Kibum grew more disgusted with state of the world with every breath he took. It was decaying, sordid. There was no longer an ounce of beauty left. Any that existed had been completely and cruelly devoured or had hidden itself away with good cause. Kibum believed that all beauty, kindness, all good in general was completely gone – until he met Jinki.

Did he feel possessiveness? Annoyance, lust? No, it wasn't like that to him. When Kibum first met Jinki, he was utterly fascinated. The elder was completely cornered yet he was trying to protect a young child from a few of the many thugs that now roamed the broken streets of Seoul. Kibum had helped Jinki – he threatened to call the police who were now utterly ruthless, they shot the criminals first and asked questions after they were attached to an IV. The child had thanked them and ran off, the poor thing. Jinki was in horrible condition, his clothes were torn and bloody, he looked faint and yet, he still smiled at the child and said,

Be careful on your way home.”

Kibum was captivated.

Such kindness, Kibum thought it was extinct. He took Jinki to the hospital and waited until the other was well enough to leave. Kibum didn't know how long he waited, it could have been seconds, it could have been years – day and night were now as seamless as time itself – but when Jinki awoke Kibum asked the other to stay with him and Jinki agreed,

I have no where to go either way.”

Kibum was appalled but he smiled, surely he could spend more time with this intriguing person.

That's alright, I'm lonely any way.”
