Here's To More Sandwiches
Living With My Teacher's SonFast-forward 5 years later…
“Good morning baby,” Yano gave me a back hug and kissed me. He had showered and he smelled like fresh peppermint.
“Good morning baby,” I replied and kissed his nose.
“What’s for breakfast?” He asked and I gave him a smile, “Something special.”
“No sandwiches?”
“No sandwiches.”
“Western?”
“Western.” I nodded and put a plate of scrambled eggs, sausages and bacon in front of him.
“This makes me feel so happy.” He said as he smelled the air; smell of a warm breakfast.
“Because I made it,” I laughed.
“And it’s our anniversary!” He exclaimed and kissed my nose.
“So 8pm later?” I asked.
“Yep, at Harris’” He said and started eating.
“Alright, got it.”
“This is really good.” He complimented.
“Of course, it’s made by me.” I poured him some milk.
“Ee, you’re so full of yourself.”
“Shut up and eat.” I said and cleaned up the kitchen.
“But this is really good, gosh.”
After graduation, I continue to work at XO Café and Yano worked in his parents’ company. Sometimes I’ll help Eomma with her school stuff (like marking papers and helping her set tests for her students). Every morning is always lovely, me making sandwich for him (it was always sandwich), and pecks on the cheeks. He would always wear what businessmen wears. Blazer, always. Shoes, yes. Khakis, sometimes. Jeans, most of the time. Black tie, yes. Dark blue tie, sometimes.
“Alright, I’m done, baby.” He said and picked up his briefcase. “Bye,” he pecked my lips and left.
“Hey wait, you didn’t tie that properly,” I said and went to him to fix his tie. “Alright, all good.”
“Love you babe,” He pecked my lips again.
“Love you too, baby!” I exclaimed, “Don’t forget later!”
“I won’t!” he waved.
