Race 13. The Cruiser
Drifting Hearts“Why did you choose me to go after CAP hyung?” Chunji asked her as he got into the car. He reached for his seatbelt, not looking at her.
“I’ve already said, that we are narrowing it down. The three of you older ones are probably going to be the driver who will win all their races.” Aria explained to him.
“You’re not going to tell us until after we’ve all driven, huh?” He asked, fixing his mirrors and sticking the keys into the ignition.
“You’re smarter than your older brother. That would be an accurate assumption. Now, start.” Aria pointed towards the start line and he drove ahead. He waited at the starting line for Hyeongkon to line up next to him.
He took his time before reaching the line. He called Mia to his window and kissed her lips before a smile crept on his lips. She walked back to the middle, swaying her hips more purposefully to tease Hyeongkon.
Aria rolled down her window, “Hey, stop flirting! You guys have time for that later!” She shouted at the both of them.
“You’re just jealous, Aria!” Hyeongkon yelled back at her.
“Oh, please. Why would I want someone to play tonsil hockey with?” Aria said back. Chunji looked at L.Joe and saw the disappointment flash before him.
“You’re missing out, Aria.” Mia told her. “You should try and find someone.”
“Someone that will put up with me? Yeah, right. Everyone only wants the racer.” Aria scoffed at their idea of her dating.
“You never know, Aria. Until you give someone a chance.” Mia told her, before standing between both cars. She signaled go again for the fifth time and they went off.
Chunji took off cleanly a second ahead of Hyeongkon and drove into the inner lane, trying to keep ahead, but Hyeongkon had experience on him and waited patiently in the back. Chunji took his time as he cruised past the line the first lap.
Hyeongkon still waited behind them and Aria rolled her eyes. She crossed her arms and looked at Chunji. “You’re not exactly a risk taker are you?” She asked him.
“What do you mean?” Chunji asked her with a smirk on his face.
“You should do more.” She said simply. “This is not worthy.” She looked out her window and sighed.
“Just watch me.” Chunji told her as he pressed slightly harder on the gas pedal. Hyeongkon had already managed to catch up to him as they were neck in neck as the finish line approached.
He hit the NOS and zoomed past Hyeongkon. They went around a few more times as the car took time to slow down without whiplash. Hyeongkon whizzed around a few times as he caught up to them. Their cars stopped at the same time at the line and everyone got out.
“Okay. You’re fine.” Aria said.
Hyeongkon swung his arm on her shoulders and she pushed him off, “He beat me.” He told her.
“Because you let him.” Aria remarked, throwing him a glare. “There is no freebies here.”
“You think I let that happen? My ego..” Hyeongkon groaned and Mia came by to hold him up.
“Shut up, Hyeongkon. He cruised most of the race. If you didn’t let that happen, then what? You lost your drive to win?” Aria said, stomping harder on his ego.
“Ughh.. Stop… It hurts..” Hyeongkon feigned as Mia took him away.
“Stop talking, babe. You got another race and Aria is not happy with you.” Mia told him, “Let’s go.”
