Students have or are in the process of learning the Korean

alphabet fluently. At this point, it's time to begin learning

simple verbs to start the conversation process.

HOLIDAY ALERT~

April 5th was known as Arbor Day in Korea, but has been taken down as a holiday.

During the Korean war, devastation and destruction of the forests, the Korean government designated this holiday for

citizens to gather and plant trees and other types of greenery.

SIMPLE VERBS - Used in everyday Korean~

TO HAVE/TO NOT HAVE

있어/없어

(Iss-uh/ubs-uh)

Part 1

있어

[Iss-eo]

[To have/To Exist]

있어요:        VS        있어:

[iss-uh-yo]                                                                  [it-da]

This is the 'to be' or 'to exist response in 존대말 and 반말.

You put this as the verb of a sentence (meaning the end of abasic Korean sentence!)

* Whats the difference?

The meaning is the same however, you use both at different times.

있어요 is the formal form of 있다 (To have/To exist) and 있어is the informal form of 있다 (To have/To exist)

When wanting to show someone you have something, both phrases are okay to use depending on formality.

These phrases are also convenient for when you want to ask someone if they have something.

PART 2

없어

[Eops-eo]

[To not have/To not Exist]

없어   VS   없어요

[eop-seo]                                                  [eop-seo-yo]

To not have/To Exist                    vs               To not Have/To Not Exist

This is the 'to be' or 'to exist response in 존대말 and 반말.

You put this as the verb of a sentence (meaning the end of abasic Korean sentence!)

* Whats the difference?

The meaning is the same however, you use both at different times.

없어요 is the formal form of 없다 (To not have/To not exist) and 없어is the informal form of 없다 (To not have/To not exist)

When wanting to show someone you  don't have something, both phrases are okay to use depending on formality.

These phrases are also convenient for when you want to ask someone if they have something.

PART 3

Examples

It's hard when you first start out to differentiate them both, however, when you become more experienced, 누워서 떡먹기죠 or it's a piece of cake!

Part 2
