Into the lion's den

Whats the worst thing you've ever done?

"So you're saying you were homesick?" Chaerin's father questioned, his voice dripping with disbelief, "Chaerin, I wasn't born yesterday".

"Seriously Dad! I was getting really sick of the food and always speaking english". She pointed to her food, "they don't have kimchi in London".

"You sure it wasn't anything else?" Her father had yet to break eye contact.

"What do you mean?"

Sighing her father took out his phone and began searching for something, placing the phone in front of Chaerin when he found it. "This." His face was stone cold.

Chaerin looked down at the photo, just managing to hold back her surprise. On the small screen was her a Mike, hugging outside her apartment, the next photo showed them entering the complex together. She looked back at her father, "you were spying on me?"

His expression didn't change, "I was watching out for you"He pointed to Mike, "I'm not even going to ask who he is, but you are never going to see or talk to him again. Do you understand?"

Chaerin remained silent.

"Chaerin, I have more photos, all which show a lot more than just cuddling. I recommend you listen".

"Are you threatening me?"

"Yes"

Chaerin hung her head in defeat, "fine" she muttered. "Its not like you have to worry about that anymore....."

"What was that?"

"Nothing, I said I wont okay!"

"Good. Now I need you to listen very carefully", he father leaned over the table, "I'm not going to tell your mother about this, but..." he paused. "You have to do something for me".

Chaerin took a deep breath, "What is it?"

"You're going to work for me"

"But I have classes"

"When you're not at school, you'll be working here. It'll be perfect, you'll learn the business and get to put what you learn in London into practice. And.." He smiled, "I'll be able to keep an eye on you"

Though Chaerin enjoyed a good fight, she knew when she was defeated and her father was a meticulous man. "Fine" she agreed.

Her father smiled and stood up, "good. I have a meeting now. Send me your timetable when you get so I can work out your hours". He turned to leave.

"Dad!" Chaerin stood up as he turned to leave, "where's mum?"

Her father paused for a moment, before replying, "she should be home by now".

Chaerin was confused, "but... then why did she..."

"Was that all?" Her father interrupted, "I need to go".

"Yeah, sure dad", she muttered as he closed the door. Sighing she picked up her handbag and phone. I should've know he'd know. After checking that the coast was clear she snuck out avoiding all the trainees who by now would know who she was. The last thing she need right now was everyone treating her like the boss's little princess.

Considering she had nothing better to do, Chaerin decided to for go the lift and walk home. She sent the driver off with her bags, much to his objections and headed out.

It was a warm spring day, with a light wind that played with Chaerin's long dark hair. The sun tickled her bare shoulders and danced across her pale face. There hadn't been much sun in London, so her complexion was rather sickly compared to those around her. Chaerin couldn't help but smile as the busy Seoul life bustled around her, it was like she was invisible, no body knew who her father was here. She was just another girl, not the heir to YG. This is what Chaerin loved, the anonymity. It was as if she could be anything or anyone she desired.

"Lee Chaerin!? Is that you?"

Chaerin turned to see a tall blonde guy with enormous lips bounding towards her. She smiled, she knew those lips anywhere."Hey Dongwoo", she waved, "whats up?"

"It is you!" Dongwoo cried as he came closer, eventually pulling her into a tight hug. "I've missed you Chaerinne!"

"Woah, calm down", Chaerin was terribly conscious of all the attention they were attracting from the people passing by. She struggled out of grip.

"When did you get back? You should've called me!!!" Dongwoo whinned.

"Just today actually. I think I've been in this country for about three hours".

"Well.. I guess that makes me feel better", he grinned. "Where are you going now?"

"Home actually, just visited the new offices"

"You're walking?"

"Yeah, I felt like it. Plus, I've got nothing planned for the rest of the day", Chaerin sighed.

"You know, you should come to the salon", Dongwoo suggested, "Its pretty quiet today and I'm bored".

"Salon?"

"Yeah, I actually work there", he pointed to himself, "Its great! I get to cut peoples hair and style them".

Chaerin smiled, "thats great Dongwoo".

"Yup! I've even cut famous people's hair. Let me see..." he began to list, "Woo Bin and a few other actors. Oh! And of course Gdragon!" He puffed out his chest, "I made his new hair for his comeback!"

Chaerin laughed, "Dongwoo, I'm proud of you. You're getting closer to your dream".

Dongwoo had always been interested in fashion and style, he spent the majority of his highschool days trying to replicate and experiment with some of the more "risque" looks which had often lead people to question his uality and on more than one occasion, accuse him of being gay or a drag queen. Chaerin and him had kind of stuck together (when she wasn't studying) and an allience had formed.

"Chaerin I must say," Dongwoo interrupted her thoughts, "you're looking good". His eyes scanned over her body. "I thought that London was going to make you fat".

"Gee, thanks", Chaerin punched his left arm, "wow, have you been working out?"

"Hahahaha", Dongwoo giggled, "just a little bit. After all what kind of top stylist would have flabby arms?" He glanced at his watch, "shish! Lunch time is nearly over. Chaerinne! Come back to the salon with me... please?" He begged, "I'll do your hair for you... It'll be pretty.... I promise!" He appealed to her with his puppy dog eyes.

"Fine!" Chaerin groaned, "just don't make me look like a freak!"

The salon was more like a day spa, with three levels of impeccably picked decor and state of the art "beauty-machines". Dongwoo grabbed her hand, leading her to the second level which was decked out with at least a dozen hairdressing chairs, all with in built massage. The walls were white with black details and the polished floor gave off a level of class and sophistication. Everybody greeted Dongwoo as he entered, bowing politely.

"Suzy", he turned to one of the pretty girls, "can you please clear my schedule for the next four hours?" He turned back towards Chaerin, a grin plastered on his face, "I've got a V.I.P customer".

Suzy smiled, "of course sir. I'll take care of it".

"Sir?" Chaerin repeated in confusion.

"Yeah, I'm kind of the head stylist here", he laughed awkwardly.

Chaerin smiled, "well then Mr. Top Stylist, I'll leave it up to you".

Four and a half hours later Chaerin left the salon, her dark long crop now glowing a vibrant blonde. It was swept to one side, just the way Chaerin liked it, and in her left hand was a ticket for a night club event Dongwoo had given her. He had insisted she'd come. "You don't want to miss out on this one".

After exiting the salon, Chaerin hailed down the nearest taxi and guided him back to her parents place. Looking up at the 3 story building, Chaerin made herself the promise to get out of there a.s.a.p. She paid the driver, then tried her luck with the door, thankfully it was unlocked. Pushing hard she entered the house.

"Mum?!" She called out hesitantly. The house was dark and abnormally quiet. Back during her school years Chaerin had opted to used the school library as her own house was anything but quiet. Her mother was a social butterfly and as a result there would be some form of function on every night. And her mother was far from the quiet type of entertainer as the course of the night often required several bottles of wine.

After no response for a second time, Chaerin was worried.  Where was her mother? She began to peer through the house. The house didn't at all feel like the one she had grown up in. The previously bright and abstract decor had been toned down to neutral colours and clean lines. It was as if her mother didn't live here anymore. Chaerin took a deep breath, if her parents had split up with out her knowing.... or at least telling her she was going to....

"Chaerin! Darling!" Her mother walked out of one of the darkened rooms, wearing a long white robe. "I'm so glad to see you" she cooed.

"Why were you sleeping?" Chaerin queried. Her mother was not the type to take midday naps. She had always been someone with boundless energy, uncontrollable almost.

"Oh, I was just at the salon, and you know how I get when I get a tan..."

Chaerin looked at her mother, her face was shrunken and pale and her hair was an absolute mess. She didn't look like someone who had been to the salon. In fact she didn't look like she'd left the house in ages. "Mum, are you okay?"

"I'm fine sweetie", her mum smiled, "now how about you sit down and tell me all about London".

* * * * *

That night Chaerin sat down to her first family meal in a very long time. Her mother had all out making dish after dish of Chaerin's "favourite foods".

"Its not everyday my little girl comes home from London. And I must say, you're looking amazing darling". Her mum pointed to her hair, "I'm loving the blonde".

"When did you get it done?" her father interjected.

"On my way home from the office. I ran into an old friend who runs a salon and got it done for free".

"Friend?"

"Yeah, Dongwoo"

"The gay guy?"

"He's not gay. Anyway he's super big in the hair world. Apparently he even did GDragon's hair for his upcoming album."

"Ah!" her father smiled. "He's a good kid"

"Anyway, he's got some party on tonight and he invited me as his plus one".

"A party?" he mother squealed with delight. "What are you going to wear?"

"Something simple, its not fancy. Its more of a get together", Chaerin instantly regretted telling her mother.

"Just make sure you don't get into any trouble", her father checked his mobile. "Darling, I've got to go. He's just touched down". He gave his wife a peck on the cheek. "Chaerin, remember 10 am at the office", he turned to face her, "and don't be late".

Chaerin nodded silently as her father turned and left. Its not like I've got a choice.

Dongwoo had said that he'd pick her up at 10 pm, which meant Chaerin had at least 2 hours to kill.

"So", her mother's voice broke the trance, "tell me everything about London! Oh and photos! I hope you took lots of photos!" She grinned at Chaerin, "and boys. While your father is out tell me about the boys!"

Oh Boy.

By the time Dongwoo turned up Chaerin was glad just to get out of the house. She'd forgotten how truly intense her mother was and having to cover her tracks about London had proved to be exhausting.

"Crap", Chaerin glanced at the clock, "Dongwoo's going to be here in 15 minutes". She apologized to her mother, promising another chat and dragged her suitcase into her old bedroom. She looked around at it and shrugged, it seemed the decoration overhaul had even extended to her bedroom. Chaerin found it unrecognizable. Flipping open her suitcase on the bed she rummaged through it, her other parcels had yet to arrive (they had apparently been off-loaded in Hong Kong) so she'd have to make do with what she had here. Chaerin couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief as she held up her favourite leather high-waisted pants. A night time staple for any occasion. She also grabbed a mesh crop tank and a plain black bra, opting for a pair of wedge boots for her feet. Throwing on a little bit of eyeliner and plenty of mascara, Chaerin completed the look with her trusty red lipstick and grabbed a chunky jumper to tone down the outfit for her mother.

She had literally just finished when she heard the doorbell ring.

"Chaerin!" her mother called, "a young gentleman is here to see you".

Grabbing a black bag she ran down the stairs, "thanks Mum". She kissed her good night, telling her not to wait up and that she'd be safe before following Dongwoo out.

"Have fun darling!" Her mother yelled after her.

Chaerin acknowledged her with a wave as she got into Dongwoo's sleek black convertible.

"You know we're going some place... well...." Dongwoo looked at Chaerin's jumper, which was littered with cat images, "....cool".

Chaerin couldn't help but laugh, "I know, I know",  she pulled off her jumper causing Dongwoo to inhale sharply. "I had to get past my mother". She glanced around the clean car, "I was hoping I could steal a jacket off you".

"Steal? You'll return it right?"

"Well, that depends...."

"Depends on what?"

"How tonight goes".

As Dongwoo drove, Chaerin took the time to read the invite. "So what exactly is this for?"

"A client of mine is having a party for some movie he's in" Dongwoo replied.

"Wow, its like you're a stylist to the stars!"

Dongwoo grinned, "something like that".

Chaerin continued to read, "Paradise? What's that? Some kind of club?"

"Wow you really have been away for ages!" Dongwoo exclaimed. "Paradise is pretty much the best and most exclusive club in Seoul. Only top celebrities, chaebols and.." he gestured to himself, "good looking people are allowed".

"Then what am I?" Chaerin questioned.

"You're this good looking person's plus one!" Dongwoo smiled, "though the moment they find out who you are, you'll be getting your own invites".

"Hmmm.... Would it be as a celebrity, chaebol or good looking person?" Chaerin teased.

"All three I'd imagine", his eyes uncharacteristically dark.

"But I'm not a celebrity".

"I'd image you'd be one soon enough".

Dongwoo pulled up to a halt in front of some old looking bbq place. "We're here!"

Chaerin couldn't hide her surprise. "Really? Korean bbq?"

Dongwoo let out a spastic laugh, "Oh Chaerin, theres a reason why exclusive events are exclusive". He opened the car door, "wait here, I'll grab you a jacket".

Chaerin quickly checked her phone, pausing as she opened her instagram. On the home page there was a photo of a tall, tattooed blonde man smiling, surrounded by a group of people. The caption read: LOVING NYC! Chaerin could feel tears forming at the corner of her eyes. Jerk! New York was meant to be our trip! Suddenly the door opened and Dongwoo threw a black suit jacket at her. "I hope this is okay".

Chaerin wriggled into it. It was a bit big, but still comfy. "Perfect" she purred before accepting Dongwoo's hand to help her out of the car. "Lets eat some bbq!"

Dongwoo chuckled, "It'll be the best bbq you've ever had" before he slung his arm over her shoulder.

Entering the restaurant they made straight for the elevator where once inside Dongwoo opened the maintance panel, exposing another button.

"Wow this is all very spy-ish" Chaerin commented.

"You haven't seen anything yet".

The bell rang as they reached the basement with the doors sliding open to reveal a sleek black corridor. Chaerin could hear the dull thump of a club bass reverberating through the walls. She smiled, this was going to be a real party. As they neared the end of the hallway a sliding panel opened, granting them access into the club. Chaerin could barely hold in her awe. The club was a three story underground haven, very different to the warehouses and house parties she had become accustom to in London. The bottom level of the club was host to a large dance floor equipped with a raised stage and DJ table. Two long bars ran along the walls with neon lit bench tops and more bottles than Chaerin could count. The second level was a balcony level that housed seating areas, it was complete with dark corners and leather couches. And finally the third level, Dongwoo had told her, was the private booths. Only reserved for those whom were the cream of the crop; the super famous or the super rich.

"Word has it they sit up there and hand pick the women they want, then some guys goes down and gets them. Enticing them with the idea of meeting someone rich and famous they bring them back up and well....." Dongwoo paused, "you can imagine what happens".

Chaerin smiled as she followed Dongwoo to the first floor. Sure I can.

Chaerin had to admit, Dongwoo had really made something of himself. Though he wasn't one of the high flyers on level three, he was pretty much like a celebrity of style. Girls flirted with him and boys asked him for style tips. Wow Jang Dongwoo, you've become a y and chic guy.

"Chaerin! Lets get a drink!" Dongwoo grabbed her hand and dragged her over to the bar. Chaerin couldn't help but notice all the girls glaring at her as if she had something they wanted. She smiled, if only they knew.

"What do you want to drink?" Dongwoo had managed to make some room at the bar.

"Anything, I'm not too picky"

Dongwoo whispered something into the bartenders ear and minutes later she was presented with a glass of liquid that looked like someone had imprisoned a rainbow in it. Chaerin grimaced, it better not be sweet. She hated sweet. "What is this?"

"Its a house special" Dongwoo grinned.

"Are you trying to get me drunk?"

"Something like that..."

"You better not take advantage of me when I'm passed out".

Dongwoo just smiled.

Chaerin looked back at the glass, Oh well, and with one swift movement she downed the whole glass.

Dongwoo looked at her, a dumbfounded expression on his face, "When did you learn to drink like that?"

Now it was Chaerin's turn to grin, "there's a lot you don't know about me. For starters", she pointed to the now empty glass, "its going to take a lot more than that to get me drunk. Now, lets dance!"

Meanwhile, a lone figure stood looked down through the tinted glass of the third level. He inhaled sharply as this blonde girl removed her jacket, exposing a little, thin mesh top which did little to hide her body. He watched as she swayed sensually to the music, her hips, he found them mesmerising. Smiling, he thought to himself, its been a while since he had been interested in a club . "Yang!" he signaled to a tall young man, "bring me the blonde with the nasty hips"

"Sorry, which one sir?"

He pointed to Chaerin, "that one".
