Our Game

“You had to pick politician as a job didn’t you.” Kyuhyun scolded Changmin while tutting with his tongue behind his top row of teeth.  As a result of the burning sun, the two were standing under a shade cloth in front of a café.

“It’s just as ridiculous as saying that you’re a teacher!” Changmin argued back.  “It’s your fault that I had to come up with a ridiculous job in a field I would never consider if I was human.”

“Not true, I did not ask you to come after me!”

“You shouldn’t have come here in the first place!” Suddenly the silence in the backdrop stopped. Someone cleared their throat. Kyuhyun grabbed Changmin by the arm and pulled him away to another spot. They had to dash due to the heat the moment they were exposed. When they got there, Kyuhyun turned to face his friend, his eyes darker, almost black.
“I should have known you wouldn’t understand what it’s like to be attracted to someone! All your relationships have been based on the intellect of the other partner! Do you prefer to be mentally connected to someone through facts rather than getting to know their heart?!”

Changmin returned the expression with his own dark aura. “Love is not worth the effort humans make it to be. We marry only to build alliances within the clans, not to have an emotional bond with them!”

“And that’s wrong, why do you think I prefer being with her than any of our own kind?!” The tension rose to make Changmin freeze. Kyuhyun’s eyes were almost blazing with a dark fire.
“We’re so twisted in keeping regiment, in just staying alive that we’ve become cold emotionless monsters. We may not have souls but that doesn’t mean we don’t lose our feelings!”

They both looked away from each other, unable to talk at the moment. “Why are we friends then?”

“Is it because we both have the same level of intellect?” Changmin almost winced at Kyuhyun’s cold remark. He shook his head.
“No, I don’t know how to put it, but somehow we can understand each other. Maybe it’s because we’re both born around the same time.”

That’s what it was. The two had become members around the same time; memories of their past lives were long gone along with their human selves. Kyuhyun agreed but with difficulty.

“I know we aren’t human anymore… But don’t you miss being one sometimes? Being able to breathe, eat anything than just blood, loving and actually experiencing it in its fullness.”

“I don’t,” Changmin disagreed. “Humanity makes one and unable to reach their full potential. What do we do with other drinks apart from blood? It just contaminates us!”

Kyuhyun knew he was referring to the tea before. “It would have been rude to refuse!”

“And now you’re concerned about being polite?!” He hit his forehead with a fist; the force would have bruised a human’s head. “See what she’s doing to you?!”

“She’s doing nothing,” Kyuhyun adjusted his tie. “She’s my friend and that’s all I wish for.”

“Ha, for now you mean?” Things were heating up again. Without speaking, just a glare Kyuhyun shoved Changmin forward. Rays of sun touched his exposed skin with a sizzle like food on a barbeque.
“Aish,” Changmin hissed putting his hands in his pockets.

“Let’s go someplace else.” Kyuhyun started to walk briskly, Changmin had no choice but to go with him.

~~~
They went to a fancy block of apartments. Kyuhyun waved a hand over the key pad and the gadget beeped letting them in. Up the stairs they flew, checking that nobody would see them. The two went to the top floor and into a room nearest the fire exit they had just come up.
Inside the apartment was dark; the windows had thick blinds over them, shut to keep the smallest traces of sunshine out. The furniture reflected Kyuhyun’s personal tastes and preferences, all being made of a beech polished wood with dark blue for the couches and rug.
“Have a seat,” Kyuhyun coldly pointed to a couch. Changmin sat down. He then went into the kitchen to the fridge. “Which do you want, type A or B?”
“Don’t you have AB?”
‘It’s hard to get any at the moment.” Kyuhyun closed the fridge with a sigh. “Do you still want any?”
“I’m alright; the cravings appear to be gone.” Changmin was joined with his friend in the living quarters. “Do you use it much?” He indicated the large flat screen television hanging on the wall.
“Only to entertain which doesn’t happen much,” Kyuhyun laughed.
“That person, Joohyun,” he tried not to gag before continuing. “Kyuhyun, what do you want from her?”
“To be with her,” Kyuhyun brightened up at the mention of Joohyun. “For now and for all of eternity, that is my ultimate wish.”
He appeared to have forgotten an important factor. “And she’s a person,” Changmin added. “The only way to make her stay with you is if…” His mouth opened and then changed to show his disbelief. “You want to convert her don’t you?”
“Yes but not like how you were thinking.” To this Changmin folded his arms, curious as to what Kyuhyun meant. “I will make her fall for me; she will have every reason to be with me. And then one day, the night of our honeymoon… I will mate with her and in the process she’ll become one of us. Oh Changmin my blood rises in temperature when I think of that moment.”
“Why wait til then?” The effervescence dropped. “Why not seduce her after you’ve spent some time with her; isn’t that normally what humans do?”
“Your lustful and ed suggestion really disgusts me.” Kyuhyun’s nose scrunched up, “I’m a gentleman thank you very much.”
‘Alright, it was just a thought,” being able to tease his friend brought a rather ruthless pleasure to him, one he would only get from such means. He smirked while Kyuhyun tried not to squirm.
“Go away, just go back to Yunho.”
“Sorry but hyung’s still away at the board meeting. I wonder why Kangta sent him to represent us in front of all those mythical poof heads.”
“It’s probably because his special ability happens to be compassion.” Even Kyuhyun wasn’t sure, “that’s a possibility.”
“Hmm,” Changmin agreed. This caused him to think of another question. “And what’s the possibility that I may be able to change your mind about her?”
“Zero,” a very distinct answer, Kyuhyun showed determination, “I’m not going to change her mind about her; not now and not in the future.”
If you're getting sick of Changmin and Kyuhyun's bickering then good news, next chapter will have Seohyun again XD. I'm not entirely sure when or if I'll put Yunho in at some point but other artists will appear in time. Thank you all for reading and for voting,  I didn't expect it so thanks.
Chapter 26: *gore-loving side is activated*
Well, at least Kyuhyun won't have to suffer now that he's dead.
;~; TT.TT
But at least the council didn't kill him or anything, which is always good. ^^b
Chapter 25: "Then it was still, eyes glazed over already." --> does it sound a little weird to you?
akdgshlkafsahgalkgjd Kyuhyuuuuun ;A;
"Grabbing the door he pulled hard." --> I think it's missing something. A comma or a pronoun perhaps?
"There was a tearing as the door's hinges broke, splintering at the point of impact." --> It might have been better if you'd used a differend sound than "tearing" because that sounds off. Tearing seems to be more of for objects like paper or sheets of metal, things that are more flat and thin. :) But then again, they don't have mundane strength, so maybe they CAN tear wooden doors. o.O
Hmm... I suggest mind your commas? But other than these, it was a great chapter. Sad, but good. :) Kyuhyun's choice was a sad one. :'( But good job. :D
