making her my girlfriend” said Heechul

“You're kidding right? That would've been the last thing that I'd expect you to say” said Gunhee

“I'm being serious here!” Heechul shouted

“Okay, I'll just ask. Why are you, Kim Heechul, suddenly afraid of her??” asked Gunhee

“I'm not afraid of her. I'm afraid of what I might do to her” Heechul explained

“So sleeping with her wasn't enough? I think that’s as far could go” Gunhee said

“It's me. I hate myself for being this way but I can't help it” Heechul continued

“Would you mind being a little vaguer?” said Gunhee

“You see how attached she was? We slept together once and now she wants to go on a date” said Heechul

“But I thought you said it was you?” said the other

“I mean, if she's like that then we can't be together” Heechul said

“Wait a minute. Are you saying that you want to be with her forever?” asked Gunhee

“Ugh. Don't use that word” said Heechul

“Then what do you want me to say? I only know the Kin Heechul from Gangwon-do not the big celebrity you’ve become” Gunhee said

“ I haven't changed” Heechul said

*ding dong*

He rang the doorbell one more time but there was no answer. He kicked the door but was only met by silence. He took out his phone then started dialing.

“야 (hey)!” shouted Heechul

“Huh?”

“Why don't you open the door?!” he shouted

“What door? I'm at the shop in Cheongdam” said Gunhee

“You're not at Dana's place?” Heechul asked

“Why would I be there?” asked Gunhee

“Aren't you like her slave or something?”

“Not 24/7. Besides, she went back to Beijing last night. Wait, why are you even there? Don't you have work?” Gunhee asked

“Public holiday, ”

Heechul hung up on Gunhee then went straight to the elevator that was around the corner. As he waited for the lift, he looked at his reflection on the gold doors in front of him. Why was he there? What possessed him to go to her place all of a sudden?

As soon as the doors opened, he glanced back at her door then went on.

“Wel---come...”

Heechul slumped down on the couch that was next to the glass window while Gunhee looked at him with a hairdryer in his hands.

“May I ask yet again?” Gunhee said

A few customers at the hair salon were looking at Heechul for obvious reasons but he ignored every one of them. Gunhee looked at the customer he was attending to through the mirror and finished doing her hair.

“I'm not in the mood to talk” Heechul said
