Try to Fall in Love

Seoyeon woke up entangled in her duvet and panicking. It was three in the morning and she groaned, but she was somehow glad she'd woken up from that dream. She could only remember parts of it when she thought about it, but the flash of silver on her finger wouldn't leave her mind. She stretched and lay back down, attempting to get to sleep again.

“Oh my God!”

Seoyeon heard someone dropping something outside. She wrenched open her eyes and ran to the window, completely surprised when she saw Teo bending over to pick up dozens of newspapers that had blown all over the road and pavement. She pulled on a hoodie over her t-shirt and put some decent shorts on and ran outside, patting her hair down as she went.

“Teo!” she called, running towards him to help. “Let me give you a hand.”

Teo turned and smiled. “Thank- did I wake you up? I'm so sorry!”

“No!” Seoyeon lied. “I've been up for hours.”

“Which explains the hair,” Teo smirked. Seoyeon playfully slapped his arm.

“You want help or not?” Seoyeon laughed. Teo nodded quickly and pointed to a couple of newspapers being blown down the street. Seoyeon began to walk after them, then realised they were faster than her, and started to run.

“Thank you so much,” Teo smiled after Seoyeon helped him deliver the newspapers. They'd become much closer even after just an hour or two and Seoyeon was beaming.

“That's okay, I had fun,” Seoyeon told him. “Hey, have you done the maths homework yet?” She was going to ask if he'd come over to her house so they could do it together.

“Nope. Why?”

Suddenly Seoyeon remembered her punishment for leaving the dinner yesterday. “Oh, I was just wondering.”

They reached Teo's house and he turned to walk to his door. “See you tomorrow, Seoyeon,” he smiled.

“If I'm alive that long,” Seoyeon muttered under her breath. “See you!” she added quickly.

It was nearing 10am when Seoyeon arrived home. She crept in the door, hoping her parents hadn't noticed. Closing the door, it clicked shut, and she let out a breath, turning around slowly, right into her unimpressed mother.

“Is there even any point grounding you?” Mrs Park sighed. “You're just going to go out anyway.”

“I'm sorry,” Seoyeon said sheepishly. “I was helping a friend deliver newspapers.”

“A friend? A girl?” Mrs Park looked excited. Seoyeon had only ever really got along with boys, always getting into arguments with other girls.

“No, a new boy in my school. Teo. I have homework though, so...” she motioned for her mother to move so she could go up the stairs.

“Sam's parents are coming over for dinner,” Mrs Park called after Seoyeon. “Either pretend you're not here or eat with us.”

Of course, Seoyeon stayed in her room, pretending she wasn't there. She heard the guests arrive and eventually ask about her, but her parents gave a very vague answer. She was making her way through her mother's fashion magazines when she couldn't help but hear the conversation downstairs.

“And you think Seoyeon is definitely going to be happy?”
“Of course. She adores him.”

“And it would help bring the business to a point.”

“But is it going to be what she wants? She's very free spirited.”

“That's a nice way to put 'unable to commit'.”

Seoyeon couldn't pick out the different voices as she lay on her bedroom floor. She pressed her ear to the carpet in order to hear more clearly but they'd changed the subject. She sighed as she realised everyone seemed to know something about her, except her.

“Show me your hand!” Yun cried as soon as Seoyeon dragged herself into class on Monday.

“Why?” Seoyeon asked, holding her right hand out.

“Other hand!” Yun grabbed her left hand and his face fell. “Oh. Sorry,” he grinned awkwardly.

“Weirdo,” Seoyeon laughed. She turned as Teo weaved through the tables towards them.

“Hey, Seoyeon, Seungyun,” he nodded. “Uh, Seoyeon, seeing as you helped me yesterday, I-”

“You helped him with what?” Yun interjected.

“I helped him deliver newspapers,” Seoyeon told him quickly, before turning back to Teo.

“I got you something to say thank you,” he smiled. He delved into his bag and pulled out a delicate little silver necklace, plain apart from the tiny little infinity sign. Seoyeon's eyes widened.

“You really didn't have to,” Seoyeon blushed. Teo shook his head and reached over Seoyeon's neck to put the necklace on. He gently pushed her hair out of the way and closed the clasp.

“Thank you, Teo,” Seoyeon said as she lightly held the necklace between her fingers.

“Uh, Teo, can I talk to you for a second?” Yun said, almost threateningly, standing up quickly.

“What was that?” Yun demanded as he pulled Teo outside, gesturing at Seoyeon. She was smiling at the necklace, twirling it in her fingers.

“I wanted to say thank you,” Teo said innocently. “What else was I supposed to do?”

“Say 'thank you'?” Yun sighed. “I just... I just think you two shouldn't get too close. I mean, I know she's been waiting for you since you left all those years ago, but there are other people-”

Teo stopped him mid-sentence. “Waiting for me? What do you mean?”

I love this story so much! Well written and with not a single boring scene. :) How did Yun suddenly go missing though? Just because he let it slip about Taeho? ;;
