A Giant
Brown Stains
“That doesn’t look like HimChan,” I said, adjusting my specs at the sight of a boy with jet-black hair waving his hand in the air at us, or rather YongGuk.
“That’s not HimChan,” YongGuk paraphrased my earlier statement, dropping his hand to his side. “That’s his brother, JunHong.”
“Eo, HimChan-oppa has a little brother?”
“You’re such a pretentious buffoon,” he glared at me but I just smirked.
“YongGukkie-hyung,” JunHong beamed when we got to the table where he had been sitting at.
“JunHongie,” YongGuk held out his hand and then they did this manly handshake and shoulder bump. “Where’s HimChan?”
“Something came up so he had to leave,” JunHong shrugged. Then he turned to look at me so I held out my hand but he didn’t take it, instead he bowed ninety degrees. “Annyeonghaseyo.”
“Eo, annyeonghaseyo,” I nodded awkwardly, noticing how much he towered above me, and then added, “You can call me hyung too, you know.”
The boy gave me a quizzical look and then exchanged glances with YongGuk. “Hyung…?”
“Ignore her, she’s an idiot,” YongGuk smirked at me as he led JunHong back to the table.
“Yaa, that’s not a nice thing to say to someone who just met me!”
“I don’t want him to catch your stupidity,” YongGuk chuckled as he settled down with the confused looking boy who was blinking every few seconds. “So sit as far away from us as you can.”
“I’m not gonna listen to you,” I pouted, taking a seat right next to JunHong and then scooting the chair closer to him. “So, JunHong-ssi, how old are you?”
JunHong averted my gaze as I waited for him to answer. Then he mumbled something under his breath and I had to strain my ears just to grasp what he was saying.
“Wow, you’re quite young,” I said. “But you’re so tall…tell me your secret to –”
“Yaa, stop it,” YongGuk grumbled, bringing his hand up to threaten me. “You’re embarrassing me.”
“You’re embarrassing yourself, YongGuk,” I clicked my tongue and shook my head as I did an aside to JunHong. “Never ever use your masculinity to threaten girls. It’s such a jerky thing to do.”
JunHong stared at me with his mouth wide open, so I closed it for him with a gentle tap on his chin. Then he smiled, blushed, and nodded, gazing at his shoes. Before I could comment on his footwear, something hit my head and it hurt! A lot!
“Yaa, Bang YongGuk!” I frowned at him and then held my fist up. “You took a cheap blow when I wasn’t looking! You coward! Get over here!”
A soft chuckle came from JunHong. Turning to look at him, the first thing I noticed was the cute little dimple in his right cheek and then the subtle rise of warmth I felt in my own cheeks.
I just embarrassed myself by myself.
