To the surface

Whats the worst thing you've ever done?

"Wait, so he knows you're here?" Ji Yong looked blankly at Chaerin.

"Of course not", She sighed. I'd be dead if that was the case. She pushed past him, only in her towel, "yah, do you have any sweats?"

"Yeah...." He couldn't help but look at her. She looked beautiful, natural, with her hair down and slightly damp. Her now makeup-less face reminded him of the days of their childhood.

"You can stop staring now, I thought it was nothing you haven't seen?" Chaerin was snappy. She needed to formulate some kind of plan about her disappearance, and preferably one that didn't involve Kwon Ji Yong.

"What clothes do you want?" Ji Yong looked at her, "I might have something small enough for you". He turned around and walked off, "follow me".

Chaerin had known that Ji Yong was some kind of fashionista, but that didn't stop her from the surprise she felt when she entered Ji Yong's closet. Closet was a very loose term to describe the room that laid before her.  There was easily 100,000 pieces of clothing in here and all of it no doubt was designer. "Ji Yong-ah. I think you have a problem".

Ji Yong laughed, "you're not the first person to tell me that". He couldn't help but smile at the way she said his name. "Now, is there anything particular you'd like?"

"Something my Father has never seen you in", Chaerin looked through a rack of jumpers, "and something that doesn't smell too much like you". She let out a sigh as Ji Yong moved closer to her.

"Ok", he reached his arm over her shoulder, his chest pressing against her back. Chaerin couldn't help but inhale sharply, she could feel his heart beat, it was steady, controlled. The sound alone relaxed her. Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to... Her lips trembled, we could? She turned her head. "Ji Yong....?"

"Hmmm...?" He turned his head so they were looking into each others eyes, lips centimeters from each other.

Chaerin closed her eyes. What the am I thinking?

"This one should look ok on you".

She opened her eyes to find Ji Yong holding a plain navy jacket. "Huh?"

"Clothes, this one. I brought it a while ago, but never wore it so it should be perfect", he grinned at her. "Now all we need is a tshirt and some pants".

20 minutes later, Chaerin was sitting in Ji Yong's car, dressed in Ji Yong's clothes and on the way to meet her father at some address he had messaged her. Lying she had told him she was out with a girlfriend, a catch up over coffee and breakfast. He hadn't replied; so now she was freaking out as Ji Yong, who had insisted, drove her to the mysterious location.

"You know if anything happens, I'm just at as much fault as you." He looked at her, now deep in thought.

"Its okay. Its all my doing".

"What I'm saying is I'll fight it".

"Fight what?" Chaerin was confused.

"Anything that happens to you." Ji Yong raised his voice, he's eyes on the road but his focus was clearly somewhere else.

Chaerin was quiet for about a minute, "Why?" she asked. Her voice close to a whisper.

"Because I care about you", Ji Yong still hadn't taken his eyes off the road. "I always have", he sighed, "I might not be the best at showing it in the past, but I guess that's why I'll have to make up for it now". He turned the car down a side street and parked it. Then he finally looked at Chaerin. "I know you're heartbroken and confused, and I know that you don't have those feelings for me, but I'm happy to wait for you. Stand by you, till you're ready to make the choice". He smiled, "In the past I would've teased you, but now, well... I'm glad I can express myself and my heart to you". Reaching over he placed his hand on hers, "do what you want, but I'll always be here for you".

Chaerin couldn't look up. What was happening? She felt the muscles clench around her heart, squeezing it. It was painful and the more she processed what Ji Yong said, the more it hurt. Coincidence? Probably just heartburn from all the drinking. Never again.

"I think you should go", a cheerful Ji Yong pulled her out of her imagination. "You father would be waiting". He unbuckled her seat belt, "Its just around in the next block, I parked here so he couldn't see us".

Chaerin nodded, opening the car door and stepping outside. "Um... Ji Yong..", she hesitated.

"Dokk Chae, you don't need to give me an answer now", he smiled, "take your time and call me if you need to be picked up" and with that he started the car and drove off, leaving Chaerin standing alone in the middle of the road.

What just happened? Chaerin shook her head as she headed off to the address her father gave her.

"Now I hope you understand this doesn't mean that your off the hook just yet." Her father stood in the middle of a very spacious studio apartment. Chaerin listened to him, but her eyes wandered around the new space she would soon call home.

It was a classic, simplistic modern studio. The walls were a mix of white plaster and the exterior brick. No doubt an old warehouse that had been converted. She had a separate bathroom and walk in wardrobe. It wasn't as big as London, but it felt like a home. Chaerin smiled at her father, "Thanks Dad". She laughed and hugged him. "This is amazing".

Her father was clearly taken back by her sudden affection, "That okay", he was a little flustered. "Now, make sure you send me your timetable for university next week", he ruffled her hair, "we need to work out your schedule".

"Sure thing dad", nothing could ruin her mood. "I'll send it tonight". She looked around the empty apartment, "when do I move in?"

Her father checked his phone, "today, the movers should be one their way. I must say you made it easy, with half your stuff still packed in boxes".

"I never got the time to unpack them".

"Well, just to let you know, you're only going to get busier. GDragon's still got promotions for his album and one of my actors is looking for a manager whilst he's working on an action film".

Chaerin nodded, "If I have time, remember university comes first".

"Only if you remain high marks".

"No pressure Dad".

"No, you should have pressure. Pressure helps you grow".

Exhausted from the move, Chaerin laid in her bath, letting the water soak away all the stress and impurity, well, she hoped. The last few weeks had been exhausting and even more so with her father constantly peering over her shoulder, both at work and at home. Chaerin felt suffocated, she just wanted a break.

She sighed as her phone buzzed, it was a message from her father, telling her to come into the studio for yet another meeting. Did it ever stop?  She quickly typed a reply and climbed out of the bath. Short lived relaxation. She wrapped a towel around her and walked to her now full wardrobe. Now what to wear.

The car ride was alot shorter than from her parents house, if she had been in less of a rush she could've enjoyed the walk. Thanking her driver, she stepped out of the car and made her way to the entrance, where she found Mino and Taehyun, surrounded by a small sea of cameras.

"Chaerin-ssi", Mino bowed a perfect 90 degrees, greeting her.

Taehyun opted for a less formal, "Noona!" Before Mino silenced him.

"Yah, Mino-ah. Its okay, I told you guys to call me noona anyway", she grinned, "what are you guys doing here?" She motioned to all the cameras.

"Oh, this Noona?" Taehyun flipped his hair, "can't you see we're famous". He gave her a deadly eye-smile.

"Tsk tsk", Mino shook his head, "Sorry noona, we're filming a show for debut".

"Oh, are you guys debuting?"

"Hopefully, but first we have to compete against another team"

"But we're team A and A is always first" Taehyun added. "Noona, you should do a cheer for us". He pointed at the camera.

"Umm.... okay, I guess..." she paused, "What should I say?"

"Just something like "Team A Hwaiting!!""

Chaerin closed her eyes, taking a deep breath she looked up at the camera, "Team A for the W-I-N!" She cheered in perfect English.

"Wow Noona, that was amazing. I didn't know you could speak english like that", Taehyun praised her as Mino nodded along in agreement.

"Haha, thanks guys", she check her watch, "but I have to go. I've got a meeting with YG and I'm a little late".

With out so much as a word, the two boy ushered her into the elevator, "bye noona!" they chorused.

It was a little past 2 by the time Chaerin made it into her father's office. He had company, but the receptionist had said it was fine for her to go in. "They're waiting for you". Chaerin stepped though the door, carefully closing it behind her so not to make a noise.

"Ah, Chaerin-ah, there you are. We've been waiting for you", he beckoned her over, hinting for her to take a seat opposite.

"Good afternoon Chaerin-ssi"

Chaerin rolled her eyes, she knew that voice. "Seunghyun-ssi. Good morning", she forced a smile sitting down next to him. "For what do I owe the pleasure?"

Her father cut right to the chase. "Seunghyun has a movie shoot in Jeju Island next weekend and unfortunately his manager is unable to tend to it". He smiled, "I want you to go as his manager".

Chaerin didn't blink. "But I'm already Ji Yong-ssi's manager. And I have university starting".

"Ji Yong will be in japan next weekend and I know for a fact you don't have classes on the weekend", her father sighed, "do you not remember our deal?"

Checkmate "Of course I do". How could I forget. She glanced over to Seunghyun who was grinning like an idiot. "What's the schedule?"

* * * * *

Chaerin couldn't help but sigh as she trudged all the long corridor. Not only had she missed out on a weekend alone, she had to spend it with Seunghyun. No doubt she'd fall for his charm. She liked bad boys, they weren't after commitment and neither was she.

As she neared Ji Yong's recording both her phone binged, a notification for her emails. She checked it, letting out a small groan. Attached was an invite for a university gathering. No doubt another night filled with champagne and stuck up graduates bragging about how much they had accomplished and the moment they found out who her father was they would be all over her like the plague. Chances are they already knew. She pulled open the door to the studio to find it empty, there was a track playing and everything had been left on, but there was no one there. Chaerin checked her phone again, he had said he'd be here.

It has been a while since the time between you and I have stopped
Misunderstanding is always the cause of pain
Well I don’t even know myself
So my hope for you to know me is a misunderstanding itself

People smile with an effort, hiding the truth
As if they’re happy
While hiding the lie in the word love
As if it will be forever

Chaerin was memorized by the song, the lyrics were erey, but at the same time warm. She seated herself on the couch and listened as Ji Yong continued to rap. She didn't know what it was with this man, his songs always managed to pull her, it was as if he'd written them just for her. The beats, rhythms and lyrics spoke volumes to her, reminding her of the first time she saw him in that club, his face, his attitude, she'd never admit it, but she liked that Ji Yong. After that day she would stare at him from the window of her classroom whenever he had sports class, or across the cafeteria. She was convinced that it was hatred, but now hearing all this she couldn't help but feel it was different. Do I perhaps lik......

"Chaerin?" She was broken out of her trance by a suprised Ji Yong, "I didn't know you were coming in today".

"Yeah", she smiled, "Dad called me in and well I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone", she picked up the bag of his clothes she had brought in. "Thanks for this, he didn't pick up on anything".

"Why?" Ji Yong's face was serious.

"Why what?"

"Why can't you tell him you spent the night with me?"

"What do you mean, "spent the night"?"

"I mean, why can't you tell him you spent the night at mine?"

Chaerin sighed, "cause we have a deal."

"A deal? What kind of deal?" Ji Yong was curious.

"Why all the questions all of a sudden Ji Yong-ssi?"

"I'm just curious, and don't you Ji Yong-ssi me or i'll tell your father. We're the same age anyway".

"Fine. I'm not allowed to be involved with men".

Ji Yong was quiet.

"You know what I was like back in London. Well my dad found out what I was like then too, and he's imposed some.... rules".

"How many?"

"I've got 3 weeks left, getting my own place was part of the deal".

"I don't mean that, how many guys?" Ji Yong whispered.

"Oh...." Chaerin wasn't sure on how to answer, "not many......"

"How many?" He was firm.

"Ummm... maybe 14 or so, thats all I can rememeber".

"I see", Ji Yong.

"But I didn't like them or anything", she hastily added. Why am I even justifying myself.

"So none of the guys that you slept with in London meant anything?"

"Exactly, just a one off release". Chaerin smiled. He understood.

"I see". He offered her a dry smile,"I need to go an talk to xin", he picked up the bag of clothes, "thanks" he said before exiting the studio.

Chaerin was confused, then it dawned on her.

You slept with him in London. .
