“Get over here, you little !”

“Let go of me, you sick bastard!”

“It’s your fault!  EVERYTHING IS YOUR FAULT!”

“No, it’s not!  Leave me the alone!”

“YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE BEEN BORN!  YOU RUINED MY LIFE!”

“THEN KILL ME!”

BANG.

~

Loud scream.  Heavy pants.  Sweat dripping.  Dilated eyes.

“HaNeul!  What’s wrong?!” TaeIl inquired as he ran over and hugged her tightly.  She clenched his shirt tightly and cried, trying to regain her breathing rhythm.  “It’s okay, you’re okay…you just had a bad dream…”

HaNeul wiped her tears and nodded as TaeIl comforted her.

“Oppa…do you think…I shouldn’t have been born…”

His eyes widened in shock and confusion.

“HaNeul…why would you even think that…you know I love you…and I would be so sad if you weren’t here with me…”  He wiped the rest of her tears before pecking her on the forehead and hugging her again.  She sniffled a few more times, finally calming down.  “Now stop this nonsense, okay?  We need to go to school.”

She nodded in agreement.  With one last conformation that she was okay, TaeIl got up and left to get ready for school.

“Mreow…”

HaNeul looked down and smiled with a small chuckle.  She picked up Bullet and him, causing him to purr.

“I’m fine, Bullet.  Thanks for asking~”

“GUYS, BREAKFAST!”

“COMING~!” HaNeul yelled back to her father before putting Bullet down to get dressed for school.

Whispers of students along with unwelcomed glares could be heard as HaNeul walked by.  She apprehensively continued down the hallway with uneasy steps to her classroom.

“People sure are unfriendly here…” she whispered to herself as she entered her home room.  Class hadn’t started yet, so HaNeul made her way over to an empty seat.  She gulped nervously as all the students checked her out.  Trying her best to be as ninja as possible, HaNeul grabbed her bag and made her way for the door.  She seemed misplaced in the room and figured it might be in her best interest to check up with the teacher instead of staying here.  As she glanced the other way to avoid the students’ stares, she bumped straight into another person who attempted to use the same door as her escape.

“I’m sorry!” HaNeul apologized immediately with a 90 degree bow.  Afraid to lift her head, she bit her lip hoping this encounter with the one at the door won’t be one of those forever scarring moments that was going to change her life for the worse.

“Umm…it’s…fine…can you stop bowing?  It’s kinda awkward…” a male voice whispered to her.  It seems Lady Fortune is smiling upon HaNeul today.  She sighed in relief and lifted her head up with a smile.  She gasped in surprise at how tall the male in front of her is.

“You’re…very tall…” she blurted out randomly.

He gave her a funny look but smiled at the statement and laughed a little.  “Thank you?  Your…hair is nice?”

 “Oh, thanks, I didn’t have time to tie it up so I just left it down this morning…I usually do though since my hair curls at the end…” HaNeul paused and turned around to berate herself in her head.  ‘WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?!’

But instead of getting a comment about how odd she is like she figured she was going to get, he chuckled again instead.

“You sure are an interesting person.  I don’t think we’ve met.  My name is Woo JiHo,” he introduced with a smile.  Before HaNeul got a chance to introduce herself, someone beat her to it, pushing himself past JiHo grabbing her hand causing her to jump a bit in surprise.

“Hi, my name is Park Kyung.  What’s your name, gorgeous?” he said in English.  HaNeul giggled awkwardly while covering with her other hand.

“Did you just call me, gorgeous?” HaNeul asked back in Korean before deciding to play along by introducing herself in English.  “My name is Lee HaNeul.  I’m not gorgeous, Kyung-sshi~”

“Yah, Kyung!  Must you in every time I talk to a girl?!” JiHo yelled, pulling Kyung away from HaNeul.

“But she’s not just any girl!  She’s the hot, new transfer student!” Kyung exclaimed excitedly.  HaNeul’s expression mirrored her confusion as she mouthed, “hot,” questionably at no one in particular.

JiHo rolled his eyes and whispered all too loudly at HaNeul, “Ignore him.  He’s like this with all the girls.  We call him the Grease King.”

“JiHo!”

“What?!  It’s true!”

HaNeul laughed at their antics.

“So you had a good day at school?  I was worried the other kids were gonna pick on you,” TaeIl stated truthfully after HaNeul reported her first day to him.

“Yeah, me too!  But I think HoJi and Kyungie made things easier for me.  Wah, I’m glad I ran straight into HoJi or else I would probably still be an outcast, stranded, left to fend for myself in this cruel world known as Home Room 1-C,” HaNeul dramatically recited, hand motions and all to emphasize her “great” turmoil.

“…You are seriously bizarre, you know that, HaNeul-noona?”

 HaNeul blinked in confusion at being called, “noona.”  Her confusion turned into rapture at the familiar face.

“PyoJi!” HaNeul yelled as she full-on charged at the new voice.

“Oh!  JiHoon!” TaeIl called out after HaNeul, also running up to the younger man as HaNeul made contact and nearly tackled JiHoon to the ground.

“TAEIL-HYUNG!  HELP ME!  SHE’S GOING TO EAT ME ALIVE!” he begged, struggling to balance to stay standing as the other body attached itself around his neck and hung from there.  TaeIl merely laughed, removing JiHoon from HaNeul’s clutches.  After doing so, TaeIl hugged JiHoon (much lighter), too.

“How are things?  We didn’t expect to see you so soon!  Is your junior high close to here?” inquired TaeIl.

“I couldn’t wait to see you guys again, so I rushed over here.  And I really want you guys to meet Blockbuster!  They’re awesome and I know TaeIl-hyung’s vocals will be so pro to the group!” JiHoon rambled on and on about how great this group was.  The Lee siblings merely laughed as JiHoon animatedly explained everything he could as they made their way over to the park Blockbuster always hang out at.

HaNeul blinked and pointed with a gasp.

“Ah!  You two!”

The two she was referring to turned around and both let out a short, “Oh.”

TaeIl and JiHoon looked at HaNeul strangely.

“You know them?”

“They’re the ones I was talking about, Tae-oppa!  HoJi and Kyungie!”

“Yah!  I told you to stop calling me HoJi!” JiHo reprimanded uselessly, standing up.  The response only made HaNeul laugh and wave innocently at the two.

“Ah, this is my oppa, Lee-Tae-Il,” HaNeul introduced to JiHo and Kyung, exaggerating her enunciation of each syllable of TaeIl’s name.  “And I’m Lee HaNeul, nice to meet you~”

“Yes…we know, we’ve already met…” JiHo pointed out, making HaNeul laugh again.

“Well, strange, but it seems you’ve met pretty much the lower half of our members…the older members should be here any se-”

Just before Kyung could finish his sentence, the rest of Block B entered and boisterously greeted their fellow members.

“Oh, who is this pretty lady?”

HaNeul blinked and looked around the room thinking this ulzzang must be talking to someone else.  Unable to locate another female in the room, she pointed at herself and tilted her head slightly to the side to illustrate her confusion.  She looked thoughtful for a second before turning to TaeIl.

“Oppa, am I attractive?  That’s the second time today a cute guy said I was.  I’m a bit bemused.”

Silence.  (If they were anime characters, they would have unceremoniously fell over, legs up, twitching and all.)

“…please pardon her…she went to an all-girls junior high school and never had much interaction with guys…our father is protective of her…” TaeIl explained with a sigh.  HaNeul stared back at the boys with a sweet, innocent smile, hands tucked behind her back, and rocked back and forth from her toes to her heels.

“I’ve never been told I was pretty or gorgeous until today~” laughed HaNeul, beaming proudly.  She stopped her rocking and frowned while poked her chin in thought.

“Would this be considered a bad thing?  Because my oppa is going to be in your group, so I’ll be the only female hanging around you guys since I’m attached to my oppa like a leech and can’t be removed even if you spray me with bug spray.  All the girls in the school are going to end up hating me because I’m hanging out with the most popular group in school!  Before I know it, I’ll have my first encounter with rabid fangirls!”

TaeIl did his best to hide himself behind JiHoon.

“You sure have an active imagination there…” the one besides the ulzzang stated with a raised eyebrow.

Another one laughed, “Just like in a shoujo manga!”

“Ah!  That’s what I was thinking of!  How did you know?!” HaNeul exclaimed with a wide smile.

“You read manga, too?” the boy asked with a bright smile and excited eyes.  “What’s your favorite?  I like One Piece~”

HaNeul thought about it deeply as if she was asked what the meaning of life was.  After a few seconds, she pouted and answered, “I can’t pick.  But Death Note and Fullmetal Alchemist are really good.  Ah, but there’s so many good ones, I can’t pick a favorite!  One Piece is good, too.  Oh, Chopper is the absolute cutest thing ever!”

“My favorite character is Chopper, too!  I even have figurines of him!”

“You have to let me see them~”

“Oh gosh, YooKwon…you’re never gonna let me hear the end of this…” groaned the guy next to the ulzzang.

“Hyung, hyung, she’s the coolest girl ever!” he exclaimed, bouncing over to the one that complained, giggling like a school girl.

“Ignore them,” the ulzzang stated, pulling HaNeul’s attention back to him.  He flashed a charming smile and greeted, “My name is Ahn JaeHyo.”

“Lee HaNeul~” she greeted cheerfully.  She ran over, tackled TaeIl from behind, and hung over his shoulder.  “This is my oppa, Lee-Tae-Il~”

“Why are you talking like that?” TaeIl questioned.

“Talking like what?”

“What’s my full name?”

“Lee-Tae-Il?”

“See!  That!”

“What?!”

“Ah, my turn, my turn!” the happy one claimed, even raising his hand.  “My name is Kim YooKwon.  And this is my partner-in-crime, Lee MinHyuk-hyung.”

“You make us sound like criminals, Kwon-ah…” MinHyuk informed with a smirk and YooKwon just responded with a laugh.

HaNeul clapped and cheered, “Yay~ nice to meet everyone from Blockbuster~ take care of my oppa or I’ll be sure none of you live~”

JiHo and Kyung exchanged glances and laughed, patting HaNeul on the back.

“You’re so funny, HaNeul,” Kyung said what was on everyone’s minds.

HaNeul smiled back sweetly.

“I’m not joking.”

Her voice was light and sweet, but for a split second, when she opened her smiling eyes at Kyung, they born deep into him and sent shivers down his back.

“…O-Oh…kay…”

“I wanna hear your songs!” HaNeul suddenly exclaimed while laughing, immediately back to her old spontaneous self as if she didn’t just threaten their lives a few seconds ago.  “You know, Tae-oppa is an AMAZING singer!  You guys are SO lucky to have found him~”

I realize first meetings are kind of awkward and boring…so I tried to make it more interesting…
