CHARACTERS:

Krystal~

The lead Female character in this story. At the tender age of 15, Krystal lost her father to debt collectors from 17 years ago. After the incident Krystal and her mother were freed from debt but by then Krystal has lost the motivation to chase down her dream. Outgoing by nature, but trapped from the stress of family life and her rare disease, Krystal is an example of an unfortunate teenager who just wants to live a normal life.

Kai~

The Lead Male character. Since young he has been well raised and nurtured by his overly wealthy parents. Have been brought up in such a strict environment, he struggles to understand others around him slowly building himself a unfiail image. Hard to understand and hard to relate to, he makes it a challenge for others to enter his personal worries. Kai is a perfect example of a shell-cold but core-warm teenager who is finding the warmth he needs.

Chapter 1~The Switch

||17 Years ago…

-- Hong Baek Hospital --

Nurse:

Congratulations Mrs and Mr Jung! You’ve given birth to a healthy baby boy!

Mrs Jung:

*holds baby* Agioo, look at him. Such a handsome face! He WOULD have had a bright and successful future if it wasn’t for SOMEONE.

Mr Jung: 

I know! I Know! It’s my entire fault! Just stop mentioning about it already.

Mrs Jung:

How could I stop mentioning about it? You and all your gambling obsessions got us into debt! A debt that we will never be able to pay back! A debt that we will always have to run away from! A debt that will ruin our son’s life!

Mr Jung:

I know that I did wrong. But don’t worry, I will help him find a better life. A life full of fortune and security. I’ll make sure he will never get harmed because of my wrong doings.

Mrs Jung:

And just how are you going to do that? We’re never going to earn enough money to pay off the debt if we’re going to work as cleaners at Kirin Arts High school forever!

Mr Jung:

We don’t have to…we just have to find the right people to take care of him, until the day he turns 17, until he is able to protect himself from all the debt collectors.

Mrs Jung:

And who would that be….? Do I know them? And will…will they accept him? *Tears running down her cheeks*

Mr Jung:

Don’t worry about it that man will take care of our son like his own. That man…will accept him.||

||-- Meanwhile in another room –

*Doctors rushing in*

Mr Park:

*Grabs one of the doctors* what’s wrong? Is my wife ok? More importantly is…is the child…ok?

Doctor:

Don’t worry too much, your wife is having difficulties during labour probably because it’s her first child.

Mr Park:

Probably? Then what’s the worst scenario if it isn’t because it’s her first child?

Doctor:

The worst scenario would be that the child has inherited an illness from their parents causing their systems to eventually shut down during birth known as still birth.

Mr Park:

How… how about if I had a severe heart disease? Will my child have chances of inheriting it as well?

Doctor:

What kind of heart disease?

Mr Park:

Coronary Artery Disease.

[Note: Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is a real disease that causes problems with the major blood vessels which delivers blood to the heart muscle. If the vessels are small or blocked then the blood will have difficulties flowing through and since less blood is available for the heart muscle, the muscle will weaken which will make the heart weaker, sicker and may eventually die/ stop working if the blood flow suddenly stops. This disease may cause fainting, extreme pain to the heart and tiredness to its victim, therefore people who have this disease shouldn’t/cannot do any activity which causes the heart to over work. If that’s the case it’s a high possibility that your child has inherited your gene and developed the disease. We will do whatever we can to help your child. *Rushes into the labour room*

Mr Park:

*Whispers* If the child also has the disease, who will be able to help me takeover Kirin Arts High school in the future?...

Man in the distance:

MR PARKSHII! MR PARKSHII! *Panting while running towards Mr Park*.

Mr Park:

*Looks up* huh? Mr Jung? What are you doing here? *Looks around* where’s your wife?

*Doors open and doctors walk out* *Mr Park and Mr Jung turns around*
