J.Y. Park doesn't view JYPE as one of the 'Big 3'

J.Y. Park recently sat down for an interview ahead of his upcoming 20th anniversary concert and answered some burning questions that reporters had for him. Some of the topics discussed were whether he feels pressure due to JYP Entertainment's title as being one of the 'Big 3'

Considering that JYP Entertainment has been relatively free of scandals compared to some other agencies this year, the producer was also asked if there are any issues with the foreign members and the agency and the secret to remaining relatively scandal-free.

He replied, "Rather than picking kids with talent, I usually pick the ones who are righteous and kind. That's why in the past 20 years, our company has only had one problem that was related to legal matters. That was Nichkhun's drunk driving accident. Besides this, we have never had any other major happenings. That, to me, is what I'm the most proud of, rather than 'how much did our company make'. JYP Entertainment artists are forbidden from going to events where they are handed cash, they are also not allowed to enter hostess joints. If they do, they are immediately fired. If the employees do something wrong, they must leave. I've never told them 'go and make our company money'. All I've said to them is 'Let's grow our company in an honest manner'. Even if the National Tax Board comes in to investigate, there is no problem to be found because we are so honest. I was investigated once for tax, but the investigator told me 'I will forever be your fan' and left. He told me 'I didn't know you were [such an honest] person like this'. I'm a person with no money, but I always made sure to be very diligent about doing taxes. I don't have an expensive car, nor an expensive watch or a house."

Since JYP Entertainment has long held the title of being one of the 'Big 3' agencies, it was asked whether he felt any pressure of living up to that title. His answer was 'no' because he didn't think the agency held such a title.

"I don't have any pressure of JYP Entertainment being one of the Big 3. I've never felt anxious about it either... JYP is not a 'Big 3' agency... I have no intention of running a company with that kind of anxious mindset."
