Snowflakes - Epilogue
One more day“You know, I’ve read them all. Mum gave them to me, she said you wrote them for me...”, Youngjae said.
“All of your letters, all of your notes...The diary”. Youngjae looked down.
His breath turned white in front of his face. A snowflake fell into his hand and melted.
Youngjae closed his eyes and it was as if Daehyun was standing next to him. He could almost hear his voice.
Daehyun was standing close to Youngjae and looked at Youngjae’s hand with the vanishing snowflakes.
“Where do they go?”, he asked. Youngjae looked up.
“They vanish. They die in your hands. Where do they go to?”, Daehyun asked. Youngjae shook his head.
“They don’t die....Snowflakes don’t feel pain, they don’t suffer”, Youngjae said quietly.
“Right now, snowflakes are dancing in front of my eyes. My hands are cold, my fingers are red, but I won’t go back.
I will stay with you for the whole day. It’s Christmas Eve, you can’t be alone on such a day.
I brought you a little gift, I hope you will like it. I hope to see you smile, because I really love your smile, it makes me happy”.
He crouched down and lit a candle in front of the grey polished marble stone.
“You know, right now there are snowflakes all around you, they won’t melt away in your hands anymore”, Youngjae whispered.
He lay a little packet onto the white snow.
“Merry Christmas, Daehyun. I love you”.
I know this is very short for an epilogue, but I thought I had to mention that Youngjae also keeps his promise for Daehyun.
Thank you for reading to the end <3
