Chapter 15

The One that Got Away

Hara walked passed between Sulli and Suzy and hugged Minho.

“I’m so happy to see you.” Said Hara “It’s been a long time.”

Minho tapped Hara’s back.

“I didn’t know you’ll be back in Korea.” Said Minho

Hara pulled back.

“Yeah…me too…I wasn’t expecting we can return this year.” Said Hara “L was pretty in demand I thought it will take us another 2 years before we can return.”

Minho looked at L. L walked towards Minho tapped Minho’s shoulder.

“Been a long time.” Said L

“Yeah.” Said Minho

Sulli can feel the coldness between the two. It almost felt awkward. Was it still because Minho chose Luceat over the art’s club? But that was 6 years ago…

“Why did you return?” asked Minho

“Can’t I return to my home country?” asked L

“Oh...I assume Minho doesn’t know yet then.” Said Hara

“Know what?” asked Sulli

“L and Suzy is going to start preparations for their wedding early next year.” Said Hara

What?!!! Sulli held her bag closer to her chest.

Oh no…Minho…

Sulli tried to look emotionless…but her chest is heaving.

“We’ve pretty much delayed the plans since we’re both career oriented people. But we’re both not getting any younger. So the wedding should push through soon.” said L

“You are invited, if you could come, Minho.” Said L

What? Doesn’t  ‘L’  know what is happening here?

“Of course my cousin Sulli has to be there too.” Said Suzy

“Of course.” Said L

“Well…” Sulli cleared . “Umm..Best Wishes then…umm…Minho and I needs to hurry…We have a flight in a  couple of minutes and we need to be in the gate now.” Said Sulli

“Together?” asked Hara with that surprise look on her face.

“Umm…we work together for a magazine…Seoul’s Hub.” Said Sulli

“Ahh….so you got what you wanted.” Said L towards Minho

Minho looked at Suzy then.

“Best wishes.” Said Minho and then he turned to Sulli “Let’s go.”

Minho and Sulli walked on.

‘L’ has that smirk on his face.

“Your boyfriend is making it difficult.” Said L

Suzy took a deep breath.

“He’s not my boyfriend.” Said Suzy

“You two, please don’t make trouble. Let Minho be.” Said Hara

L just nodded “You’re still a softie when it comes to Minho, Hara.” Said L “But I’m not like you. You know what I came back here for.”

“As for you, my dear fiancée.” Said L “There is a lot  we need to talk about.”

Minho has not talked since they sat on the chair by gate 12. Sulli did not have the courage to ask him anything…if he’s not going to talk…then I’m not going to start a conversation..thought Sulli.

Finally the call to board was done and they were able to get into the plane seated beside each other…Busan….how long has she not been there? Maybe 8 years?

Sulli is uncomfortable…if they will not talk in the next minutes, her breath is going to be rotten.

Sulli looked at Minho…he looks…normal…he has that same expressionless face as if his girlfriend did not just say she will marry someone else. How can he contain it?

“I told you not to stare right?” said Minho

“Do you feel uncomfortable?” asked Sulli

Minho turned to face Sulli…but her face is too close…Minho looked away.

“When you stare at someone…there should be a reason. Is it because you’re mesmerized by me? Or do you want to say something that you can’t say?” asked Minho

Sulli took a deep breath.

“Umm…it’s definitely not the first…” said Sulli

“I thought so too.” Said Minho “So what do you want to say that you can’t?”

“Umm…are you…ok?” asked Sulli

Minho’s brows were slowly joining together.

“Why are you suddenly concerned if I’m ok?” asked Minho

“Well…earlier…Suzy…L…umm…Nevermind!” Sulli sat down properly facing the front. She gives up! She can’t let the words out well anyway. If he says he’s fine, then so be it!

“I know she was engaged…I learned it even before Suzy and I got close.” Said Minho

Sulli ‘s eyes is wide in surprise….Minho knew?

“So why did you still had a relationship with her?” Sulli is getting angry. If you know someone is committed to someone else, why would you still have a romantic relationship with her?! Sulli’s blood is starting to boil. And Suzy…what is the matter with her? She has a fiancée but still…ARGGGGG!!!!!

Minho turned to Sulli when he heard the irritation in Sulli’s voice. He can see Sulli’s hand clenched.

“We were never in a relationship.” Said Minho “But yes, there were times when we got overly close to the point that we almost crossed the border of being friends and lovers.”

That made Sulli’s heart ache…suddenly the anger is being replaced by something painful in her chest…

“We were together night and day…we almost never get to work with anyone else in the team. It was inevitable that we became so close.” Said Minho

“But it was clear from the start we can’t be together.” Said Minho

“I don’t understand…from what I saw…it seems Suzy really likes you.” Said Sulli “Did you push her away for L?”
