Stranger's Love

3rd October 2019

Sitting at the corner of the shop, Aleyah sipped her flower tea as she finished chapter 6 of her chinese novel. She sighed and closed her book. The storyline was pulling her heartstrings and she can’t bring herself to carry on reading anymore.

The man in the novel was younger than the woman by 5 years. They knew each other since birth and were inseparable childhood friends. In order to catch up with the girl, the boy made sure he was smarter than others so he could skip grades. All he wanted was to be on par and walked side by side with her. However he was still a step slower than her. He walked her footsteps enrolling into the same elementary, middle and high school as her despite being able to do much better at somewhere more prestigious. In the end he gave up chasing after her and realized that it was alright to be a step behind her. Because whenever she’s tired of walking forward and decides to take a rest, he will be a step behind her to support her.

Does this even make sense? Aleyah asked herself. How can someone make their life choices revolving around a certain someone? She tried to put herself in the man’s shoes and came to a conclusion that she wouldn’t let her world revolve around someone in particular.  Then she realized that whatever she was thinking was invalid. She herself had made one of the biggest choices in her life around that certain someone. And her life was indeed revolving around him somehow. Watching his fancams, tuning in to his radio shows everyday were considered right?

“Welcome to Pollen.” She snapped out of her thoughts and greeted the couple who just came in. Flashback of that certain someone walking through that door appeared right before her immediately, causing her to space out once again.

“Excuse me?” The man beckoned her over.

“Oh, coming!” Aleyah tied her hair back into a loose ponytail as she walked over to the couple gracefully, her long white skirt dancing around her ankles. She smiled sweetly at them as her eyes darkened in contrast.

Ever since Kai visited the shop the other day, she kept getting flashbacks of it. Whenever she hears the bells jingle, she would hope he would come sweeping through those doors like he did before. However, most of the time she would be disappointed.

*******

The man pulled his cap lower instinctively when he saw a couple in the shop. However, the 3 of them were so engrossed in their conversation to notice him entering. Not even the lady. He walked nearer to the counter as he contemplated if he should come back later. Just as he was about to leave, the lady turned around.

She looked at him with her eyebrow deeply furrowed for a few seconds. It was until he nodded at her before she broke into a smile and nodded back in response.

Excusing herself, Aleyah walked over to the man in cap. “Take a seat there. They are almost done.” She led him to the table at the corner of the room and selected a seat that backfaced the shop. “Be right back.” Serving him a cup of flower tea, she went back to the couple.

How did she know that I was worried about getting recognized when I didn’t say a single word? Kai smiled in amazement as he shrugged it off. This lady was truly amazing in one way or another, Kai thought to himself. She managed to let the perfectionist Han Solbi, his fiancé, sing praises of the flowers he bought for her for days.

“How can I help you today?” Aleyah walked passed him and took a seat in front of the man.

“I want to get another bouquet of flowers for my fiancé today.” Unknowingly, Kai breathed in a little harder than usual. “She loves the one I gave her last week.”

Aleyah laughed dryly and nodded in response. How can Bi not love those flowers? She, a hardcore fan of Kai had obviously done a certain level of research on his rumoured girlfriend before. Of course she knew what kind of person she was. The flowers she chose that day were specially matched to her personality.

“Yellow tulips means hopelessly in love, red tulips signifies a form of declaration of love and violet tulips represents loyalty. Hydrangea potrays perseverance and freesia makes one feel spirited. This bouquet should be sufficient to tell your fiancé how in love you are with her.” Aleyah passed Kai the bouquet of flowers for his engagement anniversary today.

“Remember what I’ve just said?” Kai just furrowed his eyebrow in response. He’s trying to recall what she just said.

“Write it down and memorize it. I won’t guarantee your fiancé will cry a bucket when she hears this but at the very least she will be touched.” Aleyah knew he didn’t remember what she just said.

“You mean flowers of different colours have different meanings?” Kai looked at her with his rounded eyes. He didn’t know that flowers have such deep meaning attached to them. She nodded as an answer.

“And you remember all of it?” She nodded once again. He looked at her with amazement.

“How did you manage to do that?” Aleyah looked at Kai with her eyebrow raised. She was indeed surprised. Given her knowledge about him, he wasn’t someone who sparks conversation with someone he wasn’t familiar with. And she clearly wasn’t someone he would ever consider familiar, given that they’ve only met twice officially. So it was kind of amazing that he was asking her questions that was of her area of interest.

“Just like how you memorize your dance routines.”

Hello Subbies. It's me again. Hope you like this long chapter. I spent nearly 3 hours writing this chapter and I'm really satisfied with it.

Was so excited to write this chapter that i went home right after my tutoring session ended.

Although my initial conversation between Aleyah and Kai didn't go as planned, it didn't turn out as bad.

Anw this is the floormap of the shop. I'm afraid some of you guys may picture it differently so i've decided to draw it out.

It's more of like entrance to the store than just store.

So yupp! Hope you guys will like this chapter as much as i do.

So I decided to re-read this story today and was looking at the comments before doing so. I had noticed that many of you guys are siding on sehun. Am I the only one who's still rooting for the bad guy? I mean sehun is okay, sure. Cheating is never okay, I understand. But Idk man, Im still rooting for aleeyah and kai. She has love him for a long time and when Kai realized it, he was also falling in love with her at the very wrong time. Im sorry im just being emo pls ignore me.
