Our Worlds CollideMyungsoo
In some situations, I can practically tell the future. With Sungyeol, he’s just, well, predictable. We’re childhood pals; I know what he is like as a result. He’s the type of guy to hit it and run. He hides from the people he does that to. He is a total playboy. Most people fall for his face- which they call adorable-and the way he sweet talks them. Being shy is the key as well, or pretending for that matter.
Whenever I try his tactics, I fail. He says it’s because when I flirt, I get attached and actually begin to fall. I couldn’t argue because I knew it was true. I’ve given up on trying taking things slow with people. I am straightforward. My place or yours; I live alone, how about it? Never ever trying to charm them with a smile, or winning their hearts. They have to know they’re just a fling beforehand, otherwise I don’t go along.
Sungyeol has a lot of people on his , for that reason. I never cared for those people. Even if they were supposedly nice and had morals, they should have at least the basic knowledge to not sleep with a guy only after hours of meeting. He has told me the people he was aiming for before he went in for the dive, but I never cared.
This time is different; I know this for some reason. The thing I don’t know is why it isn’t the same. It is, after all, only Sungjong. Our relationship is not even an actual relationship. It isn’t even a friendship.
Still, this doesn’t stop me from pulling out my phone from my pocket and dialing his number. It’s been seventeen minutes since they left. He has to be home and Sungyeol has to be heading back by now.
“The person you are calling is-“ I hang up and I am going to call again when I get another call.
“What?” I snap.
“Hey, nice speaking to you, too.” Sunggyu replies.
“Sorry, hyung,” I apologize, “So, what’s up?”
“Well, don’t sound so annoyed,” he chuckles, “Anyway, I’m coming over. Woohyun’s recording for his next album, and wow, I was not supposed to tell you that. Disregard that statement, its confidential info.”
I laugh, deciding that Sungjong will be able to take care of himself.
“So, what, now I’m just your backup plan?” I joke. “But Sungyeol’s gonna be here.”
“Okay,” he pauses, “I’m pulling up. Be there in a bit. Bye.”
We hang up and I feel like calling Sungjong again but I opt not to. What’s there to even worry about? It was just a ride, and besides, I doubt he’s the type to give it up so quickly. There’s a knock at my door, and Sunggyu walks in.
He takes off his shoes and throws himself onto my bed next to me. He turns on the TV and begins flipping through the channels. Dramas, romantic movies, comedies, but he lands on a music show. He sighs, turning off the TV, and turns to me.
“So,” he says, “What’s going on between you and Sungjong?”
“Um, well, he’s still, you know, helping me out and stuff.”
“He spent the night here, didn’t he?” I nod. “Myungsoo, don’t do anything stupid. I think-“
“Hyung,” I cut him off, “We didn’t do that, really. He just fell asleep.”
“No, Myungsoo, listen. I’m being serious.” He looks at me with a look I can’t explain. Worry? Anger? “I think it would be best if you distanced yourself from him. “
“Why?”
It’s curiosity. He is the one who told me to find a person to talk to who didn’t want anything from me, whether it was , money, popularity, or a way to cheat in school. Sungjong is the only one who doesn’t expect anything from me. What is there to be cautious of?
“I’m trying to protect you, that’s all.”
“Protect me?” I scoff. “No offense, hyung, but you’re the one that left and never even bothered to keep in contact with me. For how long, two years was it? And now you want to protect me?”
I pause, shocked. I didn’t mean to say any of those things, they just slipped. But deep down inside, I knew I meant them.
Neither one of us speaks for a while.
“Why?” I whisper.
“Myungsoo, I-“
The door bursts open, and in walks a very happy Sungyeol. He doesn’t notice the awkward atmosphere and just begins to talk.
“Hey, Gyu hyung,” he greets cheerfully, “Long time no see, huh?”
“Yeah,” Sunggyu gets up. “But I gotta go.”
He turns back to me at the door. “Myung, I’m sorry. Really. But please listen to what I told you. I know I messed up, and I’m trying to make up for it. This is, honestly, all I can do for you. I can advise you and only hope that you listen to me. But, why would you? Like you said, I was gone.”
“Hyung…”
"See you later, Myungsoo."
A/N: Well, wasn't this a crappy chapter? Now looking back, it's so much timier than the others. Sorry~ I'll update ASAP. It was basically a filler. I had no idea what to write about TT.TT
