The demo of the song they received that day was addictive. Taekwoon couldn’t get it out of his mind, and even as he was waiting for his coffee to brew he was humming it.

It was simply beautiful and he felt it his own.

Weird how lyrics could describe his inner feelings so perfectly, the serene sound of a platonic love.

He smiled at that and leaned against the counter, humming softly as he listened to the noises of the evening city.

When they were told to think of someone dear to get the feeling properly for the next recording he thought how easy… he just needed to think of one person and all of it came naturally…

The smell of coffee filled the air and a thought climbed into his mind.

Coffee is like his love too.

It’s addictive like the feeling of being in love, like the feeling of being in the heart of someone.

It’s strong like how his feelings came to be with time.

It’s exotic like the scent that lingers even when he is alone.

It’s black like the place he hid his love from the world.

It’s white like the images of his love in his dreams.

It’s sweet like every moment spent in his lover’s presence.

And he smiled again, sipping at his coffee.

‘Hyung what are you doing in the dark?’ the all too familiar voice asked and he answered by lifting his cup for him to see, still humming the song.

‘Hmm, you really like this song, don’t you?’ Jaehwan asked softly, leaning against the counter besides Taekwoon.

And here he was again... with him, yet he wasn’t… it made him feel stupidly happy with sorrow and Taekwoon began to sing softly. The longing came naturally and his voice flow effortlessly in the dark kitchen.

Jaehwan began to sing as well, their voices melting together in the softest harmony.

Jaehwan rested his hand against his, brushing barely and carefully. Taekwoon didn’t move just continued to sing, looking down at his cup with glistening eyes.

Their song ended and silence engulfed the dark kitchen.

Jaehwan sighed softly, leaning his head on Taekwoon’s shoulder.

‘So sad… this song is so sad.’

Taekwoon just hummed in answer, relishing in the feeling of being this close to Jaehwan.

‘Are you sad?’ Jaehwan asked softy.

‘Sometimes.’ Taekwoon answered honestly.

Jaehwan nodded and reached out to squeeze his hand and Taekwoon was satisfied. Satisfied with his Coffee Prince being by his side in the confiding darkness of the kitchen. Thinking secretly about him, wishing secretly for him…

But someday…

Someday he will pour his heart out to him.
