Cover Girl

Worlds Apart

YooKwon sighed as he tucked HaNeul into bed. She came home freezing with a headache sprouting crazy ideas at him. He would kill JaeHyo for not taking care of her but that would just be taking his anger out on a scapegoat. He was worried. Since his schedule is so packed, he hasn’t even had the time to make sure HaNeul is doing okay. He know how tough it must have been for her recently, making him feel all the more useless. With a peck on her forehead, he whispered good night and turned off the lights. He still had dance practice.

“Is she okay?” JaeHyo asked with pure guilt on his face. YooKwon chuckled.

“She’s asleep now. Don’t worry, Hyung. I’ve decided you can live for another day,” he joked, getting his stuff ready to go to the studio.

“YooKwon…”

“Hm?”

“Kim DongJun…I don’t trust him and you shouldn’t either.”

YooKwon stopped and turned around. JaeHyo wasn’t quite sure what YooKwon’s reaction to his statement was. It was a mixture between irritation and anger.

“What are you talking about?”

“They aren’t just childhood friends. I asked what he was to HaNeul and he told me it was a secret. He probably did it mainly to piss me off, but I can tell you he isn’t lying either. There’s something between them. HaNeul’s migraine happened immediately while talking to him alone. I would be careful,” JaeHyo reported seriously to show that he wasn’t joking around this time.

“What are you talking about, Hyung? I trust HaNeul. Even if she doesn’t remember everything, I am confident her feelings for me are still the same,” YooKwon answered back with a glare.

“It’s not HaNeul you need to be careful of,” JaeHyo cleared up.

~

There was a dance battle happening in a week so B-Bomb and U-Kwon were the only ones that needed extra dance practice after all their schedules were over in the day. From the very beginning, YooKwon was making mistakes he didn’t usually make, causing MinHyuk to suspect something was up. He stopped the music during one of their runs and sighed.

“Let’s take a break.”

YooKwon nodded in agreement and grabbed a bottle of Gatorade. He handed it to MinHyuk after he was finished with it, who took a big gulp out of it.

“So what’s up? You aren’t concentrating very well today,” MinHyuk asked as he sat down next to YooKwon. The younger boy just kept staring down at an arbitrary spot on the floor.

“Hyung…if…you had to pick between your boyfriend that you kinda forgot your feelings for or your first love that you just discovered your feelings for…who would you pick?”

MinHyuk stared at YooKwon.

“…I’m gonna take a wild guess and say something happened with HaNeul today?”

MinHyuk just stared at YooKwon for a good few silent seconds. After the wordless exchange, YooKwon groaned in annoyance and squirmed around.

“Don’t give me that look! I know, I know! I’m being paranoid and stupid and uselessly jealous! It’s not like I don’t trust her!” whined YooKwon.

“So what’s the problem?” MinHyuk sighed.

“…I don’t know…I just keep thinking…maybe…maybe I’m not good enough for her…and she wants to be with someone else…” he mumbled softly.

“Oh gosh, you’re an idiot.”

“Hyuuuuung~!”

“Come on, seriously? Are we gonna go through this again? Do I need to steal HaNeul away from you again so you understand?” he stated plainly with bored eyes, clearly not too interested in having to go through all that bothersome work again.

On the other hand, YooKwon panicked and shook his head repeatedly.

“Noooo! If you do that, HaNeulie might actually fall for you! Hyung is so cool and handsome that she might not be able to help herself!” he cried out, voicing his inner turmoil.

“…you really are an idiot…”

MinHyuk chuckled, continued watching YooKwon make a fool out of himself with his insecurities. He knew his dance partner well. As funny as it was that he was pulling at his hair and shaking his head like a madman, MinHyuk knew YooKwon was really troubled by this. He was very insecure when it came to HaNeul. It was strange. After everything the two had been through, you would think he would be a lot more confident of their relationship.

But for some reason, he had put up this strange wall between him and HaNeul. The kid has always felt that HaNeul was unreachable even when she was standing right in front of him. How ironic considering YooKwon was the one that was the idol.

Oh well…as YooKwon’s forever-awesome Hyung…he would help the poor innocent boy out…

Just like he did last time.

~

MinHyuk sat at the table and shifted eyes at the two people making the most awkward atmosphere for breakfast he ever had the “privilege” to partake in.

He groaned in frustration at the two of them ready to knock their heads together.

Finally, he slammed his hands on the table and yelled, “YOU TWO HAVE ALREADY KISSED! WHAT MORE OF AN INVITATION DO YOU GUYS NEED THAT YOU LIKE EACH OTHER?!”

YooKwon and HaNeul stared up at him in shock at his words, only words they could hear was kissed.

HaNeul slowly raised her hand as if they were in a class being lectured by a teacher. MinHyuk glared at her in confusion.

“…Yes…HaNeul?”

“Can I just…confirm something?” she questioned quietly.

“…what?” MinHyuk grumbled in annoyance at the two love-challenged idiots in front of him.

Rather than answering his question, HaNeul stood up, grabbed MinHyuk by the collar and slammed her lips into his. Completely shocked at her unexpected action, MinHyuk was frozen solid. When he finally came back into his senses, he shoved her away and gave her a menacing glare.

“What the was that for?!” he growled as he wiped his mouth. Not bothered by his reaction at all, HaNeul merely looked deep in thought. On the other hand, YooKwon felt his heart break into pieces seeing HaNeul kiss MinHyuk. He was right after all. He shouldn’t have kissed her. MinHyuk was her boyfriend and clearly the two of them had feelings for each ot-

“…holy …” MinHyuk mumbled as HaNeul suddenly grabbed YooKwon by the collar and kissed him…except the kiss HaNeul and YooKwon was sharing was nothing like the one he had just exchanged with HaNeul. What started out as a surprise attack turned into mutual consent as the kiss shared between two innocent individuals turned rough and needy.

As HaNeul pulled away, panting out of lack of oxygen, she stared into YooKwon’s eyes for a bit before she blushed and pulled away from him. She covered with her hand and threw shy, uncertain glances at YooKwon.

“It’s…different…” she mumbled to herself.

MinHyuk watched as the bold and confident HaNeul he had come to know turn into nothing short of a blushing high school girl that just got her first kiss.

…wait a minute…

“…HaNeul…was that…your first kiss?” MinHyuk ask, a bit unsure whether bring this up would be a good idea.

HaNeul merely nodded.

“…wait…you two…never kissed before?” YooKwon asked, finally finding his voice again. Once he got a no from both of them, he turned to HaNeul. “You…have never been…kissed…before?”

HaNeul blinked but just shook her head again.

“……”

“Kwon?”

He slowly got up and walked over to HaNeul, who cocked her head and raised her eyebrow in confusion. Without another word, he took HaNeul’s hand and slapped himself in the face hard with it.

“OMO, YOOKWON!” she yelled in surprise, immediately going over and checking his reddening cheek. “Yah, you retard! What did you do that for?! Oh my goodness, it’s already getting swollen…I’m gonna go get the bag of peas we have.”

“No…I’m fine…I deserved that…in fact, go ahead and smack me again,” YooKwon murmured, looking as if he lost his soul.

“Excuse me?” HaNeul sounded insulted by the request.

“I just…stole your first kiss…and in front of your boyfriend…and…oh my gosh,” YooKwon reflected in horror as he buried his face in his hands. “I my best friend’s mouth…”

“? It was just a kiss. What’s the big deal?” HaNeul asked nonchalantly.

Feeling hurt by her words, YooKwon looked up in disbelief. Did she really feel so little for him that only he was shaken by that kiss? But after one look at her face, he realized it was the complete opposite. No, it wasn’t that she didn’t feel anything for him that she was so nonchalant about the kiss. It was because she genuinely didn’t understand what that kiss meant. YooKwon sighed in relief.

“Don’t worry about it, HaNeulie~!” YooKwon cheerfully exclaimed as he took her hands and shook it playfully around. “You’re right! It’s noooo big deal!”

“O-oh…o…kay…” she answered back, still very confused about this whole thing.

“Ah, but from now on, you can only kiss MinHyuk-hyung, okay?” YooKwon stated with a smile, causing MinHyuk to facepalm and pull at his face, completely frustrated with these two clueless idiots.

“Ehhhh~?!” HaNeul whined with an angry pout. “Why? I don’t like kissing him! I like kissing with you better!”

Both YooKwon and MinHyuk’s mouth dropped at her blatant statement.

“Just kill me now. I can’t handle these two anymore…I’m sorry, I’ve tried…I really have…but my patience is running thin and I am THIIIIS close to killing both of them,” MinHyuk complained to himself as YooKwon covered his flushed face and HaNeul just seemed pissed off at being told what to do. He took a deep breath to calm himself before he grabbed HaNeul by the wrist and dragged her into the bathroom (the other boys were still sleeping).

“Okay, so here’s the plan. We break up now and then you get together with YooKwon and we all live happily ever after. Got it? Good. Let’s go,” MinHyuk stated plain and simple, ready to drag HaNeul back out again.

“Wait, wait, wait. No! Not good. What the are you talking about?!” HaNeul hissed, demanding an explanation. “I thought I told you I refuse to date YooKwon!”

With a low growl, MinHyuk slammed his hands besides HaNeul’s head and surprised her by crashing his lips into hers. The collision caused her head to hit the wall behind her. It hurt but it was nothing compared to the panic she felt with having MinHyuk kissing her like that. She tried to push him off, but he quickly caught both of her wrists and pinned them against the wall so she wasn’t able to move. She grunted in disapproval and tried to get away from his violent kiss. When he finally let up, she was about to yell at him only to be silenced by his glare.

“You still don’t get it? Or are you going to lie to yourself and YooKwon some more? Don’t with me, HaNeul,” he warned her dangerously.

“Min…Hyuk…” she whispered softly.

He sighed, pulling away from her and brushing her loose hair behind her ear. He looked her straight in the eyes seriously.

“You know just as well as I do that there was and still is nothing between us. I only asked you to stay here so that you two idiots could finally come to terms with your relationship. Don’t give me that guilty expression. I’m not hurt. This is exactly what I’ve been trying to get to happen. So what’s stopping you?” he consulted with a much calmer tone.

“I’m…scared…” she whispered, looking away from MinHyuk. “I…he’s the only one…that makes me feel so unsure about myself…”

“That just means he’s helping you figure out things about yourself you don’t even know,” he answered.

“…we…had a deal…” HaNeul whispered. “I can’t just…even if…there’s nothing between us …we had a deal and to just leave you because of YooKwon…I’m…not comfortable about it…”

“Don’t make me repeat myself like a broken record,” he sighed. “Trust me, I had fun and I can’t say it was completely unselfish of me. Hell, you’re one hot girl despite how ridiculously self-sufficient you are. And we all know B-Bomb likes the ladies~”

HaNeul smacked him for the “hot girl” comment, which he responded with a chuckle. He smiled at her warmly and ruffled her hair.

“For mine, yours and YooKwon’s sake…”

HaNeul, it’s time we just break up. My job here is done.

~

While the two of them finally came out of the bathroom, they noticed that the rest of Block B finally got up and started getting ready for their day…except one person was missing…

“Where’s YooKwon?” HaNeul asked, searching left and right for him.

“Ran out the door, said something about being a and needing to cool his head off in the Han River,” JiHo informed with a mouth full of pancakes.

“AND YOU DIDN’T STOP HIM?!” she screamed in irritation.

Without wasting another second, she took off out the door, not even bothering to put on shoes or anything.

“HaNeul! You aren’t a monkey! Wear some shoes before you go chasing after him!” TaeIl yelled after her in vain as she was already bolting down the stairs.

MinHyuk only had to take one look at JiHo before knowing exactly what was going on.

“…he’s not really planning on jumping in, is he?”

“Of course not, who would be stupid enough to do that?” JiHo scoffed, taking another pancake from the stack in the middle.

~

YooKwon took a deep breath and stared out at the sea.

“DON’T DO IT!” was all the warning he got before this ‘mysterious’ voice tackled him to the ground.

“W-Wha-”

“I need you so please don’t jump!” HaNeul screamed in a panic, engulfing his waist in a death grip. YooKwon blinked in confusion.

“I just…came out to get some fresh air…I wasn’t…going to jump…” he mumbled.

“…Woo JiHo, I’m killing you in your sleep tonight,” HaNeul decided while shifting her eyes backwards toward where the dorm is located.

“…what did you say just now?” YooKwon smiled, wrapping his arms around her waist, forcing her to stay right where she was, right in between his legs with her arms around him.

Finally conscious of the position she was in, HaNeul turned away and murmured under her breath, “I didn’t say anything…”

YooKwon continued smiling.

“I’ve been thinking about what to do…about me…about me to you. At first, I thought it would be okay with just knowing you’re okay. But…after seeing you with MinHyuk-hyung…I got…I got really jealous,” YooKwon looked down in shame. “More importantly, I couldn’t stand the way he was treating you. Even if you can take care of yourself, that doesn’t mean helping you every now and then would be bad.”

“YooKwon…”

“No, please, let me finish, HaNeul. I know it’s really wrong for me to try and take my hyung’s girlfriend but I can’t stand being apart from you. It kills me on the inside when…ARGH!”

HaNeul jumped in surprise at YooKwon suddenly outburst and watched in confusion as he seemed to be fighting with himself, curling his fingers, unable to handle the situation.

“It’s so frustrating that you’re with him and he doesn’t care! And I care a lot about you! And it just doesn’t make sense why you’re going out with someone that doesn’t care! And how dare he say I don’t have any right to be upset at him! You’re my best friend and I love you!”

Both of them froze.

“…what did you…just say?”

“AHHHH! I’M SORRY, FORGET EVERYTHING I SAID!” YooKwon cried out immediately regret rambling about his feelings. To show just how much he regretted it, he clenched his hands in a fist and jumped up and down. With a sigh, he turned around and started walking away with his head hanging down with the belief he had ruined their relationship. HaNeul quickly caught his wrist before he could. YooKwon turned in surprise. She looked up at him with an unsure expression.

“MinHyuk…is just a friend,” HaNeul told YooKwon with certainty, looking him straight in the eyes, confident about her answer. But when considering what YooKwon meant to her, HaNeul’s expression softened and she pulled her hand back to her chest.

“You…I’m…not sure what you are to me…” HaNeul whispered while looking away. “I really don’t understand you. You’re childish and playful most of the time and yet you can be so gentle and caring. You’re surprisingly attentive even though you almost always look blurred. And when you smile at me, it takes me by surprise and my heart beats faster. Even from the first time we met, you have always somehow looked out for me. I never asked you for anything and yet you’re always there for me.”

“What…exactly are you to me?”

YooKwon stared at her as she confessed. It was different from how an average girl confesses her feelings. There was something off. He saw the puzzled look in her eyes. Why did she seem so confused?

He thought back to the kiss from before and it all made sense. He finally understood why she was so hesitant.

“HaNeul…” he started softly. She looked up at him, only to be engulfed in his warm arms.

“You…don’t understand what love is…do you?” YooKwon asked sadly, tightening his hold on her when he felt her flinch.

“I…” she began only to pause to think his words over carefully.

“No…I…don’t understand…” she whispered so softly YooKwon almost missed it.

Feeling a lot more confident now that he understood HaNeul’s feelings a little better, he slowly closed in on her and planted a feathery kiss upon her lips. When HaNeul tried to kiss harder like they had before, YooKwon would pull back and then, continued giving her soft and gentle kisses. At his tenderness, HaNeul pulled back. Her face was completely red and her heart was racing so fast, she could hear it drumming in her ears. She tried to run away but YooKwon pulled her back. He could hear the rate of her breathing steadily increase as he looped his arms around her waist and lead her up against him, so she couldn’t escape.

He smiled sweetly at her. YooKwon had always thought HaNeul was more mature than he was. She had always been the one giving him advice and teaching him how to do things. But when it came to love, HaNeul seemed completely lost. YooKwon couldn’t help falling for her. Seeing the cool HaNeul becoming so fluttered from just a few light kisses when they had shared a more heated one before was too adorable to him. He couldn’t help teasing her with a few more, causing her to squirm in his hold. He chuckled, knowing very well HaNeul could easily break out of his ‘trap’ if she really wanted to yet she chose to stay in his arms.

“Do you want to learn?” He smiled as he gently bumped his forehead into hers.

“Because I have a lot to teach you~” he teased, kissing her again on the lips. She pouted up at him as he pulled away. She wrapped her arms around his waist and slowly tiptoed up to YooKwon’s lips. For a few seconds, she hovered over his waiting lips, unsure of herself, before she finally gave him a soft kiss of her own.

“Is that a yes?”

She chuckled at how excited he looked after she had kissed him back. It was strikingly similar to a child opening presents on Christmas.

“I’ll think about it.”

His expression fell immediately as if the present he got for Christmas just got taken away from him. She had to keep herself from laughing so she could continue teasing him.

“I am still going out with MinHyuk after all~ maybe I should ask what he thinks abou-”

YooKwon shut her up with another kiss before speaking.

“He can live without you. I can’t. You’re mine now and you can’t escape~”

HaNeul laughed and smiled up at him.

“If it’s you, I don’t mind~”

His mind blanked.

“…oh gosh, you’re going to be the death of me.”

The two stared at each other for a moment before breaking out into a comfortable laughter as they shared a hug.

Ohh, well it's interesting! It took me a little while to realize who was who in this chapter since the point of view changed but I figured out it was Kwonnie telling her the story in 1st person. It's a bit weird, it all went kinda fast, I mean the explaining of how they met and all that, but I get it, well at least I think so, haha.
