Description
In the year 2558, scientists on Earth discovered an exo planet within the galaxy able to sustain life. It is now 2684 and the government has become corrupt and oppressive, forcing the vast majority of the world's inhabitants to live with next to nothing, barely surviving. In an attempt to regain their sense of humanity, people in various districts have begun to rebel. Deep below the surface of the Mato district, the desire to rebel, thought to have been crushed years ago, is growing again. Children, engineers, and mechanics occasionally disappear, reportedly killed in accidents but only the miners, those believed to be living in the dark about the world, know just how big things are getting and how deep these tunnels really go…
Foreword
When Bree was six, living in the barracks outside the Mato district's mining prefecture, she was ripped away from her parents. After the government carried out the decimation of the Vixx district for talk of rebellion, a mandate was passed that no child in Mato, the government's technological district, would grow up knowing blood relations. Having no family to speak of, she and six other children grew close and are now heading up the army of resistance workers known as Matoki. With each of them working in different areas, Bree and the others have been making contact with outside districts and making the necessary connections to turn the pockets of rebellion into an all-out war.
