☪ Enchanted | A 2010 Girl GroupJANUARY 4th, 2010
CAMERA ON
"Welcome to the first episode of Learn About Korea With Enchanted!" One of the MC's, Super Junior's Leeteuk, cheered.
"Hello we are Enchanted!" The four members properly greeted the camera.
"This show may seem strange to most viewers but, there is something very unique about this group! All of Enchanted's beautiful members are not only half Korean but none have been raised in Korea," Leeteuk explained.
"Would you guys like to introduce yourselves?" Taeyeon, the second MC, questioned.
The members nodded and they silently agreed to go by age.
"Hello I am Ellie," Ellie gave an awkward bow. "I am Enchanted's leader, and I am from Sweden."
"Hi I'm Sara," Sara bowed. "I am Enchanteds rapper, and I am from France."
"Hello everyone I am Oksana," Ana smiled while bowing. "I am Enchanteds dancer, and I'm from the Ukraine."
"Hello I am Khione," Kyojin bowed, since she knew the least Korean out of all the members her accent was also the most obvious of the four. "I am Enchanteds vocalist, and I'm from Greece."
The MC's simultaneously clapped for the members while Leeteuk spoke, "Wow it's crazy how people from so far away can come together back in their homeland. This show isn't only for Enchanted to learn more about their homeland but it's also to help any foreigners that may be living here. And Enchanted will get the chance to teach us about their own countries."
"Every episode Enchanted will be learning something new to them about Korea and at the end of every episode they will be tested on their knowledge, so pay attention!" Taeyeon brightly smiled.
"I'm going to ask a question that I believe is on everyones mind! So Enchanted, how did you get interested in Kpop and wanted to come to Korea instead of practicing in the country you grew up in?" Leeteuk asked.
"We've all actually discussed this before and we were surprsied when we discovered all of our reasonings are the same," Sara explained. "It's because it's harder for any Asian to break out into a predominatly white country; which all of us are from. We all decided we wanted as good of a chance as anyone and our best bet was to come back to where our families came from."
"Very interesting," Leeteuk smiled. "The members and I have spoken a bit before the show and we quickly found out even though the members have lived in Korea for a few years now they still don't know much about the history of Korea."
"As trainees we were the ones that would either be practicing or sleeping," Ana laughed.
"But it's thanks to that dedication you're here now," Taeyeon put in.
"It's kind of a shame we didn't get out as much, we really want to know more about where we originate from," Ellie said.
The cameras panned over to multiple cardboard pieces that were covered with small bits of information and pictures underneath its designated time period.
"The Korean Peninsula actually formed over 400,000 years ago!" Leeteuk exclaimed, getting some 'oh's from Enchanted. "The first Korean kingdom was the Gojoseon in the north and the Jin State in the south. Legend has it that Gojoseon was established by a man named Dangun, who descended from heaven. By the 4th century BC Gojoseon was well known in China, after King Jung fled to the Jin state the Han Dynasty defeated the coup that drove him out. Afterwards a state called Jin arose but very little is know. Sadly there isn't much known about the Jin state."
"Afterwards was the Proto-Three Kingdoms," Taeyeon smiled. "It's before the Three Kingdoms of Korea and after the fall of Gojoseon. During this time numerous states popped up however the largest were Dongbuyeo and Bukbuyeo. Buyeo rose in what is now North Korea and southern Manchuria, after it fell it was absorbed into Goguryeo in 494 and two of the Three Kingdoms of Korea considered themselves its successor. Samhan is actually the three confedaracies of Mahan, Jinhan, and Byeonhan. They were located in the southern region. Mahan was the largest and assumed political, economical and cultural dominance at the time. It was later conqured by the Baekje, Silla, and Gaya in the 4th century."
Leeteuk quickly swapped his MC cards, "Then there comes the Three Kingdoms Era, they were Goguryeo, Silla, and Baekje. Goguryeo was founded in 37 BC by Jumong, later King Taejo centralized the government and they were the first Korean kingdom to adopt Buddhism as the state religion in 372. Later they fought and defeated massive Chinese invasions in the Goguryeo-Sui war from 598-614. Due to this Sui fell and continued to repel the Tang dynasty under several generals. It was due to numerous wars with China that made Goguryeo fell.
"Baekje was founded by King Onjo in 18 BC. In expanded southwest and became a significant political and military power. It came into fierce confrontation with Goguryeo and the Chinese. At it's peak during the 4th century the King Guenchogo had absorbed all of the Mahan states and most of the western peninsula and turned them into a centralized government. Baekje acquired Chinese culture and technology thr
