"It takes her forever to arrive..."
You think as you stand in the parking lot near to the beach. No one is around; no cars, no people, no life on the coast, but it's usual at this hour and in this very spot. This beach is nearly abandoned and the weather is already cold to enjoy the sea. Crossing your arms, chilling a bite you bit your lower lip. There she goes, being late again and you feel uncomfortable for standing all alone in the middle of nowhere.
A warm touch on your face blocking your sight. You put your hands on the strangers' and your heart beats faster.
It's her, finally.
You turn around and smile, she has a smirk on her face. You won't give in that easily...
"You are ummm... late?"
"Sorry, we had to practice for hours. I couldn't make it sooner."
Her smirk is still on her face but when you turn around it disappears and she hurries after you.
"Hey... Are you mad?"
"No, I just missed this..."
You said as you took off your flip flops and slowly slide your feet into the sand. It feels good; not warm, not cold, exactly the temperature that lets you walk in it without getting cold or burning your skin. She joins you after she got out from her sneakers. You walk side by side silently and somehow shyly. No speaking, no glancing, no holding hands, nothing that shows a minimal sight of being more than friends.
"Maybe it's because we haven't seen each other for a while..."
You murmur and she looks at you with questioning eyes.
"Yeah... We must be like that because of separation. I don't even know how to treat her..."
You try to smile.
"Never mind... Let us sit down for a bit, okay?"
She nods and you two sit down in the sand, near to the other but there is not a single touch.
She gets nearer to you. Shoulders touches.
She slides her hand on your. Hands touches.
You tilt your head and rest it on her shoulder while you both look at the sea without a word.
Some minutes passes and you still don't speak, just holding each other's hands and resting your head on her. She bents down to check on you but you are already asleep so she smiles and lifts her head up looking back at the sea.
"You know... I missed you..."
She whispers and kisses your head.
