Home Town Hero

Whats the worst thing you've ever done?

Chaerin awoke to find the small bedroom completely destroyed. Geeze! What had they gotten up to here? It looked like someone had set of a small atomic bomb, clothes were thrown everywhere, chairs were toppled and there was quite a large dint in the wall. She glanced across at the now sleeping (and ) GD. Chaerin couldn't believe  how beautiful he looked, not hot, but beautiful. The moonlight from the window danced along the feminine features of his face and his slender back, which exhibited a tattoo; "Too fast to live, too young to die". Chaerin slipped out from under the covers, making a beeline for her clothes, that were scattered all around the room. She quickly put on her shorts and bra, buttoning her shirt all the way up. She picked up GD's jacket and tried it on, it fitted perfectly. Chaerin grinned, she always enjoyed taking trophies from her conquests.

Sitting down on the side of the bed, she forced her sore feet into the heels, tying them up tight in some attempt to make it hurt less when she'd have to walk.

"Don't go Ddok Chae..." Chaerin froze as a sleeping GD grabbed at her arm.

"What did you just call me?" she whispered

"Ddok Chae..." GD muttered, his eyes still closed.

Chaerin stood up, pulling away from his grip. How does he know my old nickname? Ddok Chae was short for "Smart Chaerin" or "Brainy Chaerin" a name she had earned during her years at high school back in Seoul. She hadn't heard it for at least three years, but now, when shes just about to head home some guy mutters it. She sighed, I'm not superstitious but this has to be a bad omen. Quickly she gathered all the rest of her stuff and left, choosing not to look back.

Navigating her way through the house and around the reminence of the party, Chaerin called a cab and was relieved when one showed up in less than five minutes. Quoting her home address she sat back in the seat and closed her eyes, the driver would wake her up when they got there.

As the cab sped off GD opened his eyes, an expression of regret washed over his face. His eyes on the verge of tears, "Ddok Chae... What happened to you?"

* * * * *

As inevitable as it was Chaerin couldn't believe she'd be returning home. The last three years of her life sat piled into three large cardboard boxes. A collection of memories, many full of regret, that were to be shipped home with her as if to say "We want you all gone" with nothing remaining. Chaerin couldn't help but imagine if her London friends would actually remember and miss her. She'd rang her mother a few nights ago, making up some excuse about how she was homesick and glad to be coming back. Her mother wasn't the brightest of people and as a result she seemed to be happy just because her baby girl was coming home, asking no further questions. Chaerin hadn't heard from her father, but that was normal. He was always busy and her mother had told her a little while ago that he was currently preparing a new boy group for debut. "They're all very good looking", her mother had said.

Chaerin ran her fingers through her hair, breathing deeply in an attempt to suppress her tears. It was the end of a chapter. Taking her last look she grabbed her bag and suitcase, exiting the apartment for the last time.

Sophie met her downstairs with the cab.

"Hey Chaerin", she smiled, "boy, these last few weeks went by quickly". She paused, inhaling sharply, "didn't think this day would actually come". She grabbed her friend in a tight embrace. "Promise me you'll come and visit again! Or at least pay for me to visit you when you're all rich and stuff!"

Chaerin smiled, a single tear ran down over left cheek, "of course. This isn't the end. Come to Korea and then I'll teach you how to really go wild!"

Sophie laughed, "it seems the student has surpassed the master. I love you Lee Chaerin..."

"Yeah me too", Chaerin sniffed.

"You should go," Sophie opened the door of the cab for her, "don't want you to miss your flight now".

"I guess...." Chaerin gave her one last hug before getting into the cab and driving off.

"Are you alright miss?"

Chaerin nodded, "I'm just tired. Haven't got much sleep in the past few weeks".

The driver nodded back and remained silent as Chaerin wiped her smudged make up.

"Hi, can I get you a drink miss?"

Chaerin continued  to stare into her rum and soda, ocassionally stiring the drink as the young man persisted.

"Miss you're very beautiful....."

Still Chaerin remained silent.

"Excuse me Miss?"

Suddenly Chaerin's message tone went off, snatching up the phone she checked it;

Have a safe flight

M xx

er AJ. Chaerin grimiced, holding in yet another round of tears. You had to tell him didn't you, just can't keep your big mouth shut. She looked up from her phone, downing her drink in one shot before turning to the man and smiling, "Sure. I'd like that".

By the time Chaerin boarded her flight she was exhausted, a result of the rather excessive amount of alcohol and the strenuous quickly in the first class lounge bathrooms. She was grateful they hadn't ended up on the same flight, afterall all Chaerin wanted to do on this plane was sleep. She found her seat and put up the "Do Not Disturb Sign" before stripping down to her singlet and popping the first button open on her jeans for maximum comfort. Laying down she put on her headphone and music, drifting off to sleep.

"Don't lie to me Chae...."

"I'm not. I told you I can't remember.... I was so wasted, but I wouldn't even.."

Mike grimaced, "That's always you're excuse.... I'm sorry Chae, but for God's sake this isn't that easily excusable".

Chaerin could her tears welling, "Milke, I love you!" She reached out for him. "You know that. I wouldn't.... never.."

"Well, how do you explain it then? I walk in our bedroom to see you and...."

"Mike, theres got to be some other explanation", she paused, "We need to talk to him..."

"I have an explanation, the most plausible one". He grabbed Chaerin tightly, pulling her onto the bed. He climbed on top of her, pinning her down with such force. "You..." he whispered, his face centimeters away from hers, "slept with my best friend. Out of all people, you ed AJ! !!"

Chaerin woke up covered in a cold layer of sweat. That... was scary. She'd dreamt it before, but it had been a while since it had been that intense.

"Miss? Are you okay? Can I get you anything?" The female flight attendant smiled at her with concerned eyes.

"I'm fine.... Um.. but I could do with a strong black coffee", Chaerin smiled, "I don't really want to sleep again". She shuddered recalling her nightmare.

The attendant nodded, "of course Miss Lee, I'll prepare one now".

Chaerin exhaled and leant back on her chair. She flipped through the movie selection settling on an Action/Horror film. That'll keep me awake. And got comfortable for the journey home.

Chaerin couldn't remember when she had fallen asleep but the next minute she was being woken up by the flight attendant. "Miss Lee, its time for us to land". She motioned to Chaerin's now fully extended chair. "If you would let me...". Chaerin nodded, still not fully awake, and the flight attendant quickly moved the chair into the up right position and secured all the pillows and blankets in the over head locker. "Hope you had a nice flight Miss Lee". The flight attendant turned to leave just as the pilot the intercom.

"Attention all passengers. Thank you for traveling with us. We are just outside Seoul and will begin our descent in approximately two minutes. I ask that all of you remain seated until the plane is safely on the ground and the seatbelt sign has been turned off. Thankyou!" The intercom beeped out as Chaerin felt the plane begin to lower. Here we go Lee Chaerin. She gripped her seat. Welcome "Home".

* * * * *

As soon as she exited customs (traveling first class had its perks, including a fast track through customs), she saw a driver holding up a sign with her name in korean. Chaerin couldn't help but feel overwhelmed. It was real, she was home, well back in Korea anyway. She smiled at the driver who promptly picked up her suitcases and lead her out to the large black van parked outside. Pulling open the back door he offered his hand, "Little Miss, if you would please...."

Chaerin obliged him by taking his hand and climbing into the van. "Thank you" she smiled as the driver closed the sliding door gently. Taking a deep breath she sat back on the leather padded chair. I have not missed this at all. The driver started up the van and pulled out of the carpark. "Where to Little Miss?"

"Home", Chaerin replied, "And could you turn some music on?"

"Okay Little Miss".

Soon the car was filled with the tones of Korean Hip-Hop pumping through the speakers. No doubt this was one of her fathers singers.

My rap is what makes the ladies come to the bedroom

Yeah, I'm busy

Money flower blooms on my business

I wont rest

My songs stack up more stories for buildings

I love it!

Chaerin found herself tapping along to the song's strong base line. Despite the obvious fact it was Korean, this song wasn't that bad. It was something Mike would probably sample. She stopped. Ah Chaerin! You've just got to let it go! "Excuse me", she asked the driver, "who sings this?"

The driver laughed, "Little Miss you've got to be kidding me. This is by G Dragon". He quickly composed himself before adding, "he's only the biggest star in Asia".

"Alright, alright. I've been out of the loop for three years. Theres not much Kpop in London". She turned her attention back to the window, "though I can't say that's a bad thing".

The house was empty when Chaerin got home. A note attached to the front door;

At the office with your Father

xxoo Mum

Chaerin sighed, ripping the note off before returning to the driver who was in the process of unloading her suitcases. "We've got a new destination". She jumped in the van and closed the door.

"Where to Little Miss?"

"The YG office", she made herself comfortable, "and step on it. I just want to find a place to sleep".

They drove in silence, Chaerin using this time to refamilarise herself with the area. She had no idea where the new office was as her father had started the construction just after she left and had notified her (through her mother) as to its completion 2 years ago, not that she had cared. So in a sense she was glad for her driver otherwise finding it herself would've been a nightmare. Her fathers occupation had never interested her, the whole industry was so fake. Chaerin liked music, real music though. None of this pop-autotune crap where boys looked like girls and girls looked like a bad intimation of Barbie dolls.

The driver suddenly took a sharp left, causing Chaerin to look up, she gasped, dropping open. In front of her stood a huge post-apocalyptic building with what appeared to be a modified white peace sign on a blood red background. Wow father, you must be doing well.

The driver pulled up in front of the door, "Miss we're here"

"Thanks", Chaerin pulled out her phone, dialing her mothers number. Much to her surprise her father answered, his deep voice catching her off guard.

"Chaerin-ah"

"Hi Dad. I'm outside the office"

"Come in. I'm busy now, but grab something to eat at the cafeteria and I'll meet you there", he  hung up before Chaerin could even ask where the cafeteria was.

"Love you too....." Chaerin muttered before climbing out of the van. She approached the door and keyed in the code her father had messaged her. "I won't be too long" she told her driver, "do you mind waiting for me?" He nodded. Chaerin smiled, "thanks" and headed inside where she set off in search of the cafeteria.

"Hyung! Wait for me!!" A tall, thin boy with floppy black hair ran around the corner at phenomenal speed, knocking Chaerin over. "Aish! I'm sorry", he bowed at a perfect 90º and then bent down to help her up.

"Taehyun-ah", a deep voice echoed down the corridor, "where are you?"

"Here Hyung!" Taehyun replied.

Chaerin starred as a dark and somewhat handsome boy rounded the corner. The boy stopped upon seeing Chaerin on the floor, "Taehyun! What did you do?" He walked over to her, pushing Taehyun out of the way and helping Chaerin on to her feet, "I'm really sorry for my dongseng, he can be pretty clumsy". Extending out his hand he introduced himself, "I'm Song Mino, but everyone just calls me Mino". His voice had a somewhat rhythmic quality to it which intrigued Chaerin, it was like his voice. "I haven't seen you around before? Are you a new trainee?" Mino interrupted.

"Something like that", Chaerin replied as she dusted off her jacket. "Could either of you tell me where the cafeteria is?"

"Let me take you.... noona?" Taehyun said, carefully, "consider it part of my apology".

"We can all go together", Mino interrupted smiling at Chaerin, "If you'd follow me".

* * * * *

The interior of the cafeteria was very modern adopting the black perspex walled that featured through out what Chaerin had seen so far of the building. On the right there was a self service area with trays of delicious looking dishes. Chaerin carefully selected hers before joining the other boys at one of the long communal tables.

"What!!??" Taehyun gasped as he saw what was on her plate, "no kimchi!!"

"Oh", Chaerin glanced down at the tray, "yeah, I don't normally eat it".

"Don't........normally......eat.....Kimchi.....?" Taehyun slowly repeated.

"I've been living in London for the past few years and well, Kimchi is hard to get so I got used to it".

"Why were you in London", Mino stopped chewing.

"Study mainly, plus I needed to get away from my parents"

"So you studied music?"

"Business actually, but I dabbled a bit in music while I was over there".

It was Taehyun's turn, "so are you a rapper or vocalist?"

Chaerin shrugged, "a bit of both I guess".

"Wow, I beat you're a good dancer too"

A boy approached Mino, whispering something into his ear, his eyebrows raising in surprise. "Really? Has anyone seen her?"

The other boy shook his head, "but she's already inside, Bobby checked with security. Its confirmed"

"What are you guys talking about?" Taehyun didn't like being excluded from his hyung's conversations.

"The boss's daughter is here"

Chaerin froze, "what do you mean?"

"Our boss has a daughter who no one has ever seen. She's like one of YG's mysteries, an urban legend. The older guys know her, but for us, shes like a ghost." Mino explained, "anyway, apparently she here now".

"They say she's hot", Taehyun added, "but I bet she's the prissy type". He sighed.

"Prissy?"

"Yeah, like the princess syndrome that happens when a girl gets everything she wants".

Chaerin chuckled, "I bet she's a total ".

"Shhhh!" Taehyun tried to silence her, "we don't know what she looks like. For all we know she could be sitting in this very room!"

"Whoops!" Chaerin forced down her laughter.

"Quiet you two! YG is coming!" Mino hit Taehyun lightly on the shoulder, "maybe his daughter is with him".

The whole room fell silent as YG (or Chaerin's Dad) entered.

"Chaerin-ah", he spoke, "come with me".

Mino and Taehyun stared at Chaerin, their mouths wide open as she stood up and began to walk over to where her father was. "Taehyun", she whispered, "seems you were right about her being here".
