Race 03. The First Glimpse
Drifting Hearts"Where's the garage keys?" Chunji asked out loud.
The others were turning the house upside down trying to find it.
High and low they searched, looking for the key that they thought they had left in a safe place. But everyone had thought the other had done it and as a result it wasn't done.
"Found it!!" Changjo said proudly, producing the key taken from beneath the couch.
"Let's go." L.Joe said.
The six of them headed to the garage together. And tried to figure out which button it took to open it.
"Just press all of them." Niel told them.
Changjo did as he was told and the door magically opened. But so did another door inside the garage, showing them a secret that their older brother had kept from them.
"Whoaaaaaa…" They all said together. Inside, the hidden garage side were two shiny sports cars. One blue, the other black.
"What are these?" Ricky asked as they all approached the cars. They had no idea their older brother had these things in the house. How had he hid the cars from them all these years?
"The blue one is a Nissan Skyline GT-R. But it seems to be customized." CAP said as he stood by that car.
"This one too. But it's an Audi R8 Spyder." L.Joe said, looking into the interior of the car.
"What did Sunho hyung do with these?" Niel asked them.
"I don't know. But pick one. We gotta go to the meeting spot so we can enter." Chunji said, hurrying them. L.Joe grabbed the keys to the Spyder and everyone climbed in.
The back was unbearably uncomfortable for the four smaller people, while CAP as the oldest sat shotgun. He pulled up to the abandoned warehouse that was the designated spot for the midnight races.
Everyone tumbled out as they could finally breathe air comfortably and not feel like squished together. L.Joe smirked as they looked around, everyone else had really nice cars too.
He noticed some people only had cars to look at, a few guys had several girls just hanging all over them. He figured they were desperate to ride in the sports car with them.
He noticed that some of them had racing cars, white, red, silver. Mazda, Nissan, and Mitsubishi were the common ones. The others he noticed that were foreign were the European cars.
Chunji gave him a worried look as they noticed everyone's gaze upon them. They were new, it was so obvious to everyone. They all came together in their car and they had no idea how to socialize.
"You're new. It's a $5000 pot and your first opponent is random draw." A man came up to them and said.
"I'm sorry, what?" L.Joe asked him, as they all stared at him.
"Random draw? You mean we don't get to pick?" Chunji asked the man.
"Not for your first race. It's random draw, you either have to win or have a winner vouch for you in order for you to be able to pick your opponents." The man explained to them.
"Okay, well, I guess I'm driving." CAP said, "I am the oldest." He reminded them.
"Fine. You drive. So we are okay with the random draw though?" Changjo asked all of them.
"Do we really have a choice?" Ricky asked.
"Nope." L.Joe said, "Let's get this first race over with." He encouraged and went to the man, "CAP is driving."
"Great, so I will put your name down. My name is Micky if you have any of questions." He said before walking away towards other drivers.
"Okay, don't stress and try to get rid of everything that would weigh you down." L.Joe advised him. "Don't panic and only shift gears when necessary."
"I know." CAP told him, "I can drive."
"Racing and driving are two different things." L.Joe countered. "So be careful."
The others gathered around the race and noticed the white Mitsubishi Lancer next to their Spyder. Another group of people stood by it, a set of twins were there in support of their driver.
"Minwoo. CAP. Are you ready?" The man from earlier came and asked them.
"Yes." The two guys answered together and got into their cars. A beautiful girl stood in the middle holding a flag to signal their start.
"It's just a straightaway. Whoever reaches the end the fastest wins, so make sure your Nos is good and your wheels are straight." He told them and both of them nodded once. "Okay, Yoonji, get ready."
The girl stood tall int he middle, her shorts and heels showing off her gorgeous legs. She smirked at both drivers as they stared at her. She waved the flag wildly, signaling their start and CAP was late to start.
He built up his gears and got into fifth and cruised, catching up to Minwoo easily. Minwoo glared at him from his car and grinned. He pressed one button and the Lancer zoomed away to the finish before CAP could even push his Nos.
"Minwoo wins!" Another man who stood at the end said. He looked different from the one who had taken the name down. He wore a black dress shirt and pants compared to the street clothes of the other man. He looked more professional and it seemed to help prevent arguments amongst the racers.
CAP got out of car angrily, slamming the door and meeting up with his brothers. "What now?" He asked them. "We just lost $5000."
"We have three races to improve by in order to earn our money back." L.Joe said, "Maybe next time I should drive."
"Are you saying that it was my fault?" CAP shouted at him as everyone around them grew quiet. He looked around and noticed everyone watching a black car drive in slowly.
The six of them turned and saw the tinted windows, the shiny paint job. No one spoke a word as the car pulled up, everyone just turned and watched the car.
It finally stopped and then the door opened, making everyone gasp.
