Entering the Maze
Trapped in the Maze"What just happened? Was I imagining things?" Jaehwan rubbed his eyes as if the leader would reappear if he did so. Hyuk remained motionless, trying to figure out what had just happened. He was wished Hakyeon would disappear and then he did.
But where did he go?
Why did he disappear?
Hyuk was in shock. He remembered how Hakyeon's face had contorted into panic a moment before he vanished. What if Hakyeon was dead because of him?
Hyuk slowly turned to face Jaehwan. The normally very chatty singer was silent, his mouth opening and closing like a fish as he tried to find the words to explain the situation. His eyes never leaving where Hakyeon sat just a moment before.
"Did you just see that?" He finally spoke. Pointing to the now vacant ledge. The maknae only nodded. Good. At least this meant that they were both crazy.
The first thing Hyuk did was go investigate the spot where Hakyeon had been literally moments before. No hole in the roof. No way he could have fallen off the ledge due to the fence. What the hell happened?
Hyuk thought he knew, but he hadn't realized. He looked down at the black piece of leather strapped around his wrist. He remembered the sleep walking episode, but had it really been sleepwalking. There had been a few times when other members had done similar things, but everyone just blamed the events on fatigue. What if this bracelet really granted wishes?
"I wish Hakyeon were back?" Hyuk tried, but he was unsure of how the wish policy worked.
There was no such luck.
"We have to go tell the others." Jaehwan said, panic rising in his voice. How were they supposed to explain this without sounding completely crazy?
"What if they don't believe us?" Hyuk sat in the same spot Hakyeon was sitting, still hoping that this was a joke. He hoped any moment now Hakyeon would jump out from behind a corner and announce that it was all a hoax.
Instead, Hyuk found himself following Jaehwan, who was shaking nervously, into their dorm.
"Guys, Hakyeon disappeared." Jaehwan said, but none of the other members really seemed interested. They knew that Hakyeon liked drama after all.
"Have you tried his cell phone?" Wonsik asked, not looking up from his laptop.
"No, I'm serious. He disappeared right in front of us." The comment earned a raised eyebrow from Hongbin.
"What do you mean he disappeared 'right in front of you'?" Hongbin asked, finally understanding what the two panicked members were trying to explain.
"I mean one moment he was there, and the next moment he was gone!" Hyuk yelled. Wonsik finally looked away from his laptop and Taekwoon peeked his head out from the kitchen. The two singers had finally gotten the attention of the other three.
"What do we do? Who do we tell?" Jaehwan asked, speaking so fast that they could barely understand him.
"First let's call the manager and then we'll get to the bottom of this." Wonsik calmly explained to the frenzied singer. He sat the brunette down on the couch. The poor boy looked like he would collapse at any moment.
Hyuk was still in shock, but finally remembered to explain the bracelet. "Guys, I think I know what happened." The maknae announced before sitting on the couch next to Jaehwan.
"I think that this bracelet grants wishes. Just a second before he disappeared I had wished Hakyeon would disappear." Hyuk confessed. He was ready to be scolded by the other members, but the anger never came.
"Did you try wishing for his to come back?" Hongbin asked, a little bit of skepticism in his voice. Hyuk nodded. Based on Hakyeon's absence, they could all assume that it didn't work.
"Where did you get that bracelet from?" Wonsik asked as he moved closer to take a better look. Hyuk tried to take the bracelet off to show him, but the bracelet wouldn't come off of his wrist.
"It was in a fan letter. Why won't this thing come off?" Hyuk answered. He tried pulling the leather band off, but only succeeded in making his wrist raw and sore.
"What does it even say?" Hongbin asked, noticing the foreign marks that wrapped around the band.
"I have no idea. It came with a letter, but I can't read that either." He ran to his room and retrieved the envelope. The maknae was glad that he hadn't thrown it away.
"Tomorrow we should post it on the fan site and see if anyone can read it." Taekwoon suggested from the kitchen. Everyone agreed that it was too late to try and accomplish anything so late at night. They all laid in their beds worried. Where had Hakyeon gone?
The flaming redhead stood before a pair of black gates. He didn't know how he had gotten there. Only moments ago he was on the rooftop, but now he was in an unfamiliar place. The sky was a dark grey and lightning would flash every now and then. The earth beneath his feet was equally as grey and very rocky. This was a desolate land. Everything was a dark grey.
He turned around to see he was surrounded by the edge of a cliff. Looking down, he couldn't see the bottom, but could hear the far away sounds of water crashing into the bottom. Who knew how far down the waves were though.
Turning back to the black gates, he moved closed to examine them. The bars were covered in spikes that he was sure were sharp. The gate was connected to a large grey concrete wall. Looking up, the wall seemed to go on forever. He couldn't see the top.
"Are you scared?" An airy voice asked from behind him. The dancer jumped and turned around quickly. How did anyone get behind him?
When he turned he saw someone who could only be described as ethereal. A woman stood before him. Her thick wavy hair hung down her back and swayed softly in the wind. She gazed upon him with cold blue eyes.
"I asked, are you scared?" She asked again, a hint of annoyance in her voice.
Hakyeon was shocked by her sudden appearance. There was no where she could have come from other than the edge of the cliff. He opened his mouth to answer her, but the sounds wouldn't come out. His voice was still missing. He nodded instead. Of course he was scared. He had no idea where he was.
"Oh you can't speak? That's alright. You don't need your voice here. The rules are simple. I am Talin, guardian of the maze. If you reach the center, then you can return home." Hakyeon nodded. It sounded simple enough.
"However, if you die here you will remain trapped in the maze for all eternity." Hakyeon gulped. The loud squealing of the gates opening behind him caused him to turn around quickly. He looked at the path in front of him. It didn't look so bad. He turned back around only to find that the woman was gone.
Looking back to the maze, he began walking.
So finally I got to the main plot. A lot of you probably already guessed that the bracelet was the cause. I didn't hide it very well. Please let me know what you think.
