The two stared at me encouraging, waiting for me to respond.  They both leaned in closer, YooKwon with a smile and MinHyuk with a straight face and raised eyebrow.  I tried my best to please them.

“So let me get this straight…you’re telling me…that I’ve been in a coma for…3 years-”

“2 years, 8 months, 13 days…7 hours and…when did I wake up again?”

Now it was our turn to stare at the innocent (ridiculous, but innocent) looking boy.

“…Thank you, YooKwon.  She needed to know that you’ve been counting the seconds she would wake up…you creeper.”

MinHyuk hooked his arm around YooKwon’s neck as he stupidly grinned at me.

“…Right…2 years…8… …yeah, what he said.   I’ve been in a coma for that long and my brain got bored and made up a completely different world to keep myself entertained?”

YooKwon scratched his head and mumbled, “Well…when you put it that way…it does sound a bit strange…but it’s true!  I really am your boyfriend!  He means nothing to you!  NOTHING!”

“…Again, thank you, YooKwon.  Your words…so helpful right now.  Really…” MinHyuk interjected once more, pushing YooKwon’s accusing finger back down.

“I mean, if you guys even think it sounds ridiculous, how am I supposed to believe you?  How would you feel if you woke up and were told the last 16 years of your life was a dream?”

“…HaNeulie…you’re…turning 22 this year…” YooKwon mumbled in a shy manner.

“…Excuse me?”

“You just graduated from high school when you fell into a coma,” MinHyuk clarified since YooKwon seemed to be much better at making more problems than solving them for me.

“…No, I’m should be 16…”

“You’re 21.”

“…and dating you…”

“You’re dating this kid.  Lucky you.”

“…and he tried to me…”

“…maybe in his own dreams.”

“I WOULD NEVER THINK OF DOING SUCH A THING!”

“… because he got dumped by HaYoung…”

“Who is HaYoung?”

 “…and Tae-oppa is dating a witch named SooEun…”

“TaeIl-hyung is dating SooEun…but witch is…not the term you used to describe her…”

“You just…denied everything I said…”

“Because it’s all WRONG.”

“Hey, hey!  Don’t yell at her!  It’s not her fault she’s confused!” YooKwon defended.  I sighed.  If what they said is true, then that means I have a whole load of reorganizing to do…

“RAAAAARGH!”

They jumped back again in surprised as I messed up my own hair in frustration.

“Ohhhh, gosh, I have a headache…”

“This is probably too much information to take in at once…we should probably talk to the doctors about this…” MinHyuk realized, leaving to see the doctor.  I sighed, exhausted by this whole mess.  I flinched when I felt a warm hand covering mine.  I looked up and saw YooKwon smiling brightly at me.

“Don’t worry…I’ll be with you, so you won’t be alone through any of this.”

My eyes widened.  That thought triggered something from my memory.

Because I’ll be with you, so you don’t have to be alone anymore.

“…you…said that…when I was sleeping…”

He blinked and stared with shock written all over his face.

“…how…how did you…know that…”

When he confirmed this fact for me, my face mirrored his own.

“Oh gosh…you have got to be kidding me…” I mumbled to myself as my eyes darted back and forth, personifying what my brain was doing, as if I was actually looking through my latest “memories.”  I gulped down the pool of saliva building in my mouth as my throat started to feel dry.  “Get out.”

“…eh?”

His wide smile just shined at me like a blinding light.

And for some reason, it really pissed me off.

“GET OUT!”

His stupid, adorable puppy face…he looked so hurt…like I stepped on his tail or something…don’t give me that cute pouty face!  I will not cave!  WILL NOT!

So with his tail drooped head down, he left with a sad sigh.

Argh, as if my memories weren’t messed up enough, I don’t need emotions to mess with my head more!

How can you do that to Kwonnie-oppa?!

I looked around the room with shifty eyes to see if there was someone hiding behind the curtains and was screwing with my head.  Really, if there was, I would have beaten the out of them and defenestrated them in a second.  I wonder how high up I am…over 5 floors should be enough…

Wah!  I can’t believe you could have been me!

“Okay, seriously?!  Who the hell are you and what are you doing in my head?!” I screamed in frustration.  If anyone else was in the room, they would have sent me to an asylum…or at least suggest I get a psychiatrist.

I’m you.  Or what you could have been.

You’re…me…wha…can you…speak in a language I understand?

I’m what you wish you could have had.  For three years you’ve been dreaming of a completely different world.

…don’t look at me like that!  You’re the one that wanted this.

Why?  Why in the hell would I want to live a lie?  That’s absolutely ridiculous.

The girl sighed.

I’ve stopped time for you, HaNeul.  You can continue life again without worrying.  Do you think you would have done all of this if you wanted to remember? Sweetie~ just go with the flow and pretend you don’t know a thing.  Don’t you trust yourself?

Okay…if you just woke up and suddenly a voice in your head was telling you to trust you because it’s you, would you trust you…me…it?

Yeah, why not?  Sounds like a plan!

…uh huh…right…so, I don’t know what you/I might think is best for me/us…but I will decided what is best for me/us…you…me…

But HaNeul!  I’ve made you a better world!  This is what you wanted!

I WILL DECIDE FOR MYSELF WHAT I WANT!  I mean…I…I-myself will decide…without you-myself…are you sure you’re me and not some mutant alien creature that crawled into my head when I was sleeping and took over my brain?  Because let me tell you, I am VERY suspicious of you-me.

You do realize you’re having a fight with yourself, right?

OH , DON’T TELL ME I’M BIPOLAR!

 “…HaNeul…you okay?”

The voice snapped me out of my daze and I finally realized that I was panting heavily and pulling out my hair like a madwoman.  I glanced left and right at the boys.  I smiled and put my hands down immediately, pretending I wasn’t insane.

“I’m fine~” I did my best to act innocent before blinking and thinking out loud, “Wait…no…this is weird for me, right…I should be throwing things…or something…”

“…Hyung…” YooKwon whined softly.  “I think my girlfriend is broken…”

“I am not broken, Kwonnie-oppa!  …I mean YooKwon-oppa…YooKwon?  Kwon-ah?” I trailed off, trying to figure out what I called him again.

“Yes, great.  Thank you both for your input.  Now, HaNeul, the doctor said that you’re probably a little…” MinHyuk made circles around the side of his head to make his point causing me to throw my pillow at him.  “So we’re gonna help you remember.”

I folded my arms and stared at them skeptically.  “And how do I know you guys aren’t trying to mess with my head anymore?”

“So you want to just be completely oblivious to your own life?” MinHyuk challenged.  I huffed at him, but didn’t respond.  “Yeah, that’s what I thought.”

I sighed in defeat, “Alright, fine, where are you gonna start?”

“Oh, oh!  I wanna go first!” YooKwon called out in excitement.  “You wanna know how you met me?”

He giggled cutely like a 10 year-old girl.

“YooKwon…will you be okay?”

“Huh, oh, Hyung, what did the doctor say?” YooKwon asked quickly to avoid MinHyuk’s first question.

“He said she seems better than great physically considering she’s been in a coma for 3 years.  But the issue with her memory needs to be fixed immediately before her brain adjusts too quickly to her dreams and accepts it as truth.  It can cause her a lot of migraines when her real memories collide with the fake ones.  So the earlier the better to get things sorted out in her head,” MinHyuk answered when YooKwon got kicked out of HaNeul’s room.

“I see…but where do we even start?  From the very beginning until now of her 22 years?” he thought in confusion.  MinHyuk shook his head.

“The doctor says that only the memories that left the strongest impressions on her would be the most useful to jogging her memories back.”

YooKwon nodded in understanding and smiled, stretching his arms up.  He was ready to go back in and tell her everything he knows.

“Kwonnie-ah…”

“Hm?”

“…if HaNeul doesn’t remember you…if she changes…what will you do?”

YooKwon looked down at the ground, but smiled sadly.

“Stand by her.  She will stand again.  And she will get better…with or without me, I will wait for her until she comes back,” YooKwon reasoned before putting his goofy smile back on, ready to go entertain HaNeul.

But MinHyuk knew every time YooKwon smiled or laughed, he was frowning or crying on the inside.

Because to YooKwon, HaNeul was someone that made him who he is.
