Foreword
"What do you think they will tell us?"
Lee Taemin was practically skipping next to his best friend Choi Minho. The latter smiled when he saw the youngster so happy. Ever since the two had meet a year ago, they had some kind of connection. Nobody could really explain it, but it was obvious to everyone.
"I don't know, Tae. I wouldn't be too happy about something like this. It's not normal they gather all their trainees to say something." He said and Taemin stopped to look at him.
"Aaah, Minho~! Don't be so negative all the time. Cheer up, will you?" He said and he pouted a little. Although Minho was older than him, Taemin was the only one who could drop the formalities around him and not call him "hyung". He only did it when he liked to.
Minho chuckled and ruffled through Taemin's hair. *Aigoo... He's so cute.* He thought and they walked on.
"Yah! Minho! Wait for me!" A familiar voice came from the other side of the hall and the two boys turned around to see a dino-looking boy running towards them with two other boys behind him.
"Hi, Jonghyun-hyung. Done with singing practice?" Minho asked and Jonghyun nodded smiling.
The five boys walked after each other into the big hall and looked around. All the trainees were gathered and it was really crowded. Luckily there were still five chairs free at the back of the hall. Quickly the five boys sat down and waited for everyone to sit down too.
After fifteen minutes everyone sat down and Lee Soo Man came up. Everybody clapped and the man on stage smiled.
"Thank you, everyone. Welcome to this special meeting of SM Entertainment. I have good news and bad news for some of you." He began and it became deadly quiet in the hall. The five boys looked at each other surprised. "Let me begin with the good news. Some of you will be debuting this year or next year. There are some promising youngsters amongst you and we have all the faith you will become famous in no time."
Everybody cheered and looked genuinely happy. It wasn't every year some people could debut and some of the trainees here had already been training for more than four years. The five boys also looked at each other with twinkles in their eyes.
"You think we're one of them?" Kibum asked at Onew, the oldest one of them. The latter smiled and nodded enthusiastically. Kibum squealed and Jonghyun laughed because of his cuteness.
"Easy, everyone. Now the bad news. Unfortunately the government wants us to introduce a new rule that will be very disadvantaged for some of you. From this moment on you'll have to be at least sixteen years old to be a trainee at SM Entertainment. All the boys and girls that are now trainee here, but are not sixteen will be forced to leave. I'm sorry." He bowed and left the stage.
It had become deadly quiet in the hall and nobody really knew how to react to this news. In the back of the hall four boys were staring to one younger one in their midst.
Taemin tried to progress the news he had just heard. *I'm not sixteen. This means...* Then it hit him. *I have to leave. I have to leave my friends, my dream.*
"Taemin...?" Minho carefully began, but the youngster didn't react. He stood up and ran out of the hall, the tears streaming down his face.
This was not what he had expected when he had walked in here.
