Mother
Don't Forget Me„What is his name?” Kyuhyun asked, looking at the screen of his computer. His fingers quickly run across the keyboard.
“Kim Ryeowook,” Yesung answers, trying to find something on the screen too.
“There are two dozens men with this name,” Kyuhyun grumbles.
Yesung sighs. He knows it’s true.
“Try to find missing children in the last few years,” Yesung asks.
Kyuhyun just nods, concentrating on his work again. Yesung smiles. It’s a nice advantage to have friends in all branches. Kyuhyun is the detective, so he can find all information Yesung needs. And Yesung is the lawyer, so it isn’t illegal, is it?
He promised Ryeowook he will find his mother. After their last conversation he can’t do anything else.
He pours a pudding into a glass bowl, adding fruit and cream. He turns back to Wookie, putting hot dessert in front of him. He takes one more bowl for himself and he sits on the chair opposite the boy.
Ryeowook doesn’t say anything, just staring at the bowl. He smells a scent of strawberries and mandarins. He closes his eyes. He likes this smell. It’s pleasant. And it’s familiar. So familiar. He knows it. Another memory finds him again. He can hear his own cheerful smile. Somebody calls him, he loves that voice. The person smiles. He knows this smile – it’s so similar to his own one. He can see big wooden table and the bowl on it...
“What happened?” Yesung asks when he notices Wookie’s glassy look.
Wookie swallows and he just whispers: “My mummy used to cook it too...”
Yesung still feels a bit dizzy. He really hasn’t expected Ryeowook would mention his past. He hasn’t even expected he would remember it. That simple sentence Ryeowook said surprised him and at the same time scared him. Because it was the beginning of Wookie’s monologue. It was the first time Ryeowook spoke and Yesung just listened. He finally found out what happened to him. Ryeowook told him everything.
For a few seconds he thinks it would be better, if he didn’t know it, but then he shakes his head, sending these thoughts away. He has to know it although it’s terrible. He can understand him know better. And he can help him.
“Yesung?” Kyuhyun interrupts a stream of his thoughts. Yesung blinks, coming back to the present. He looks at the screen where he can see a photo. It’s a woman. No doubts it’s Wookie’s mother. He looks exactly like her. Yesung reads information, finding out her name and address. She really has a child. His name is Ryeowook. He continues with reading until...
“She’s dead,” he sighs when he finds a date of death. It has been five years. Yesung closes his eyes. This is a thing he didn’t want to find.
“He is so young and he suffered so much,” Kyu whispers. Yesung doesn’t understand what he is talking about, but then he finds a date of birth of her son. He freezes. That boy is younger than he expected. He’s just fifteen. And he was kidnapped when he was seven. He clenches his fists, biting his lip.
“Damn,” he curses. He was so young...
“The life is , you can’t change it,” Kyuhyun says quietly, turning off the computer.
Yesung doesn’t say anything. He doesn’t know what he could say anyway.

„What have you found out?” Siwon asks at the moment Yesung comes to the office. He doesn’t like that glowering look. “It seems I can’t expect good news.”
Yesung just shakes his head, sitting down on the leather armchair. He lean his elbows on the table. He takes a breath and his eyes find Siwon, who is silently waiting for Yesung’s words.
“He is fifteen, Siwon. He is a child. Tell me, where is any justice? Where?!” he hits the table with his fist.
Siwon frowns. He has never seen Yesung so furious for somebody he almost doesn’t know. That boy really found a place in Yesung’s heart...maybe deeper than he thought.
“He has nobody to take care of him. Nobody. His mother is dead, he didn’t have a father. No known relatives. He is alone,” Yesung continues angrily. He just wants to kill that beast, which hurt his little Wookie so much.
„Calm down, Yesung. Your anger won’t help anyone. Especially that boy,” Siwon remarks.
“You’re right,” Yesung sighs with apologetic look. “I am sorry. I shout at you as it would be your blame.”
“It’s okay,” Siwon smiles.
Yesung closes his eyes. The worst thing is that he will have to tell the boy the truth. He doesn’t want to do it. He doesn’t want to hurt him.
“Haven’t he suffered enough...?”

Streets are lit by a gold light of streetlamps. Yesung leaves the building, heading to his car. He stayed longer than he planned. He just hopes Wookie is alright. He gets in the car and he starts it.
He can’t avoid unpleasant thoughts. What will he do? Those information he found out today... His stomach is clutched every time he just imagines-...
“!” he growls, slamming on the brakes. He should focus on the road. He almost didn’t notice a red color on the lights.
He just curses again, looking around. Streets are empty. Why should he wait for a green color? He’s already late.
He parks in front of his house and he almost runs to the door. He quickly unlocks the door, coming inside. Immediately he notices the light from the living room. Wookie is waiting for him again.
He looks at his watches. It’s nearly eleven o’clock. He puts off his shoes and he heads to the living room. His eyes instantly find the boy, who is curled up in the ball on the couch. A gentle smile appears on his lips. He comes to the sleeping boy, kneeling in front of him. He can’t stop himself, he has to raise his hand and softly the boy’s cheek. Ryeowook shivers but he doesn’t wake up.
He yawns quietly. It’s really late, he should go to bed too. He hesitates for a second if he should wake him up but finally he decides not to do it. He can’t – Wookie is too sweet. He gets up and then he picks him very carefully up in his arms. He notices the teddy bear on the couch and he decides to come back for him later. Wookie just can’t sleep without his bear.
He makes a turn, heading to the hall. Ryeowook mumbles something in his sleep, he leans his head against Yesung’s chest and quietly sighs. Yesung turns off the light before leaving the room. He goes upstairs and he opens the door of Wookie’s room. Just a few steps to the bed and he could slowly put Ryeowook on the bed. He disappears for a minute and then he comes back with the stuffed toy. He puts the teddy bear next to boy’s head and he covers them with the blanket.
For a while he just stands without any motion, looking at Wookie’s face, which is lit just by soft lights from the street. Finally he leans over, removing hair from Wookie’s forehead. And after that he gives him a tender kiss on that soft place. He can smell the scent of Wookie’s hair. He stays in this position for a few second and then he gets up.
“Goodnight,” he whispers before leaving the room.
