Jessica’s POV

I quietly giggled as I sneaked into Dara’s house with her birthday present. My dad was holding a cake while I held my mum’s hand. We were all tip-toeing into her house to give her a surprise birthday party…she was turning 10 today…

As we set the table- making sure we were quiet, I couldn’t help but feel proud that we’d been friends for this long! I placed my present next to the cake and beamed at the scene as my mum and dad lit the cake. Suddenly, we heard glass shattering on the floor! My parents and I hurried upstairs to see a beer bottle broken into pieces outside Dara’s room! My dad barged in as my mum tried to hold me back from doing the same. I could hear her heartbreaking sobs and her dad was constantly swearing, his voice sounded slurred…Out of no where, I heard bones colliding with each other! My dad was saying something along the lines of ‘You son of a- How can you do this to your own child?!’ I couldn’t take it anymore and rushed inside her room. My eyes widened at the sight! My dad was on top of Dara’s dad, punching the life out of him, while Dara, my best friend, was sobbing in the corner- her hands crossed over her chest and her shirt…ripped?! I gasped and immediately ran up to her!

“Let go of me!! Go away!!” She screamed as soon as I touched her

“Dara…it’s me…” I whispered, she instantly calmed down, hugging me back and crying harder

It was that day that I decided to protect her…to let her be happy…to be the best friend she deserves…

I pushed the swing higher and sighed.

“She deserves happiness…” I mumbled

“Who?”

I gasped and nearly fell out of the swing!!

“Holy mother of-!!” I held onto my chest

“Hehe…annyeong!” He waved

“Annyeong?! Is that all you can say?! I nearly died!! And it would be all your fault, Kim Jaejoong!” I pointed accusingly as I got a better grip of the swing

“At least you’re speaking to me now…” He muttered under his breath

“What are you doing here, anyway?” I asked, ignoring his statement

“Why? Am I not allowed to be here? Do you own this park?”

“No…but I’d like to…Such a calm place….” I sighed as he sat on the other swing

“Isn’t it just?”

We stayed silent for a few minutes…it wasn’t awkward…it was more…comfortable…

“Jaejoong-ah…”

“Hm?”

“You know you said you liked someone?”

“Y-yeah…” He stuttered

“Do youreally like her?”

“I think so…”

We kept quiet again…

“How do you…know?”

“There are many reasons…”

“Like…?”

“Like…when she hangs out with all those boys she knows…I get so jealous I want to be a football player…”

“…A football player?”

“Uh-huh! So I can get them to be goalie and purposely kick the ball at their area!”

I laughed at the hilarious yet clever idea.

So many guys…?

Dara doesn’t hang out with-

Oh yeah.

Jay oppa, that Jiyong and the Seungri guy…

“And?” I asked

“And…when she get sad…or upset…I feel even more sad…I can’t stand seeing tears in her beautiful eyes…”

I nodded, remembering that time when she came out crying…his concerned face is still fresh in my mind…

“When she does dorky things…I can’t help but chuckle or let out a laugh…when she walks into a room, I can’t help but look at her magnificent beauty…” 

Magnificent beauty…definitely Dara.

He really likes her, huh?

Scratch that! He loves her!

I smiled, even though my heart was aching inside…

She deserves someone that loves her so much…

I stood up as he stared at me, confused.

“Get up, Kim Jaejoong…let’s go…” I smiled

“Go where, Jung Sooyeon?” He got up too

I stared at him.

“Yah! How did you know?!”

“I just do, Jung Sooyeon…” He smirked, smugly, walking in front of me

“Wait for me, Kim Jaejoong!”

“Make your short legs walk faster, Jung Sooyeon!” He yelled back

“My legs aren’t short, Kim Jaejoong!!”

“Fine, carry your stubby legs here Jung Sooyeon!”

“Wait ‘till we get to school, Kim Jaejoong, you’re gonna die!”

“Looking forward to it, Jung Sooyeon!”
