Prologue

"Quickly, please! Help him..."

Beep. Beep. Beep.

"Soohyun hyung! Please... Be strong, okay?" Dongho sobbed, barely trying to conceal the tears that were falling, His hand clutched Soohyun's larger one tighting, squeezing it as if he would never let go. "I'm sorry, I'm really sorry! Just...Please, I can't forgive myself..."

"He only has a fifty-fifty percent chance of survival, it all depends on his will to live..."

Beep. Beep. Beep.

Don't cry... Soohyun's lips formed the words, a weak smile beneath the oxygen mask covering his nose and mouth, the clear plastic misting up with each breath. It's not your fault. With much effort, he lifted his other hand -- the one without a drip attached to it -- using his thumb to gently rub away the streaks of tears running down Dongho's face. His light touches only made the younger cry even harder.

"Hyung... Please..." Dongho made a half-hearted attempt to force his tears back, but they just continued their way down his cheeks, a seemingly never-ending river.

"I... I shouldn't have argued with him that night... It's all my fault this is happening..."

Beep, beep, beep.

Soohyun's chest rose and fell in rhythm with his breathing, as he strained himself, letting his long fingers travel over each contour of Dongho's face. "Hyung...?" The long fingers caressed Dongho's skin, tracing the outline of each feature, memorising it.

Beepbeepbeepbeepbeep

"Hyung, what's wrong?" Dongho exclaimed, worried, as the sounds of the machines hooked up to Soohyun increased in speed. "What... What's happening?"

Soohyun just smiled back, a sad smile. A weak smile. Yet, a loving smile.

Beep... Beep... Beep...

Dongho... I love you... Just as suddenly, Soohyun's hand dropped back onto the bed, even as his eyes slowly drifted close.

"Hyung...?" he shook Soohyun, becoming more frantic when the older man didn't stir. "Hyung! This... This isn't funny! Please, wake up!" Soohyun's skin was still warm, but when Dongho pressed his ear against his chest, he didn't hear that familiar heartbeat. "Please... Don't play this kind of joke on me, wake up!"

Beep...

"I'm sorry. He... He's gone..."
