Follow the river and you'll find the sea.She stood there, staring out the window. If she moved her face a little bit, you could see the tears rolling down her cheeks. She must have noticed I was awake because she wiped the tears away and asked with an unsteady voice: "Did you sleep well?" Pretending nothing had happened. I stood up and ran my fingers through her hair. She slapped my hand away and walked out of the bedroom. I shouldn't have done that.
"D-do you like it?" I asked her. She nodded as she picked up a a small piece of meat with her chopsticks. "Let's go to the beach" She whispered. Firstly, I was surprised she said something. Secondly, I was surprised she wanted to go out and lastly, I was happy because of it. After our breakfast we left.
The car stopped and before I could even open her door, she started running. I mean, really running. She looked like she had become crazy: the sea was wild and there was a great wind. Still, I was stunned by her. The wind blew up her dress and through her hair. Wasn't this a movie set? Her feet almost touched the water as she screamed: "Why are you taking so long?! Come over here!" she laughed and then hid her face behind her arms. She seemed to forget everything.
I ran to her and grabbed her hands. "Don't hide that pretty face" I said laughing. I noticed her soft pink cheeks and I enjoyed it more than ever before. It was a sign of health. Suddenly I felt my arm being pulled. A few seconds later we were running like crazy. She didn't stop laughing and how could I resist that? I laughed with her, like we used to.
After running for a while, I felt her grip on my hand weakening, so I slowed down. I didn't want her to faint. She looked disappointed and upset. "I'm tired" I said, trying to cover it up. I didn't want it to look like she was the reason for my stopping. She was panting quickly and if the world was silent, you would be able to hear her wheezing lungs. "Get on my back" I said. Her eyes widened for a second but then she jumped on my back. Her head was leaning on my shoulder and her breathing was slowing down. "Close your eyes and enjoy the air" I whispered as I carried her back to the car.
Could this possibly be the last time we did this together? Could this possibly be the last time I was carrying here? Why am I even thinking about such things. She will fall asleep and wake up within a few hours, like always. Nothing has changed after today. At least not after today indeed.
