'I want you, to like him like him'

Being Appa's Match Maker

o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~ 05 ~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o~o

"Dad, thank you for coming to me. I thought you wouldn't-"

"Don't you dare continue on whatever you were going to say Kim Minyoung. When the day comes, that I put work before my own daughter, it would be the day of the final judgement, you hear me?" Minyoung couldn't keep the happiness inside her. She was so blessed to have a father like hers. In some ways she just couldn't help but meddle in her father´s love life, since all she was really doing is getting the best for him and she knows her Ki-umma is better than the best. No supermodel or chef or even the First Lady can compare to her umma.

Jonghyun's mind however is somewhere else- left on someone else. The older didn't know why, but the cute slender male teacher was all his mind was conversing about. With feline eyes, slender yet curvy in all the right places, Kibum is the only thing he is thinking about. Not to mention that Minyoung loves him as much as she probably loves her own father. Jonghyun shakes his head though, he has to stop thinking.

"Appa..." Minyoung calls, the older not knowing that there is a finger so close to his cheek, so when the elder turns towards his daughter the digit hits him right on the nose.

"Yah! Is that the way you love your parent?!" Jonghyun cries, rubbing his nose making Minyoung laugh and giggle.

"I'm only playing daddy." When the puppy eye trick gets pulled out there really is no way Jonghyun can resist the adorableness of his daughter.

"Appa, what do you think of Ki-umma?" The younger questions as she plays with the lid of the professionally cooked chocolate chip cookies. She grins at the thought that in the near future maybe instead of being given them at school, they could be making them together in their house. That would be fun.

"Kibum... I think...uhh.... I think his loving and kind and- I mean to you guys, his students. What teacher would go out of their way to bake cookies?" The elder cringes at how sickeningly flustered he sounded, not cool at all. He wouldn't lie to his daughter, never. When Minyoung was 5 they made a pact to one another. They made five golden rules, number 3 emphasises that only under certain circumstances will white lies be told. Apart from that the word lying never existed. Jonghyun is a man of his word.

Jonghyun eyes his daughter who was busily grinning to herself. That grin plastered on her face doesn´t look good. Last time the elder has seen it was when he was left getting pelted with tons of round balls inside the ball pit on Minyoung's 4th birthday, by her and her friends.

"Dad, you said it was fine for boys to love boys and girls to love girls and anyone to love anyone they please, right?"

They elder looked like he had just been punched by a 1,000 ton kangaroo. 'What on earth...?' This does not sound good, not good at all.

"Uhh, y-yes... I did baby, why?" Jonghyun's mind is already ringing the alarm and his inner voice is shouting 'Mayday, mayday!'

"I like Ki-umma. I want you to like him too. Like, like him like him." Jonghyun finally lost it as all was heard were tires screeching as his foot made impact to the brake pedal. 'Did she just say what I thought she said?'

"Are you trying to get us killed?! why are you saying things like that!" The brunette yells voice now higher; trust his daughter to be so blunt.

"Appa, who is driving the car?" The younger asked not even looking at him.

"I am!" The girl besides him nodded.

"So, who pressed their foot on the brakes, nearly killing us?"

"I di- yah Kim Minyoung!" Jonghyun always knew his daughter was bright probably the genes from the very intellectual Sooyoung. 'Sooyoung-ah, I promise you, I won't break the promise, I'm a man of my word'.

"I'm just joking dad, chill." Minyoung says. She didn't expect such a bad reaction out of her father. Maybe the plan won't be as easy as she hoped it would be.

'Ah dad, why do you always have to make things hard for me!' The younger internally sigh.

Jonghyun was caught off guard. 'Way to keep your cool, Jonghyun.'  His reaction mimicked those of a kid who got caught doing what they shouldn't be doing. Minyoung was only joking, just joking.

"Minyoung, don't joke about those things it's not funny, honey." He says to his daughter, who only nodded in agreement.

Minyoung couldn't resist the temptation of asking. "Umma is pretty isn't he? He can cook and bake and do other things prettily too." She chimed happily towards her father beaming a dreamy like smile.

The older nodded, it's true. Even though it was the first time seeing the younger blonde, he indeed is a very pretty boy. With long legs and a pretty smile, it is not something he could deny. "He is, darling. He´s a very pretty boy." Jonghyun then adds, making the younger's smile widen at the compliment to his umma.

As the father and daughter sat in front of the TV munching on the delicious homemade cookies Kibum had made, the elder's thoughts couldn't be stopped from imagining the pretty image of the blonde other baking the cookies, maybe in his own kitchen.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Kibum will never admit it. Never out loud, because everything will turn too complicated when in reality nothing needed admiring in the first place. Plus him losing his control is something he hates.

He doesn't like it, this familiar feeling. Not one bit, not when the blonde is fully aware where everything is leading to. He has been there before, not often but still. They would start happy together then somehow everything spirals down into the ground, where his shattered heart lays.

In all honesty the younger couldn't understand it. He was nice, he was pretty handsome. He's pretty much anything you want him to be and more. Yet every time, each and every time someone will always find a reason to hurt him. He doesn't want to go through that anymore. Not when everything's gone back to the way it should have been before, before the heartaches and headaches. He knew it was hard, liking who he liked because he's smart enough to know that he can't really get happy endings when it's two princes' instead of a  prince and the princess.

Kibum, he knew all of this- No. He didn't just know it, he has lived and experienced it and yet, he can't find the reason to stop. The erratic heartbeats, the clammy hands, the reddening cheeks, he couldn't stop none of it. Thinking of the elder was leaving him more confused even if it was his first time meeting him.

Kibum didn't really believe in fairy tale or cliché love stories in the movies. Yeah, they were nice and cute and all the good stuff but when is he ever going to find a prince with a white horse with a handsome face or a handsome business man who he would accidentally spill hot coffee on? Yet here he is telling himself that no, it wasn't love at first sight. That's just stupid and wrong in all sorts of levels. How can you fall in love with someone without properly knowing them?

Life , the blonde concluded.

The way his heart starts beating faster at the thought of the elder, set off alarm bells and warning signs but he couldn't do anything about it. He couldn't stop thinking about the elder. It's scaring him because this is not like him. He knows the feeling of love and this doesn't even compare to love. It's stronger and unhealthier than simple love.

But what made he feel worse is the fact that he doesn't regret falling; tripping for the elder. Maybe because as a teacher with great knowledge, he knows no other man can even come close to Kim Jonghyun.  He's imperfect yet everything he is besides that makes up for everything. The way he cares and love so much for his daughter can only suggest how loving he could be to a lover.

He stops himself from falling-tripping any further. There's simply no future in them. Jonghyun was once a married man with a daughter, his student no less,  Kibum would never want to become a hindrance to the possible happiness Minyoung can finally have. With a dad and mum in her life.

With every thought and emotion Kibum decides to leave everything at the back of his mind. He knew that thinking more about it will just be worsening the situation, rather than helping to find a solution for it.

Kibum doesn't want to think about the confusion because there are more important things to worry and be happy about.

Finally, after years of fighting with the government he got the verdict he had been patiently waiting for: The full of custody for his nephew, the one and only son of his dead sister. He vowed to her even before that horrendous accident that if everything was to every happen to her that Yoogeun will stay with him and only him.

Ever since then the government had wanted to take the child from him telling him that there was never a legalise document showing how his sister indeed entrusted their son to him. Kibum fought, fought so hard, he sent Yoogeun to stay with his parents studying in a nearby school in Busan. Kibum always knew, that he had a very strong case, not only was he the brother but when the opposing side wanted Yoogeun's opinion, the boy did not only ran up to him with open arms, calling for his "Hyung-umma!" he also told the jury how he was ready to stay with the blonde other he refered to as his 'Hyung-umma'. The blonde boy couldn't wait to get Yoogeun tomorrow from his parent’s home so that the boy could finally live here with him in Seoul. He himself had already applied the younger a place in the school. The feline was so sure about gaining custody a suit case that Yoogeun's clothes and necessities have already been pre-packed for convenience.

There were plenty of other important things to worry about so Kibum pushes the whole topic of 'Kim Jonghyun' at the back of his mind until tomorrow. Because no, Kibum isn't stupid to even think that the feeling he is experiencing could even be kept locked inside him forever. In no time feline eyes were closed as slightly parted lips breathe steady breaths.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~

It's been 3 days that the blonde has been off from work, Kibum told Taemin about Yoogeun the same day he was scheduled to pick up his nephew and the younger understood the blond straight away, telling him that everything would okay, to just leave the work up to him and spend some time with the young boy after so many years, and this time it was time to return back to school along with the young 7 year old boy who would be starting his first day at a new school.

"Hyung-umma, do you think the other kids will like me?" Kibum couldn't help but giggle at his nephew, how precious, the blonde would awe in delight, after a year of not being able to see each other, Kibum was ecstatic to know that he finally has the custody over his nephew and now they can live a normal life together, with Kibum acting as Yoogeun's 'hyung-umma', the blonde found the memory of how he had gotten the nickname, hilarious.

When Yoogeun was 3 he'd always found it difficult to tell his mother from his uncle apart, they looked so alike that he had decided, it was better to call his uncle his, 'Hyung-umma', Kibum always treated and acted like a mother in front of the younger, that the nickname had stuck even now that Yoogeun is already 7 years old, but Kibum doesn't mind. He was quite fond of it actually and that might of been the reason why he was always so open being referred to as an 'Umma' at school.

"Of course they would and I'm telling you there would be one person in particular that would welcome you and treat you the nicest," Kibum replied ruffling the hair of the younger after buttoning up all of Yoogeun's dress shirt.

"The kids in school will love to play with you, honey, so don't worry, neh?"

The little boy in front of the other nodded before smiling his usual sunshine like smile, that can't help but melt the elder.

"Now let's go, it's already a little over lunchtime so the children would already be playing outside, you wouldn't want to miss on that, would you?" Kibum asked as he took the little boys hand; walking out of the bedroom and into the living room.

"No I wouldn't." The younger said as he places his arms in one of the sleeves of his coat.

"Good, cause I wouldn't want to either." Kibum chimes smiling his simple smile to the younger. They set off to school with that.

"Taemin-oppa, where is Umma? I haven't seen him since school started, 3 days ago. Is he sick? Did he hurt himself while my daddy couldn’t save him?" The little girl continues to ramble on. The scenarios getting worse and worse making the auburn haired other chuckle. Taemin loves the way Minyoung had grown so attached to his Kibum-hyung. If Taemin didn't know any better he would of thought that the older boy had given birth to the still worried child in front of him. They were so close that the thought didn’t seem completely stupid.

"Hey, Mi calm down. I got a text from your Ki-umma saying that he would be here along with someone he would personally like you to meet." The taller reassured the little girl whose pink lips were currently in a pout.

"Arg, if my dad wasn't such a rabbit then him and umma could of been together by now. Now I have to meet umma's boyfriend and act like everything is absolutely fantabulously wonderful," the younger huff stumbling on the difficult words. Taemin just smiles, he had never seen since the two years he has been around the younger look so pissed.

"Hey Mi, sadly to break it to you, it's not a boyfriend. So Jonghyun-hyung and Kibum-hyung could still get together. That's if your dad makes the move." Taemin said to the younger. Once again Minyoung manages to surprise him. The once pouting pissed girl was now happily smiling and beaming at him.

"Time is all I need, oppa. Trust me, I'll have my dad making the move!" Taemin shivers, never had he seen Minyoung act so...sly and evil... No, Minyoung isn't evil. Taemin calms himself internally as he watch the smirk on younger's face disappear. A bubbly smile replacing it; Minyoung is sweet and innocent.

The chime of the main door resonates and soon enough a tuff of blonde hair could be seen walking inside holding a bag as one hand is around smaller ones.

Minyoung was delighted to see his umma although she was slightly jealous of the boy that had his hands intertwined with the older. That's her Ki-umma!

"Umma!!!" The young girl exclaimed running full speed at the elder who knelt down, opening his arms wide welcoming the excited girl into his embrace.

"I missed you umma, where did you go? Taeminnie-oppa said you wanted me to meet someone." She added as she released her umma from her embrace.

The older chuckles and nods before bringing his hands back around. There is a boy with big chocolate coloured eyes and black ruffled hair that looked slightly confused and scared. "Minyoung-ah this is Ki-umma's nephew, Park Yoogeun. He is the son of my sister who unfortunately died along with Yoogeun-ah's father when he was only 3. He´s very shy but very funny and cute. He´s only a few months older than you... so can I leave Yoogeun in your care, darling?" The elder explained caressing the small shoulders of the boy beside him as he smiles towards the girl who kept nodding in eager agreement in front of him.

"Of course umma I will take care of my big brother, come on oppa." Minyoung chimed, feeling better at the fact that the boy she was jealous of wasn't of any harm. Minyoung always wished for a big brother and her Ki-umma granted that wish. 'Dad, stop this and just fall in love already; everything is falling into place!' The younger thought as she pulled her new brother into the playground.

As the two children made their way out to the playground, Kibum was left stunned and bewildered. "Did Minyoung just call Yoogeun, her... her brother?" He asks Taemin who only nodded smiling at the other.

"Isn't that good? Only thing you need to do now is to get Jonghyun-hyung to propose to you and then you've already earned yourself a family." The auburn other joked, blonde throwing a deathly glare towards him.

"What do you mean propose, I hardly know the guy. I don't even like him!" the teacher defended himself as he started to pick up toys that clattered the ground. He is purposely avoiding the younger's eyes who always managed to see right through him.

"I'll give it to you hyung, you might not know Jonghyun-hyung but you can't deny the fact that when you did meet him yesterday he already had you 'tripping' over him, right?" The younger stated eyebrows dancing making the irritated elder throw a stuffed toy toward his direction. "Will you be quite and start cleaning?!" The elder exclaims as he placed all the toys in their rightful places.

"Okay, okay, deny as much as you want but hey as the old folk says 'The truth will set you free'." As much as Kibum wants to throw another pillow towards the younger's direction the view he witnesses pulls the frustration and anger right from the pits his stomach. Minyoung and Yoogeun are sat down in the sand pit enjoying each other's company, laughing and exchanging smiles. The elder smiles lovingly at the two most important people in his life right now, Minyoung was making his nephew, who never seemed to laugh or smile, finally smile. It's been years since his seen those lips tugged towards his ears. Kibum thanks and is forever thankful to the little girl he liked to call his 'baby'.

A family, Kibum never imagined that he'd be blessed with one. Yet there they are happily smiling at one another as they played with the sand, making sandcastles. That's his family, Minyoung and Yoogeun, is his family.

After tidying up the place, Kibum keeps his place near the widow. Crossing his arms, he sat in the small space of the big windowsill to admiring the two children in front of him.

When lunch time was over, it wasn't difficult to see the strong bond that had already been created between Minyoung and Yoogeun. Kibum was happy to know that his predictions were true: Minyoung will never let him down. All throughout the activities the two will stay close by each other whispering, laughing. Kibum loved every minute witnessing it.

Not long after Kibum hears the sound of the bell resonate around the class room indicating that it was finally time to go home. He instructed Minyoung and Yoogeun to play inside while he sent the other children home safely knowing that Minho will come a little late like he always would since his school doesn't finish for another ten minutes.

With everybody gone and toys packed away Kibum was finally allowed to go back to the two kids he had left to play on their own.

As he made his way inside he stopped as he heard the conversation the two 7 year olds were engaged in.

"Minyoung, how come your dad isn't here yet?" The boy asks as he builds the Lego house he was instructed to build by the little girl.

"I don't like it, when my dad picks me up." she says as she carried on brushing the long blonde hair of the doll in her hands.

"Why?" The elder asks, facing the girl with big curious eyes.

"Because I don't like it when girls would flirt with my daddy." Minyoung explains to the boy who nods in what seemed like agreement.

"I don't like it either, when guys would do that to my hyung-umma. Can't blame them though, hyung-umma is too pretty for his own good." Yoogeun’s chuckle makes Minyoung chuckle. The laugh seems to travel all the way to Kibum who is still hidden behind the door.

"Oppa, do you think it's okay for boys to like boys and girls to like other girls?" The young 7 year old asks, looking up towards the other who nodded.

"Hyung-umma told me that it's okay to like whoever as long as you love them with all of your heart, then it's okay. But he also warned me, he said that some people will always find the reason to make people like them unhappy and cry, so he told me to never be nasty to people who like the same gender because it’s not their fault that they like who they like, right?" The boy rambles on, smiling to the younger girl who quickly enveloped him into a hug.

"Oppa, that was so cool! You sounded just like my dad!" The girl exclaims in happiness making the elder chuckle at her cuteness and dimpled cheeks.

"Why do you ask, Minyoung-ah?"

The younger smiles, "Because we're going to become like real brothers and sisters soon. My dad and Ki-umma can marry and then we can all live happy ever after! We can move to New York or Canada." Minyoung explains in bighand gestures that are too big for her little body, grining from ear to ear.

"That's so cool, so is my hyung-umma and your dad like each other then?" Yoogeun asks as he held out his small hand crossing his middle finger around his index finger tightly making Minyoung exclaim.

"Not yet but they will be though. Oppa, trust me I've got it all planned." Minyoung says as she leans over to whisper to the elder her sly yet fool-proof plan. Kibum whose face already resembled into a tomato could only sigh and face-palm his forehead. 'Aigoo, Minyoung-ah what are you saying? Your dad and I? that's impossible.' The blonde thought.

"Kibum-hyung?" The hushed tone sending Kibum 2 feet above ground. Shocked by the voice of the intruder.

"What are you doing there, hyung?" Minho asks stepping inside passing the blonde.

Kibum pats the surface of his clothed chest. "Can you please never do that again or I might just die early because of heart attack." Kibum said as he stepped inside the classroom following Minho. They gain the attention of the two children sitting on the ground playing.

"I'm sorry but it was kinda funny how you reacted though, ‘ahh’; such a girl." Minho chuckled earning a glare from the elder.

"Uncle Minho ~!" The little girl cries, running over to the open embrace of the dark haired other.

"I want you to meet someone." She then adds as she lets go of her uncle. She takes Yooguen's small hands into her even smaller ones.

"Uncle, meet my new big brother Yoogeun oppa, Ki-umma's nephew." The girl says with a grin as she introduces the two males to together. The feline face-palm his forehead again at the sound of the very affectionate and excited 'big brother' bit.

Minho could only smile, he had already heard from Taemin about the little girls' plans. And in his honest view, he thinks Kibum would be perfect for his hyung: He’s pretty, he can cook as well as already accumulated a big part of Minyoung's heart, what more could he asked for?

"Hello, Yoogeun-ah. My name is Choi Minho. I'm Minyoung's handsome uncle." The dark haired elder says as he crouched. He had a friendly grin as he waves at the younger boy who returned his smile.

"Nice to meet you hyung." The younger boy replies smiling up at the elder.

"Uncle, can Yooguen oppa come around our house for dinner? I really want to show him my toys that appa brought me. Please pretty please?" The younger girl pleads with two hands clasped around each other, pink lips jutted out into a pleading pout. There was no use fighting it and so Minho nodded in his defeat.

"Sure, I think your appa would want to meet your new friend too, plus I heard Sunhye noona is making fried chicken. But first I think Yoogeun needs to ask his own uncle first." The taller boy explains as he stood up bringing the little girl along with him who showered him with kisses.

"Thank you, thank you oppa, I love you!"

Kibum could only smile towards the little boy whose eyes were already pleading him, asking if he could go. Kibum loves the boy too much to say no. "You can go Yoogeun, have fun okay."

Yoogeun stared at him. "Aren't you going too, hyung- umma?" The little boy asks, making Kibum chuckle.

"Of course not, silly." The comment makes the younger boy frown.

"Then I won't go. I want hyung-umma to come with me." The other says crossed arms and pouting.

"Umma can come too, can't he uncle?" Minyoung asks Minho who shrugged.

"If he wants to then he is more than welcome."

"Yay!" The two younger exclaim in unison. Kibum internally sighed. That means the torture of having to see Jonghyun was truly inescapable.

"Let's get going then." The taller of the four exclaimed.
