All in moderation

Whats the worst thing you've ever done?

Chaerin stared at the topless Ji Yong lying in front of her. He was still fast asleep, seemingly oblivious to the whole situation. He looked peaceful, angelic-like, as if the whole annoying Ji Yong thing was just an act. Chaerin had to admit, he was beautiful, he always had been. But she sighed, that's partly why I didn't like you. She continued to stare, eventually choosing to study the tattoos on his body. Her fingers trace the lettering, Vita Dolce, Moderato. Enjoy life in moderation. It was interesting, coming from the guy who used to party every night and sweet talk all the girls.

Just then a hand grabbed her arm, pulling her in to him. She struggled against his surprisingly strong hold as he pulled her into a tight back hug, with his body fitting into all the curves of hers like the pieces of a puzzle.

"Kwon Ji Yong! What exactly do you think you're doing?" she pulled against his grip to no response, he just held her tight. Chaerin couldn't help but feel safe, she was in a strange man's arms, but it was almost comfortable. She took a deep breath; with the way things were it looked like she wouldn't be going anywhere soon. Closing her eyes she fell back asleep.

* * * * *

The sound of boiling water woke her up hours later. She was still in the bed, but this time she was alone, Ji Yong was no where in sight. What was happening? Throwing on a near by shirt over her underwear she quietly tip-toed out of the foreign bedroom and into the rest of what she presumed to be Ji Yong's apartment.

She was greeted by a very strange scene; infront of her stood Ji Yong, his attention completely focused on a pot in the kitchen, he carefully stirred it making sure nothing was burning or spilling. Chaerin could smell the aroma, it was bean sprout soup, otherwise known as a cure for hangovers in Korea. Not wanting to be caught staring, she awkwardly walked forward, interrupting him; "Ah, Ji Yong".

He smiled at her, "morning Dokk Chae".

"What are you doing?"

"Making breakfast. Are you feeling better?"

"Yes", she paused, hesitating to ask her next question. "Ji Yong..... what exactly happened last night?"

Ji Yong smiled, shaking his head. It made Chaerin uneasy. Did she perhaps....?

"You wanted to stop off at a soju tent on the way of taking me home, and well... you got pretty drunk. So I took you to mine to sleep it off".

"We only slept?" She motioned to her lack of clothing. "You didn't take advantage of me?"

"Hey!" Ji Yong raised his hand, "I did nothing, even with your strip show".

Chaerin's jaw dropped open, "strip show?"

"Yeah, but I know it wasn't for me", he responded bitterly.

"Huh?"

"You kept calling me Mike....."

..... Chaerin was quiet.

"Listen, I don't care.." Ji Yong began.

"What do I have to do?" Chaerin interrupted

"For what?" He was confused

"To pretend last night didn't happen." Chaerin's face was stone cold.

"Chae, I told you nothing happened" Ji Yong repeated.

"What do you want?" Chaerin insisted.

Sighing Ji Yong turned his attention back to the soup, "sit down over there" he ordered, pointing to the small kitchen table.

Chaerin silently obeyed. Sitting down she took a deep breath. Why did he have to come up when everything was finally starting to look up?

"Close your eyes."

"Huh? Why?" Chaerin questioned.

"Just do it, you'd said you'd do anything".

"Fine", she closed her eyes, better to let him do what he wants quickly.

After about five minutes, he spoke again. "You can open them now".

Chaerin was taken back when she opened her eyes. On the table in front of her was a large bowl of bean sprout soup accompanied by a healthy serving of rice and a selection of delicious looking side dishes. She looked up and Ji Yong who now sat on the other side of the table with his own serve. "What is this?"

He smiled, "eat up. You must be hungry, this soup is the best for curing hangovers. Trust me".

"Its okay, I'm not hungry", Chaerin just wanted to get out of here.

"Dokk Chae, I order you to eat. Eat all of this and I forget about last night", he paused, "but you need to eat everything, even if it tastes bad"

Still confused Chaerin picked up her spoon and tasted the soup. Is he trying to drug me or something. However to her surprise the soup tasted amazing. She had to admit Ji Yong was a very good cook.

"Is it okay?" He asked, concerned.

"Stomachable" she responded. Taking another mouthful she looked at him. "So what exactly happened last night?"

"What don't you remember?"

Chaerin racked her slightly fuzzy memory. She'd made it to the club, very pissed off with Ji Yong and in Seunghyun's embrace. He father, along with alot of the YG workers had left after the dinner, she was instead surrounded by Ji Yong's friends and other celebrities.

"Why wont you come with me?" Seunghyun cooed in her ear. "Lee Chaerin I want you so bad". Ever since he discovered her identity he had made a point to call her by her full name. He now stood next to her at the bar, an arm on either side of her body, blocking her exit. "Chaerin baby" he moaned softly when she didn't respond to him.

"I need a drink", Chaerin hailed the bartender. He was persistent and she liked that. Frustrated was by far her favourite.

"Baby, seriously. We can just order bottle service at the table." Seunghyun was clearly uncomfortable standing at a bar.

"I don't want a bottle and I like ordering from the bar". Chaerin winked at him. "Plus, theres too many people we know at the table." She looked over to where Ji Yong sat, his eyes glued on her and Seunghyun.

Seunghyun grinned, "I think Ji's got the hots for you Lee Chaerin".

"And?" Chaerin glanced over at Ji Yong again.

Seunghyun his lips, "Well, I really want to make him jealous".

"And how would you....." Chaerin was interrupted by the bartender.

"What can I get you guys?"

Chaerin ordered the usual double Jack and Coke and Seunghyun got a gin and tonic as well as two tequila shots. Grabbing the drinks he lead her back to the table.

"You asked me how I was going to make him jealous" Seunghyun whispered in her ear, "follow my lead". He offered her a tequlia shot, "Say Chaerin, should we do a shot?" he asked loudly, so Ji Yong could hear.

Chaerin smiled, "Sure". She sat down at the couches opposite Ji Yong. Alot of the others had gone on to dance so it was just them in the booth. "Though I don't normally drink tequila". She screwed up her nose cutely, "It smells bad".

Seunghyun laughed, "you are innocent", he threw a naughty grin at Ji Yong. "Can you believe this girl?"

Ji Yong suddenly became really interested in his phone. "Whatever" he mumbled.

Seunghyun turned to Chaerin and raised his eyebrows. "Shall we?"

They both took turns pouring salt on on each others hands. "On the count of three", Chaerin began to count down. "Three, two..."

On the two Seunghyun quickly the salt and poured the drink into his mouth. He pulled Chaerin's face close to him and kissed her. The drink flowed between the two of them for Chaerin to swallow. She could feel the tears welling in her eyes from the burning liquid as she forced it down, but Seunghyun didn't stop there, he continued to kiss her passionately in front of a very disturbed Ji Yong. When they finally broke apart Chaerin took a deep breath. That was one amazing kiss.

"Seriously?" Ji Yong was staring straight at them. "I know both of you are pretty liberal with things like this, but this is overstepping the line". He sighed, "though I don't condone this", he pointed to them, "at least have the decency and tack to stay behind closed doors". Ji Yong was mad, but he knew better then to start a fight. Scandals had followed him like the plague and all he needed was a club fight.

"Chaerin", Seunghyun looked at her, "either you're very excited or your phone is ringing".

Chaerin pulled her phone out of her pocket, "I need to take this". She picked it up, telling the person on the other end to hold on a moment, she needed to get out of the noisy club. Running up the stairs she quickly found the exit and made her way outside. "Hello? You still there?"

"Babe?"

She froze as the familiar voice spoke to her. The last time she had heard his voice he had been yelling at her. Calling her a .

"Mike....." she began.

"Sorry for calling, you seem to be busy".

"No no, its just work"

"At a club?"

"Album launch actually. I'm working for my dad now".

"That's good. You seem to be doing well. I was just thinking about you..."

Chaerin could feel her heart flutter, he had that effect on her. First love always hurt the most. "Yeah. I am. Its probably a good thing I came back to Korea".

"I guess I just feel bad about the way it ended. You know, between us.  I've been thinking..."

"Yes?" Chaerin was eager.

"We should end this properly. You know call it quits. I know you have already, but I've still been in the mindset of us getting back together... But now we both seem to be doing well, lets call it".

"Okay" Chaerin couldn't help but feel sick, "so we're....."

"Officially breaking up. But I hope we can still be friends, you know talk like we used to and all that if we ever saw each other again", he continued.

"Umm yeah I guess...." she was cut off but a girl yelling on the other end.

"Mike! You coming?" The girl giggled.

"You seem busy Mike, I'll leave you too it", and with that Chaerin hung up the phone.

Using the wall to steady herself, Chaerin felt physically ill. Her head was spinning and she could feel a lump forming in her stomach. This was it. They were over. She'd finally realised now, sure they had fought and parted, but they'd never called it quits. There was still this chance that he would magically appear in front of her, with a bunch of roses. But now, now it was done for sure. They were no longer together. She sunk down to the ground, hugging her knees and using the wall as a back support. And there she stayed, her gut hurting like crazy.

"Chae?"

Chaerin looked to find Ji Yong standing over her. "Hey", she smiled weakly.

"What are you doing out here?" He knelt down so he was at eye level with her. "What happened?"

He's gone.... Chaerin thought. "Nothing" she lied. "I just needed some fresh air".

Ji Yong could sense there was something wrong. "Actually, I really feel like going home". He grinned, "I'm sick of all these people".

"But its still early? Don't you want to celebrate more?" Chaerin was uneasy at his suggestion.

"I honestly just want to stay at home tonight", he pleaded.

"Fine, say goodbye to everyone and we'll go", she pulled out her phone to call the driver as Ji Yong headed back in doors.

* * * * *

Chaerin stared mindlessly out of the window as they drove to Ji Yong's apartment. She couldn't shake this sickness; feeling weak, head spins but most of all, this emptiness that was consuming her. She needed to forget, she needed a way to forget. Focusing on the outside world she spotted a small snack and soju tent. Perfect.

"Excuse me." She called out to the driver, "can you drop me off here please".

"Why?" Ji Yong looked at her.

"Because I want a snack", she pointed to the tent playfully.

Ji Yong stared at her for a long time before whispering something to the driver. Pulling on his coat with a beanie and a pair of fake glasses he opened the van's door. "Come on let's go".

"What? Why are you coming?" The last thing she wanted was Ji Yong to come with her.

"I'm hungry and I could do with a drink".

"Fine" she conceded, "but you can sit at a different table. I don't want any attention".

"Whatever you want Chae" and with that Ji Yong stepped outside.

Following him into the tent, Chaerin noticed there was no spare tables, so she was forced to sit with a now very covered up Ji Yong. She sighed, ordering a kimchi pancake and two bottles of soju. The waitress gave them two sets of chopsticks and shot glasses. Chaerin promptly opened the first bottle and poured herself a glass.

"Cheers", she raised her glass, "you're number one Ji Yong". She took the glass in one shot and poured herself another.

"Woah, you want to slow down", Ji Yong placed his hand over the glass.

"Why? Its a celebration", Chaerin looked him straight in the eyes. "You're the best". She pushed Ji Yong's hand away and took the shot.

* * * * *

With her memory slowly returning, she sheepishly looked up at Ji Yong.

"You know I've never seen a girl drink so many bottles of soju and not vomit" Ji Yong was grinning, he could tell she had began to recall some parts of the night. "Five bottles!" He held up his hand, the fingers emphasizing the five. "Your stomach must be made of steel". He giggled at is own joke.

"So, just to clarify", Chaerin was sick of being in the dark, "nothing happened?"

"Nothing" Ji Yong swore.

"Ok", Chaerin let out a deep sigh. "Can I use your shower?"

"Third door on the left".

"Thanks".

He watched her walk away. She doesn't remember....

"Come on Chae, at least try and stand up", Ji Yong had to literally pull her into the elevator.

"Why?" She mumbled in english, the alcohol had taken its effect.

"Cause you'll fall".

"And you care why?"

"Cause..... I like you". He paused, "you know that".

"Then why did you leave me like that?"

"What do you.....?"

"Stop playing coy, you're an , but I still love you", Chaerin collapsed against the wall.

"You what?" Ji Yong couldn't believe what he was hearing.

"I love you.......Mike".

Ji Yong stared into the soup in front of him, he'd suddenly lost his appetite. Who was this Mike? Was it him that made Dokk Chae like this. His mind floated back to the first night he had seen her at the house party in London. She had been so forceful, in control of herself, but also at the same time terribly lost. Maybe thats what stopped him from telling her who he really was and then that night. The sight of her back as she snuck out as if they'd done something wrong. It all hurt, he was a romantic at heart and to see his first and only love like this tore him appart.

"! ! !" Chaerin screamed from the bathroom.

Ji Yong jumped at the sound of her voice, he sprinted to the bathroom where he pulled open the door to find Chaerin with just a towel wrapped around her. "Oh ", he covered his eyes out of courtesy. "Sorry".

"Seriously? Its not like you haven't seen it before"

"I though you were in trouble", he still had his hands over his eyes.

"I am, I am in deep trouble", Chaerin's voice was serious.

"Why?" Ji Yong finally removed his hands and looked at her.

She held up her phone, "my father wants to know where I am".
