Daehyun stared at Youngjae, who was sleeping peacefully on his bed. He refused to be put in ICU no matter how hard he tried to talk to him about it. Mr. & Mrs. Choi came to visit as much as they could, every second can be Youngjae's last now. It was hard for Daehyun, to see him asleep like this. There's always a chance of Youngjae not waking up, and to think about it alone made Daehyun wanted to die. World's not fair, and it’s certainly not to Youngjae. And with the fact that there's nothing he can do about it made his heart wrenched even more.

He felt Youngjae stirred in his sleep and opened his eyes slowly. Daehyun smiled softly at him.

"Hey."

Youngjae sleepily smiled back at him and motioned Daehyun to get his sketchbook from the night table. Daehyun complied and give the sketchbook as well as the pencil beside it to Youngjae. The hands that received it were so skinny, Youngjae's appetite were getting lesser and lesser until now he had to depend fully on his IV for nutrition. Daehyun remembered once when Youngjae tried to eat he coughed out blood so much that the bed sheet and the blanket became red. He had to bite his inner cheek to not cry on the spot and called the nurse. It was after that he let himself cry when he reached home. Jongup had gone crazy and called Junhong right away, asking why the hell his ever-so-snarky brother broke down on the kitchen counter. When he found out what happened Jongup let his brother choke back his sobs while he pat him slowly on the back. It's one of the times Daehyun were grateful that he had a family. Family made him stronger. But Youngjae made him even stronger. So when the strong Youngjae was slowly giving up to fate, and who was Daehyun to oppose it? He's only a mere human with limitation, no matter how much he wanted to take the pain away, how much he wanted to see Youngjae smiling brightly at him like he always did, he cant. Because he's not strong enough to pretend that everything's okay anymore.

Cutting his train of thoughts Daehyun fixed his gaze at Youngjae, wrote slowly on the sketchbook as he didn't have as much energy as before. His handwriting was beginning to lose its boldness and now it was ghostly scratches on the hard surface of the paper.

How long did I sleep?

"About five hours, but don't worry I went home and I just got back. And I ate already."

Youngjae smiled, albeit weakly.

Sometimes it fears me, it's like you can read my mind.

"It should be me who say it babo."

Youngjae shook his head slowly.

Anyway how's the song going?

"Haven't got time to finish it... Sorry Jae."

How can he finish the song in this kind of situation? He'd rather spend his time watching over Youngjae, he needed him more. Songs can wait. The world can wait. Youngjae can't. He can't.

You have to finish it! The gala dinner is a week away!

"Is it? I thought... Oh right I forgot."

Now who's the babo one? Mehrong!

"Fine fine you win."

The blonde smiled triumphantly, albeit weakly, and Daehyun could only chuckle in amusement. He hoped Youngjae didn't hear it faltered.

You have to sing it okay? I promise I'll hear it no matter how. So you should promise me that you'll complete it arasso?

"Promise me you'll really let me take a look of your sketchbook then."

I'll let you have it. I can't draw or write anymore when I'm gone right? You should take care of it, don't make my baby gets lonely.

"Don't say that, you'll win the game Jae."

Until I can hear the song then, I promise I'll keep fighting until that day.

"Jae..."

So let’s have a trial period? Don’t visit me until you’ve finished the performance. You need concentration and I need my therapies. Let’s fight until that day. Deal?

Daehyun didn’t answer. He didn’t know how to. But when Youngjae lifted his hand, Daehyun complied right away. He tied his pinky finger to Youngjae's in their own little promise. If Youngjae will keep his end of the deal he will to. If it's for Youngjae's sake he'd finish the song and sing it. If that can at least make Youngjae willing to fight back to fate, he'll do anything. He always argued that he's 'the one with the pants' in the relationship (even though they never gave it a name) but yet it's always Youngjae who made the hard-to-take decisions. He didn't know what kind of power Youngjae has, and why he's so weak, but for Youngjae... Anything.

That's the first time Daehyun felt he's connected to Youngjae fully. Like they finally share something to hold on together, and agreed to let it go when the time come. Even though both of them knew that after it was over the magic will not last anymore, they'll stay strong and fight together. Until the end. Until the day they have to let go.
