You almost choke on the meat you’re chewing. Kris immediately pats your back and hands you a glass of water

“I still have no plans on marrying him too soon” you say after you’ve calmed down

The next day, you were awakened by the doorbell. You lazily stand up and wonder who that could be, it was 6 in the morning for heaven’s sake.

You were ready to yell at the person on the other person on the other side of the door but stopped when you heard Kris’ voice

“baby, I know you’re already awake. Open the door please? These bags are heavy”

You opened the door and glared at Kris “you don’t have the right to call me baby”

“yes, I do. I’m your boyfriend”

“you’re not my boyfriend.”

“yes, I am.” Kris scoots in to enter the house with the heavy grocery bags

“man, these bags are heavy” he says as he entered the kitchen

“what are those?” you say and peek through the kitchen door

“I’m gonna cook breakfast for us”

“are you sure?”

“of course I am. I’m a great cook” Kris smiles at you “you’ll fall in love with me because of how of a great cook I am aside from the fact that I’m so handsome” he then laughs

“oh god, you’re so full of yourself” you then face palm “I’m going to see if Ace is already awake” you then head upstairs.

“he’s still asleep” you say as you enter the kitchen

“that’s okay, we need to have breakfast in a quiet and undisturbed manner. We need to talk about the wedding” Kris says as he placed the food on the table

“you’re kidding right?”

“no, I’m not” Kris says and motions you to sit

“wow! This is delicious!” you say as you take a spoonful of fried rice

“we’re going to Canada next month” Kris says as he bites into a piece of ham

“what? Why?” your jaw almost dropped

“you’re meeting my family. I’ve already arranged the papers, my mom wants to see his grandson” he smiles and looks at you

You almost spit out the food you were chewing

“do you think your mom would like me?” you whisper

“are you kidding? I’ve always told her about you. She really wants to meet you. She’s happy that she’s finally going to have a daughter to take care of”

“are you being sarcastic or teasing?” you say annoyed

“you don’t believe me? Wait” Kris pulls out his phone and dials a number, after a few seconds Kris puts it on speaker phone

“mom” Kris starts speaking English

“yes, my precious baby, you called?” his mom’s voice sounded so loving and thoughtful. You suddenly giggled

“oh, who’s that with you? Is that her?”

“yes mom, it’s her” Kris looks at you

“oh, hi sweetie. So how did my son trick you to be his girlfriend?” his mom laughed

Kris looked at you and noticed that you were staring blankly. Kris then thought that maybe you didn’t understand. Kris was about to open his mouth when you suddenly spoke

“hi, Mrs Wu. Even I don’t know how your son got me to be his girlfriend” you spoke in fluent english

“wow, you speak english fluently, I can’t wait to meet you sweetie and please call me mom. I feel like I’m too old if you call me Mrs Wu”

“okay, mom” you then giggle

“ah, that’s better”

“so when are the three of you coming over? I want to see my cute grandson”

“we’re coming over next week, mom” Kris says

“okay honey. It’s already late here. So I’ll say good night now, is that okay?”

“yes, mom”

“your mom’s very sweet” you say to Kris

“I didn’t know you could speak english.” Kris was amazed

“there are a lot of things that you don’t know about me, Yifan.” You giggle

“how about you? Where’s your parents? So you know, I could ask them for your hand in marriage” Kris asks

“I no longer have parents” you bow

“oh, I’m sorry” Kris then hugs you “I didn’t know. I’m sorry that I asked”

“no, it’s okay.” You hug him back.
